Blank Gameweek 28 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) clashes with the FA Cup quarter-finals, so there’ll be blanks for FPL managers to navigate on that mid-March weekend.

After the results of the weekend’s FA Cup fourth-round ties and this evening’s draw for the fifth round, we now know a little more about which games will take place and who is likely to blank:

  • Four fixtures are definitely going ahead as things stand, only one of which was added after the FA Cup fourth round (Arsenal v Palace).
  • We will get between one and five postponements in Gameweek 28. Should the ties go the way of the fifth-round favourites, we will indeed get five postponements.
  • At least one of Liverpool v Fulham or Wolves v Leeds will go ahead. If Sunderland defeat Fulham and Leeds, both of these Premier League games will proceed as planned.
  • At least one of Man City v West Ham or Brighton v Man Utd will definitely be postponed. Based on the draw, it looks very likely that both games will have to be rescheduled anyway.
  • Southampton v Spurs also looks very likely to be postponed in Gameweek 28 based on the fifth-round draw, with Brentford v Leicester also probable.

GW28 Premier League fixtureStatusA blank will happen if the following happens:
Arsenal v Crystal PalaceOn
Aston Villa v BournemouthOn

Man City v West HamPossible blankIf Man City beat Bristol City in the FA Cup fifth round and/or if West Ham beat Man Utd in the FA Cup fifth round

Southampton v SpursPossible blankIf Southampton beat Grimsby in the FA Cup fifth round and/or if Spurs beat Sheff Utd in the FA Cup fifth round

We’ll only know the full extent of Blank Gameweek 28 just before Gameweek 26, when the FA Cup fifth round has taken place.

As for Blank Gameweek 25, you can read more about that here.

FTs only give me this 5-3-1 or 5-3-0, with 1 spare FT:

    Kepa
    (C)Trippier James White Moreno Schar
    Saka (VC)Mudryk Odegaard
    +/- Darwin

    Sanchez Haaland Kane Rashford Mitoma

Fine with 8 to 10 starters with good fixtures, tbh. And I think it's achievable for many of us here

Darwin could be Mitro, Wilson or Watkins. I'm getting him for a different reason

Not going there until GW26. I could get another mid instead, or keep Mahrez until the blank week. Just in my provisional plans as he's the favourite

Is it worth tanking your team in the weeks running up to 28, just to have 11 players in 28?

Plan to play a depleted team of 7 or 8 in gw28

    Then free hit dgw 29

Wildcard and bb 33 and 34 for the dgw34

      • 7 Years
      3 years, 8 days ago

Don't think you'd need the FH for GW29, unless it's a pretty differential team

It's a very free midweek, so I expect many fixtures to end up there as doubles, especially if GW28 is as depleted as you expect, since some of those fixtures will likely end up in DGW29

      1. Flynny

Cheers. Well think it's wild and 33 and bb34

So free hit in either 29 or 32 or 37 then!

Gonna repeat that I think you're unlikely to need a wildcard to set up or clean up after a bench boost this season, especially BB29. Be open to using it earlier if other issues come up

Sort of navigable without a FH. Chelsea players should be considered (not joking) due to fixtures.

    Kepa (Ward)
    Trippier Schar James Bueno* (Shaw)
    Martinelli Odegaard Mudryk Andreas* (Rashford)
    Nketiah (Haaland Kane)

Not all of these may play obviously. You can play around with the format of course.

Makes me consider shipping White between 26-28 (if not earlier), as I'd rather have an ARS forward over the next few, than holding Almiron through these trickier fixtures.

...now you've explained why I'm getting Darwin 😀

      1. Ze_Austin

        3 years, 8 days ago

I want to keep my Arsenal defender, so that leaves a gap in my forward line. I'll get Darwin for GW25 and rotate him based on fixtures, while prioritizing my other 7 attackers over him where possible

        1. Hazz

In reality aside GW27 Darwin's fixtures around then aren't great.

          GW26 - MUN
          GW27 - BOU
GW28 - FUL (if it happens)
          GW29 - MCI
          GW30 - ARS

I'd rather keep Kane (GW27 NFO, GW28 EVE) with no hit.

Aware Liverpool may get a double but TBC.

