The quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup get underway at 15:00 GMT, with tournament favourites Brazil in action against 2018 finalists Croatia.

Tite’s side are unchanged from the side that beat South Korea in the round of 16.

But Croatia make two changes to the side that squeaked past Japan on penalties in Matchday 4.

Budget defender Borna Sosa is available again and starts at left-back in place of Borna Barisic.

The other change sees Mario Pasalic come in for Bruno Petkovic.

There's something about Brazil and quarter-finals.
4 out of the last 5 times they've gone out at this stage.

Arguments for both sides regarding penalty taking order and hindsight is a great thing yada yada but Marquinhos stepping up to take that penalty and Neymar still not having taken one is crazy imo.

Keeping your best takers to the end to deal with pressure etc. is one thing but it’s pointless if you don’t get to them.

I hate this romanticized discourse on the favourites coming from Latin America. Anyone branding a non-European team as favourites must have been sleeping for the past 15 years. The hard reality is the European teams have a bigger than ever dominance in world football due to technology and resources, England or France are favourites. Now watch Argentina struggle against the Netherlands too.

  Brazil & Argentina are ranked #1 & #3 in the world. They matched eachother in the latest Copa.
  
  Not disagreeing European squads do have a lot of resources but to say a team like Brazil or Argentina winning the world cup is a romantisised idea is silly.
  
  Croatia had one shot in target. It went in. It had a huge deflection. Had it not, or the deflection went a slightly different trajectory Brazil are through.
  
  It didn't pan out that way, but that's football. The margins are so small sometime.

    Players playing in best leagues and talents coming from outside of Europe is a valid argument but I’m sure the resources of the football associations are not even close. I’m sure team preparation is not on the same level regarding the analyses, kinesiology, and tactics among others.

      True, Croatia were a bit lucky to equalize, but they had to be to win as a country of 4 million compared to Brazil’s 200 million, where almost everyone plays football.
      
      You can’t deny Brazil was tactically outsmarted today, even if the chances created were on Brazil’s side, Croatia was really the one that set the tempo and controlled what was going on on the pitch. Not conceding enough goals or chances for the game to be killed off, controlling the game from the back and not risking it with wild number up front was the tactic that won them the game, and the only one that could’ve worked.

  Lately there are only 2 huge teams in Latin America and it’s Brazil and Argentina, in Europe there are many more. Some of the biggest forces of European National Football are already out like Spain Germany and also Italy. This version of Brazil was a very good team actually and the fans of those teams from Latin America live for football and you can all see this passion from them this is why we love them, also some of the biggest players in the history of football came from there (Pele Maradona Messi)
