Gameweek 8 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) will go ahead this weekend – but there’ll only be seven Premier League matches taking place.

As feared, two further fixturesManchester United v Leeds United and Chelsea v Liverpool have been postponed because of policing resources needed in London for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, which takes place next Monday.

Brighton and Hove Albion v Crystal Palace also remains off, despite the train strike that precipitated the postponement now being cancelled.

The revised Gameweek 8 schedule now looks like this (UK dates/times are listed):

WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR FPL MANAGERS? INITIAL REACTION

After an opening month in which there was plenty of ‘template’ tedium and thinly veiled humble brags from FPL managers burning transfers because their squads were apparently unimprovable, we’ve now got some welcome chaos.

It’s not quite the full-on bedlam many of us had feared/hoped for, however, as there had been initial suggestions that all three London-based fixtures would be called off. That scenario would have left many of us well short of a full starting XI and prompted a lot more discussion about Wildcards and Free Hits.

As it turns out, most of us may be able to get to an 11-strong line-up without much fuss – although the lack of a fixture for Liverpool, Chelsea and Brighton in particular may be the Buckaroo moment for those FPL managers hovering over the Wildcard button.

We’ll be exploring the pros and cons of a Gameweek 8 Wildcard in a follow-up piece.

    1FT, 1.9 ITB. Wildcard time?

    Sanchez, Ward
TAA, Cancelo, Trippier, James, N. Williams
    Salah, Sinisterra, Martinelli, Gross, Andreas
    Haaland, Jesus, Greenwood.

Similar position with only getting 8 out and 1FT and think I’m wildcarding

Don’t wildcard. Most wont have 11this week without hits or using wildcard. Wait to see What Potter does at Chelsea etc etc waiting a week could give you a lot more options

    WC draft 1.0

    Pope
Cancelo Trippier Perisic (James) (N. Williams)
    Foden Martinelli Maddison Andreas (Rashford)
    Mitrovic Haaland Kane (c)

    Thoughts/ suggestions? 0.3 ITB

Looks feasible. The fact Fulham have a nice fixture helps with Andreas and you could also build a playable WC bench using Bailey, Patterson or Emerson, I'm tempted.

Apologies putting this out there again, realise it’s getting busy in light of the news.

But just a quick one here, more for piece of mind before doing it I suppose.

I’ve no WC left, but if there was any week to lose the likes of Trent & Salah, even for hits, does it somehow work out better to lose them in a week where they don’t play at all? Even at the cost of hits?

For example I think I’m gonna have to do something like:

    Sanchez + Trent + Salah > Pope + Cancelo + Son for like a -8

But this could work out ok given that none of the ones being taken out don’t play at all?

    Thanks guys.

We don’t score may goals. Think if I were to go with an Everton player it would be Gray.

I don't quite understand the "don't WC if you can field 10 or 11 players" logic. Don't we normally WC in weeks where we have a full compliment of players anyway? I don't see much of an advantage in prolonging the WC just for the sake of it. Seeing many say they're waiting until GW9 but most of the good options then are already good options now. KDB, Mitrovic, Newcastle assets, etc. Popular GW9 picks like James and Zaha are easily benchable this week.

Is Wildcarding during the international break that big of an advantage though? It could be if there are a lot of injuries but it might not be.

But I can get Darwin, Salah, TAA as differentials next week against Brighton.

I can have more Chelsea players

I can give the Arsenal players one last chance as a differential

      More data

Protect against potential injuries in the IB

Learn about potential City blank in GW 12

I can take advantage on people going on Truppier and Isak long term.

I can punt on 3 Spurs players this week and WC them out next

I can see whether Emerson and Paterson and others are nailed on

I can see Potter tactics for Chelsea

I can gain advantage on more price changes for 2 weeks

      More time to think

Can get Maddison Zaha Bowen if needed which people WC now won’t

      Etc

      Etc

    WC?

    Sanchez, Ward
    TAA, Cancelo, James, Trippier, Neco
    Salah, Kulu, Martinelli, !Lavia!, Andreas
    Haaland, Jesus, Archer

I had originally planned to WC this week… but some of the teams with no games would be in my wc side if they didn’t have a blank this week..

can you do close to your original plan with 11 or 12 for this week?

    Here's my team.
    Looks just a-ok.

    Pope
    Cancelo, Gabriel, Trippier, Neco
    Martinelli, Bailey, Andreas
    Haaland, Jesus, Mitrovic

    Iverson, Salah, James, Gross
    0ft. 3.3itb

    Thoughts;

    a/ Leave it. No hits
    b/ Salah > KDB (-4) (bench Bailey/Neco)
    c/ Gross > 9.2mid
    d/ Bailey > 8.0mid

I see this as a good option offload Salah. Tough fixtures coming also

      pretty fun looking.
i'm not convinced spending the money on kane is worth it, but not sure you've made too many sacrifices for it.
