In exactly eight weeks’ time, the 2022 FIFA World Cup will get underway in Qatar.

While nothing has launched yet, you can bet your bottom dollar that there’ll be a Fantasy game or three to accompany the tournament in the Middle East.

The official FIFA/McDonald’s Fantasy game has been the main one that we at Fantasy Football Scout have covered in past World Cups; it has historically been quite similar to UCL Fantasy, with the ability to make substitutions and captaincy changes in between matchdays, but we await the relaunch of it and any potential rule changes for 2022.

Whatever Fantasy game is thrown our way, we’ll be covering it in as much depth as possible.

Part of that coverage will be the usual team-by-team guides on all 32 nations that are taking part.

While we’ll be spending the next two months brushing up on Qatar’s wing-back system, Saudi Arabia’s entirely home-based squad and everything in between, we’d love to hear from any of our readers who are fans of the countries taking part, are based in any of these nations and/or have a smattering of knowledge about the teams involved.

If you’re keen, fill in the short form below and select your country of choice (all teams bar England are available as an option).

If we follow up on your submission (and there is a chance that we may be oversubscribed for some of the more well-known/best-supported nations), we’ll send over a small number of questions – things like players to watch out for and a predicted line-up – closer to the start of the tournament in mid-November.

Why are some people playing WC GW13?

Probably to bring back any arsenal /City players but it makes no sense to me.
The wc will only have 4 weeks of impact whilst these next 4 weeks aren't being attacked.

Guess would pick 3 on WC GW12 and bench and then get a fourth GW13

Couldn't you just sell 3 by GW12? Guess it depends on your team then you could get 6 for GW13.

Dead end into 12, then sprint for 4 GWs, you should have 1 or 2 differentials from City/Arsenal in 13 at least. Not sure how great your 11 is in GW12 if you benched 3.

Or WC now, whichever you think is best. I just WC'd as I wanted Maddison, Zaha, Mitro and Salah and getting rid of Sanchez.

      A few reasons for me.

      1) I'm happy with my team now and where it's at
      2) I have triple Arsenal and City and can move out any assets before GW13 and get any back in without hassle (they have been the best sides in the division after all)
      3) I don't see any fixture swings that are worth making any big changes to my side before then
      4) Can deadend team into GW12
      5) Are a few teams with good fixtures from GW13 on, Liverpool, Arsenal and City in particular. Most will only have 3 from Arsenal and City combined in 13 and I don't see people flocking to Liverpool options with Arsenal and City before GW12

    B) Cancelo

Everyone will say go with B

Another option is if you have Pope in goal then you could go with both instead of doubling up with Trippier

I don't think so. Wouldn't let a game against a team as bad as Leicester sway you much. Arsenal, Brighton and Everton won't be easy and Spurs have generally been stumbling over the line with their wins this season

Long time member of this site but I have to say I'm a little bit disappointed with the Members content. In past seasons I felt like there was always good quality Members Articles to sink your teeth into during an International Break and this doesn't appear to be the case. Other gripes would include the auto-renewal of membership, with no email notification and Members Area in a perma-Beta state. With so much content freely available on Twitter/YouTube and stats accessible on sites such as FBref, I am definitely questioning the value of my FFS Membership.

Auto-renewal is on, apparently, but if I click 'Cancel Membership', it still says I don't have a recurring membership. Same thing last season. They said it would auto-renew and it didn't. Now there's no way to be sure because the profile page and the customer support can't tell you the true status of your membership. They seem to have no idea how their own system works and have no one available to fix it. Of course, there are issues in the other direction with people autorenewing without wanting to. Complete lack of logic and transparency, and lack of effort to make things right.

And let's not get started on the Member's area(s) 😆

Last chance saloon, from where I'm sitting. I only renewed to maintain the lower price and give it one last chance. But the progress is so slow that they are still working to fix things they messed up 6 months ago. And the new stuff coming through in the Beta (actually over a year ago, mostly) isn't clearly better than what we had before, and in many ways, much worse. No data for this season after multiple GWs into the season. Broken comparison tool, etc etc. I could spend all day writing tickets for bugs and usability issues and still only scratch the surface. Oops it looks like I started getting into it.

If I cancel membership (somehow) and it eventually improves, I won't be coming back at the higher price anyway.

Agree with some of this sadly.

I've spoken to some in the team before and some of the 'features' have either taken an age to come out, or are still yet to. There was supposed to be a revamped payment/renewal section to fix said issue and it still hasn't come after what now much be at least a year and a half since it was mentioned as being worked on.

Being in software development I understand things don't always happen quickly, and I'm sure there's other 'business objectives' being prioritised but some of this stuff seems to have been on hold forever.

I don't mind paying a membership but when it increases for some, with promise of 'improved' features that aren't really there it's a bit like... eh.

Personally, it was the lack of transparency and the downright lies re membership renewal. The renewal date miraculously changed ahead of its originally stated day, essentially forcing me into membership. I feel this was a ploy to ensure revenue amidst slow takeup and dwindling numbers a

I hate how sites say they put auto renewal on for your benefit so you don't forget to renew. It's actually criminal. Hub are the same and are so strict with refunds. The same people that spend money supporting them year in year out and they don't budge. Auto renewal should be made illegal

It's lost it's identify. I mean they glorify and promote people on Twitter more than they do people who actually contribute and support them . The pro pundits thing killed any chance of me renewing here tbh because I refuse to help fill these people's pockets. How many times do their own employees like Az etc post on here. I mean Az is the membership guy and even he can't be bothered to make any effort yet he's the one in charge of getting people to sign up. That just says it all. Hardly a great advert for the site is it. The bloke in charge of the strategy to get people signed thinks it's so good he can't even be bothered to mingle or post.

