The Scoreboard presents all the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) numbers you need from Saturday’s matches all on one screen.

As well as LiveFPL‘s rundown of the goals, assists and bonus points from the day’s FPL action, we’re bringing you a selection of the Opta stats that arrive in our Premium Members Area almost immediately after full-time in each fixture.

Our usual Scout Notes article, which summarises more of the main FPL talking points, notable manager quotes and injury news in extra detail, will follow.

BRIEF ROUND-UP

FPL Gameweek 8: Saturday’s goals, assists, bonus and statistics 9

Erling Haaland (£12.0m) made it 11 goals for the season with a strike in Manchester City’s 3-0 win over 10-man Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday lunchtime but he was outscored by Gameweek 8 captaincy alternatives Kevin De Bruyne (£12.3m), Harry Kane (£11.4m) and even second-half Tottenham Hotspur substitute Son Heung-min (£11.7m), who all bagged double-digit hauls.

De Bruyne provided two assists – his fifth and sixth of 2022/23 – to move top of the FPL midfielders’ points table, while Kane avoided a blank for the sixth straight match. Son scored a sensational hat-trick after coming on as a 59th-minute substitute, meanwhile, ending his goal drought in spectacular style as bottom-of-the-table Leicester City were thrashed 6-2.

The Foxes were abject defensively again but James Maddison (£7.9m) warmed up for Leicester’s favourable fixture swing nicely with a goal, topping the non-penalty expected goal involvement (NPxGI) table in Gameweek 8 so far.

Ivan Perisic (£5.6m) and Kieran Trippier (£5.3m) underscored their attacking potential with an assist apiece, compensating for clean sheet losses in their respective matches. Perisic somehow ended up with just two points, however, with a 54th-minute withdrawal compounded by a yellow card dished out for on-field encroachment after he was substituted.

Alexander Isak (£7.0m) and Youri Tielemans (£6.3m) were both on target from the spot for their teams on Saturday but the regulars penalty-takers of both Newcastle United and Leicester were off the field at the time; it remains to be seen if Isak has shunted the injured Callum Wilson (£7.2m) down the pecking order on Tyneside.

really - has he scored lots against untied? I didn't know that. They look reasonably solid defensively in recent games. If Varane and Martinez are both fit I would,'t expect a spanking for Utd in that game tbh.

he's always looking a good cap option but I won't be expecting a massive haul from him against Utd they way they're looking at the moment. Not stats wise, just how solid they look at the back. If Varane is injured and Harry Maguire plays then that's a different matter.

This WC-worthy? Thinking of holding on for another week or 2, but 5 million OR and falling week on week. Ignore the goalkeepers - they stay. Far too much entertainment to care about points.

    Iversen
    TAA, Cancelo, James
    KDB, Rashford, JWP, Martinelli
    Haaland, Jesus, Mitro

    Ward, Andreas, Neco, Saliba

United have a fair few "Rashford" fixtures coming up, though. Buying him for that Arsenal game is just about the only good thing I've done this season.

Agree on JWP, that was a mistake, but I wanted a reason to watch that Villa game on Friday night.

Held em this far. Got to at least see out their run of good fixtures. Hopefully they don't give away any corners in the next 6 weeks and I might get a few points.

Looking at some of the FPL models and predictions until world cup - a lot have the Leicester keeper as the best value player in the game to that point. There's some logic, not saying it's good logic.

          that's good.

I recovered my hits to around 480k but a massive slide back to 775k. I guess it's a combination effect.

I've got a couple of differentials in defence so could recover some ground in the last 2 games.

Tried out a KDB Haaland Son threemium on WC but side looked unbalanced and thought he’d be dropped so left it. I guess he was bound to find form at some point but just bad luck for non-owners that he was so devastating yesterday.

Arsenal next away, I think he’ll have to sit out a bit longer

nah, that's just a seperate game to win Friday night.

it's crazy all that - I often wondered why these people just play a team for one week and go for all the early fixtures and mad triple captain options. I thought it was just to see if they could be GW leader for a few hours.

