Gameweek 8 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) continues at the earlier than usual time of 12:00 BST on Sunday, with Brentford v Arsenal.

For the visitors, Martin Odegaard and Oleksandr Zinchenko are both missing with calf injuries.

That means there is a first Premier League start for Fabio Vieira, while Kieran Tierney and Thomas Partey also make the starting XI.

The latter returns having missed three Premier League matches, a period which has seen Arsenal fail to keep a clean sheet, conceding five goals.

As for Brentford, Thomas Frank makes two changes to the side that beat Leeds United 5-2 in Gameweek 6.

Kristoffer Ajer makes his first appearance of the season, while Josh Da Silva is recalled.

Shandon Baptiste drops to the bench but Keane Lewis-Potter misses out.

What would you do?? WC? 1FT? (0.1 ITB)

    Pope
    Trippier Cancelo Cucurella
    Diaz KDB Andreas Martinelli
    Mitro Jesus Haaland

    Forster Gross Perisic Neco

Leaning towards just making the 1FT, but no idea what to do with it.

    RP

First Wildcard draft. I don't want any NFO player, not even Neco, they are going down for sure.
No Pool players until they get few victories in a row.
Triple City too much? Only fear here is not having Kane but I just can't fit him without having extremley poor team.
    Opinions appreciate

    Guaita (Ward)
    Cancelo James Johnny (Emerson, Patterson)
    KDB Son Zaha Martinelli Billing
    Haaland Mitrovic (4.5)

Son + 4.5 > Maddison + Toney, and upgrading Johnny would look a lot more balanced

Think about how you're going to use your bench to navigate BGW12. Guess you could do KDB - Salah to get down to 3 blankers, but then you have to play Emerson at Liverpool

This Brentford team news is hilarious from my point of view. I thought getting Andreas in for DaSilva for a -4 was an obvious gain. The previous gameweek I got rid of Kulusevski for a -4. The moral of story seems to be the less transfers I make the less l cause damage.

I did DaSilva to Bailey this week as I had 2ft's and nothing better to do. Regret it

The Dasilva one is really annoying weeks of 20/30 cameos then out of the blue he starts. I am starting to think three/four ‘against the grain’ picks anti fixtures /anti form should just be left there. While the rest of an FPL squad is transferred around. I think I am too hung up on chasing fixtures. I Need to mix it up more.

It comes with the territory when you buy a sub-5m mid. Either he's a reliable starter for a 2-point return, or he's an unreliable starter with a high ceiling. DaSilva is neither, which is why I'd priotitise Andreas and Bailey over him.

Hoping for points from Dasilva, looks like he is playing on the left of the Brentford attacking 3.

Guess it all depends whether the Arsenal defence goes up in flames today.

There should be a weekly article immediately after the gw on this precise topic. This would allow us to judge who really is a pro-pundit and who is faking it.

Nothing to do with being a pro-pundit, they get paid so a pro, it's just the varying degrees of quality ie some are in the PL and most are in the leagues.

Not in bringing down others, much to learn from looking back at your own decisions as then you can imrove going forward. Its a fundamental part of learning

100% agree at looking back at yourself both for us individuals but also for anyone making content.

Ultimately seems to be a lot of people relying on these content creators/blaming them when they make errors.

(As I know you do), everyone should make their own decisions and take responsibility for them.

It is not just to take the mick, it is to look where the logic was flawed or if it was unlikely. Or if the call was on the button. But most tend to follow each other.

Fair enough - all comes back to having a positive output from doing so.

I don’t rate a lot of the content creators but respect they’re doing something for themselves and choose to ignore most of it.

GW9 is going to be the GW to start stressing about ranks.

If your team is not setup yet then you will most likely be left behind.

    3. Arteta
      • 10 Years
      3 years, 6 months ago

GW9 WC-ers probably wanted the feeling of safety (international break injuries) and more data about the players we haven't seen playing for 2 weeks, among other reasons of course. You can find pros and cons for different gameweeks anyway, but I don't understand the need to follow the crowd and the "ultimate" plan, just to end up with the team made up by groupthink.

Agreed just interesting to see how little trends on here impact the wider game.

I am hoping the -12 I took over the last two gameweeks will pay me back in gw9. I am happier with how my squad is set up for the next four gameweeks or so.
Diaz - James and Sterling to come in off bench for me gw9, Barring injuries on the international break it looks good, because few will have those three players now.

    Ahhh no Odegaard!

Plan was to buy another mid, Maddison, ASM or Paqueta to bench Andreas to set myself up better to dead-end into GW12, but the GW12 postponement put me off Paqueta (can't bench him against Liverpool), ASM not fit and Maddison wasn't cheap enough to open up Sterling as an option for GW9.

Down to 10 players now and a week behind on my original plan.

Excited to see Vieira though 😀

      It’s reasonably good.

The issue is that in games where we need to take on the game we lack creativity and so open ourselves up.

Arguably a better away defence when we can play more on the break.

It’s more that I really honestly don’t want Ward, even as a backup.

If Guaita injures himself in the warmups I really don’t want Ward coming off my bench, and this is cheaper than Pope and Ward too.

He might be a better pick now that Willian has stolen set piece duties from Pereira.

To WC or not to WC? Leaning towards activating it today

    Ramsdale
    Cancelo James Trippier Targett
    KDB Martinelli Andreas
    Isak Haaland Jesus
    (Ward, Neco, MGW, Neto)

Tbf that's not far of WC teams atm.. maybe a different GK and Jesus out. Other than that, can't see the reason to WC.

I don't understand the talk of dropping Jesus. Arsenal are going to be there or there abouts this season. Wouldn't say fixture proof but are as good as any side that isn't City. Jesus can score against anyone and is nailed.

Probaly not for me, defence and attack looks fine, Neto out with your free transfer so you don't have to play Andreas and the midfield will look much better

That + design on the official PL game ball makes it look like one of those very hard balls to kick. Jabulani looked much tastier to just send somewhere.

He's definitely not playing because he wasn't in the training pictures.