I reckon memberships are not their priority no more and it's more about the advertisement revenue anyway so I doubt it will change any time soon

It is not an amateur game anymore. I don't mind anyone trying to make a living as long as I have a transparent choice and the evils such as gambling and preying on those who are weak in a strong target market.

            Hey Pulpkinhead,

Thanks for the comments (and everyone on the thread actually, important stuff for us to note).
I fully accept that I don’t spend as much time writing and responding to others on the board as I should, but I’m a long time user of the site way before I got a job here and spend a great deal of time reading posts.

I take that feedback to heart though and will start to interact and engage with this brilliant community more- I think I just take it for granted at times.

The team is working really hard behind the scenes and we truly are always striving for the site to be the best it can be. I know gambling partners are issue for many people / which is why we added in the ability to filter out these kind or articles for members. We have also reduced the number of betting partners we have on site. It’s always a trade off between overloading with ads and revenue (and this isn’t the FFS of old with Mark running the site as a hobby; there is a small team of full time employees who depend on the site to make money in order to pay their salaries).

I fully take criticism about slow updates on board as well, this is something we are making a priority to resolve and catch up with. All I can stress is that we know there is a need to continue to improve the site and we are doing all we can to make this happen.

For any issues or suggestions - please do email me at az@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk. I log every bit of feedback I receive and it is my no1 intention to pass this information on and move the site forward in a way that is for its members.

I contacted the Hub recently on 4 separate occasions, after they charged me for the new season despite having categorically cancelled my membership following the data breach last year. Didn't receive a single reply.

Took it up with my bank and got a refund. Still no reply from the Hub; scumbags.

Pay with PayPal or credit card, then document then you can just get it reversed / disputed if the auto-renewal cannot be cancelled.

Yes, but your profile will still have a 'renewal' date, so you can't even know for sure that it's cancelled. Even when I asked support, they said it would auto-renew, even though I'd cancelled it. Turns out they were wrong, but it's crazy we can't easily know, and even more crazy that they can't 😆

I'd have no problem with auto-renew if you could simply turn it on and off, and you could also see that it was turned on or off. Should be extremely obvious that these are the minimum requirements, especially if you want to be sure to comply with the law. It's hard to see how they are compliant if they can't know whether they are going to charge you or not.

I didn't realize it was that bad in all honesty. Not been a member for a few years here. I see a lot complaining about Hub too but they do have an easy option to cancel and it does give you a renewal date. They also send you an email confirming it and asking you why etc

I guess that's the kind of thing they wanted to implement here, but you can't half-arse a thing like that.

Had a similar issue with my previous company. A whole new subscription system was rushed out because the boss randomly noticed that the payment service we used was expensive and the annual subscription to the payment service was coming up. So he refused to pay it. Ironic really 😆 Caused a lot of headaches and felt like we were scamming people in the process, which is one reason I'm happy not to work for them anymore.

Possibly FFS stakeholders or decision-makers don't appreciate how much work it is to plan, test and implement everything that they want to be implemented. Pure speculation of course.

I've written dozens of FPL articles and so I like to think I know the difference between good FPL content and great FPL content. I'm not sure if it is something you can teach. Certain authors articles improve over time, but they are never as good as your Neale's and your Mark's and your Paul's and your David Wardale's.

I think Neale's articles are the gold standard, but he's only written about 3 premium articles this season, and one of them was about the hall of fame, which isn't exactly helping me win FPL.

I genuinely think his articles should be behind a member's paywall while everyone else's is free (with the exception of a few of the better pro pundits like Zoph).

When the scoutpick short lists come out, I only ever read Neale's section. His scout notes are much better than the other scout notes. I think his stuff is worth the premium and should be treated as such.

Aren’t we only talking £15 a year though. It’s not a significant amount of money for a site that’s let’s be honest we spend a lot of time on even if it is just used for a bit of craic and helps have bragging rights in our mini leagues. I still think it’s exceptional value for money for a yearly fee. Let’s be honest we blow money on way worse crap 😉

I think it's £30 a year right now, and they were threatening that it would be around £36 at one point to try and get people to sign up for the £25ish rate, but later backed out of that. They're within their right to set their own prices but the tactics are underhanded imo, and not in keeping with the community vibe.

Exactly! Being able to look into Scout finding new stuff almost every day is valuable for me. I treat this yearly subscription fee as a kind of contribution to secure Scout's existence. It's good to share our feedback with the team in order for them to improve, but I wouldn't consider cancelling membership.

Given current form I think both TAA and James aren't ideal picks right now. Thiago and Matip being back is good for Liverpool but I still think their issues defensively won't all be solved and TAA has generally looked quite poor IMO. Chelsea's immediate fixtures aren't perfect but James has looked good all season and he had the second-highest average positioning in Potter's first game so signs are good for him. Liverpool also have Arsenal and City coming up and James frees up a decent chunk of money so this is a typically long-winded way of saying I'd go James

Whichever you think will score the most points. Not meaning to sound prickly - they are all excellent options. What is your gut feeling? I've got Salah. I don't love Liverpool's fixtures next 3, but I want Salah for Brighton at Anfield. KDB has United, Saints, Liverpool then a blank so that is far from ideal. Kane decent option too.

All of them will score similar points. Salah will probably score the highest among them. But, the decision also depends on opportunity costs. If you buy Kane, can you find a 7.0m mid who will score more than Toney / Mitro?

Anyway, I bought KDB. I will buy Salah for GW12.

Yes, doable but requires compromise at the defense. Not possible to have Cancelo, Trippier, James and Pope with those attacking 7. But, I prefer to have those attacking players and find other defenders: May be Cancelo, Trippier, Cucurella and Guaita.

Anyway, this is just a hypothetical exercise as I don't have a wildcard.