My TV is so poor this season - haven't banked a single riser, and the only value I've gained is locked up in Haaland & Martinelli who I don't want to sell - so I'm a bit tempted to finally try to make some monies

Yeah, this game is the art of timing and the Son haul must hurt his early backers.

Presumably lots left but he's back to 1.1 million owned.

Hehe thanks. But I love Son, always wanted to bring him back once he found form again. And I am looking forward as I want a KDB replacement in GW11 anyway so will make the move then if not now

I'll probably do Perisic to James, if it looks like there's a fall/rise. I wouldn't get a player just because their price was going up though. It'd have to be someone I wanted anyway.

      1. The Mentaculus
        • 4 Years

Not looking to sell Perisic, or just gain TV in itself. Been ignoring all the bandwagons but this week my wishlist looks like it will finally coincide with the popular buys anyway (2 of Son/Zaha/Maddison). I'm also tanking my team by going against the crowd elsewhere & holding on to players like Jesus. But I'll keep playing the patient, wait til deadline before making moves game, and see how it goes

        1. DARE TO BISCAN
          • 7 Years

Perisic was my answer to your question. Everything else you said sounds sensible. 'Wait til deadline' is the generic, cookie-cutter answer on here. The risk of an early transfer can be worth it, and also pay off down the line. Both options have their merits

          1. The Mentaculus
            • 4 Years
            3 years, 6 months ago

Yeah sometimes easier to take a risk with your own team than give risky advice. I might compromise: make 1 early transfer & keep 1 FT til deadline

I'd say the opposite is true. It's easy to give advice on here. Makes no difference if the person takes it and it works out or not, to the person giving it.

Also, the consensus on here might not tally with the ~10 million others, out in the real world. Something to bear in mind.

I'd take all advice on here with a pinch of salt, and make your own mind up.

Is threemium the way to go then? Means ditching all but one premium defender, probably. Kane’s returns are so consistent.

Maybe. All this time I viewed Jesus as a premium because he seemed under priced.
But now there might be genuine interest in a threemium.
However, Isak,Toney and Mitrovic could easily match Kane with their fixtures.

I know it’s a long way off but wanted to setup a bus team… which one to start out of:

Looks tough, prioritizing Maddison ahead of zaha, so downgrading Jesus to mitro allows me to do Rodrigo to Maddison, looking at

        GW9- Jesus + Rodrigo -> Mitrovic+ Maddison (-4)
        GW10- TAA + longstaff -> Patterson + Zaha (-4)

        1. Eze Really?

Thinking about GW10 seems logical but put time into GW9 atm. I guess your thought process will be different in 3 weeks time. Maddison is a reliable price point place holder.

Not in love with Bowen and fixtures are the only reason to own him.
There are 5 players vying for 3 places at West Ham so a "wait and see" for Paqueta. Maddison and Zaha seem safer.

Is it just me or is there a link between Perisic and Son?
It seems to me Perisic takes up Son's space.
The pain of guessing Perisic's fixtures and costing 5.5 mil, I can discard him. Son however, is a problem child.

    1. GreennRed

Sure; now he is but Perisic was not on the pitch and I have seen Son's frustration with him. From a football pint of view James does the same to his Chelsea counterparts.

    3. The Mentaculus

Its plausible but I haven't really seen it as a problem. For me, the tactical questions around whether Son can get back to his best are:
      1. These goals came from a shift to 352, where Son is the only (or at least main) runner in behind.
      2. If Conte continues to play Son/Kane/Rich, is there still a problem with the lack of a creative mid to play those through balls? Or will Kane get back to filling that gap?

Just spotted that Kane is playing 0.1 through balls per 90 this season compared to 0.6 last season. Think this might be a key factor

      1. Eze Really?
        • 11 Years
        3 years, 6 months ago

I like your viewpoint and I have thought the same. His position yesterday opened him up but I believe generally wing backs can hurt him. The reason I bring in Perisic is he can hog Son's position more than the others. You are right about Kane and in this case a woeful defensive Leicester played into Son's hands.

      2. Eze Really?