            • 7 Years

I'm not selling Kane. It's Haaland - Kane - Darwin, with Darwin as my 8th attacker for the rest of the season. Palace is there in GW25 too

            It's not a short-term move 🙂

            1. Ze_Austin
              • 7 Years
              3 years, 8 days ago

See my full squad above. Darwin is definitely the 8th attacker. It's just that I can afford him as a rotating option, especially since he likely covers the two big blanks (I'll use FH in BGW32)

Fair play if it's a punt. Feel it is a bit of a pricey one for the fixtures around it, but never know he might find some form.

Almiron might loose his place. I am considering selling him. And I agree about your comments about White. I am also considering selling him and have triple Newcastle, Shaw and James as my defenders

          Midfield will be
          Saka Odegaard Andreas

Striker NKetiah if still is no 1

Why? Almiron has been playing well despite a couple of blanks. Gordon can play LW & Joelinton in Longstaff's spot.

          2. Almiron isnt getting dropped. Football managers are not clueless like most FPL managers.

Yeh, like I wonder what mitoma would be worth 28 odd hours before deadline day after he’s just won a wc and there is a shortage of players on the global stage in his position…certainly wouldn’t be 3m

I get your point and I know that the modern transfer market is crazy, but it's hard to compare these two deals. Different player, different position, different age, different buyer, different seller, different history.

Benfica paid €14m for Fernandez, which was a bargain in hindsight. We can only make conclusions after Mitoma's next move. He could still be sold for a huge fee in the summer or next year, and then we're free to compare and multiply the numbers.

Well we've seen even kdb is not immune to rotation. Which is why a 3.9 def for the early season favourites, who has established himself as an important player for Pep, who is now down a positional rival, is a great pick.

Costs as much as Hugo Bueno on your bench. Just bench him when pep does.

If you can just bench Cancelo, I think a NEW/CHE defender, if you don't already have the former, could suit you better for coming GWs. Although I concede City's 24/25 are better. GW28 in mind, unless you plan to FH

I'm between A and B. Probably B because it means I can switch back to KDB and start shedding United assets before their blanks

Have White and Nketiah. Who would you choose for another ARS?

    A Odegard
    B Saka

Thinking B due to penos and less ownership

Both great, I have Odelay, but if money no object, Saka, as you say
      Prob your gw28 (C)..

Bringing in a United defender this week - would you bring in Shaw now despite him being ill for last two games (priced out if he rises tonight) or go for AWB / Martinez later in the week?

I have Shaw, and did Patterson to AWB as I had 2ft
I don´t really think it´s a dgw to get excited about, 2 is enough
We´ll see how they go in the Cup

Best transfer to make with this squad? 1 ft and 1.6 in the bank

Almiron to Antony maybe? Will most likely become Ødegaard for GW23

    Ederson, Ward
    Trippier, Gabriel, Shaw, Bueno, Patterson
    KDB, Martinelli, Rashford, Almiron, Andreas
    Kane, Haaland, Mitrovic

    Hi Team, 2fts

    Ward, Iv
    Gab, Shaw, Trips
    Ode, KDB, Rasford, Bruno
    Kane, Halaand, Mitro

    Iv, Bot, Bueno, Andreas

    A. Almiron, Gabriel & Mitro to Gnonto, Bruno and White -4

    B. Almiron and Mitro to Ferg & Bruno for free

    C. Mitro to Gnonto & Almiron to Saka - use the extra cash to get in a 3rd city player or pope in 23

You don´t mention how much money you have, but a gk transfer looks priority,
      say, Ward to Kepa
rest is gtg, roll one and relax

        Iversen to Kepa for me

With Ward just being a playing backup

Jorginho to Arsenal? Are you having a laugh?

Gallas, Benayoun, Cech, Luiz, Willian. It never works out. History speaks for itself.

Would be so out of tune with how you've been run recently!

Why the sudden rush for Caicedo/Jorginho? Partey issues on the horizon?

I don't get it, maybe the journalists are just taking the piss at this point. It's a few years too late to buy Jorginho. There's no update on Partey yet, but apparently it ain't that serious. Another issues are that Lokonga isn't ready to be a starter and Elneny's season is over. CM/CDM signing was a must since the day he got injured and they've left it late again.

Planned transfers are KDB and Almiron to Fernandes and Odegaard. But if I want KDB back for the double it would cost -4

    Is it worth it?
