DGW29 BENCH BOOST

Providing my squad isn’t hit too hard by injuries in the international break, I will Bench Boost in Double Gameweek 29.

The graphic you see below is how it currently looks, with a pair of Brentford ‘doublers’ joining Gabriel Magalhaes (£5.2m) and Martin Odegaard (£6.9m).

However, with one free transfer and £5.7m in the bank, I’ll probably sell Odegaard for one of Bruno Fernandes (£9.6m), James Maddison (£8.2m) or Jarrod Bowen (£8.0m).

For now, I’m leaning towards Fernandes, whose average position/touch heatmap v Fulham on Sunday offers encouragement that he won’t be too deep in the absence of Casemiro (£4.9m).

ODEGAARD – KEEP OR SELL?

So, I’m probably selling Odegaard, which might need explaining.

Over his last six appearances, he’s averaging 5.0 points per match and has posted some decent underlying numbers, despite trailing Bukayo Saka (£8.6m), Leandro Trossard (£6.9m) and Gabriel Martinelli (£6.6m) for points.

      The Birmingham Mail reported in 2021 that Danny Ings was the fastest player in the squad when at Villa.

      So could be good for a chase.

      Isak definitely. I watched that whole game live (and also the week before). Isak is going to do very well in general play (BPs) as well as a creator and scorer. I would sign him for sure. Ings could, not start, come off early, pull a hamstring. You name it.

    Who is in your Premier League team of the season?

    Here's mine:

    Haaland Kane
    Rashford Odegaard Partey Saka
    Zinchenko Gabriel Saliba Trippier
    Pope

    I don't think it's wrong to put half the Arsenal team in tbh. Might even be correct to have Martinelli over Rashford. They've been dominant this year. Maybe Casemiro over Partey or someone like Botman over Gabriel/Saliba but I think the rest of the team picks itself.

    Don't understand why I'm seeing KdB in so many Team of the Seasons on Twitter. He deserves to be nowhere near the team when he's up against Odegaard.

      In my opinion, KDB was less influential than his past seasons. But, even then, he was better than Rashford, Ødegaard or Saka. I understand why people are including him.

      I also understand why you think he deserves to be nowhere near the team: Ødegaard, Rashford and Saka has been the best "gainers". KDB has been one of the worst "losers".

          He has but he’s not been better than Zinchenko if I’m completely honest. If I wanted to be biased I’d include him. Not comfortable with leaving out Odegaard but very hard to see an argument for including him over anyone in that team

      KDB may not have been at his best post World Cup, but I think his levels and rep will see him through. Same with Shaw, left back was the most difficult position for me. The rest sorts itself.

      Still 10 games to go. A quarter of the season. Think we should leave it a bit before we start with our "Teams of the season". Might end up with players like Mitoma who had a slow start jumping in and any of those players listed could suddenly fall off a cliff.

      Interesting as guessing with Arsenal playing so well there would be lots of their number in the team but going by FPL rules looked to only select three players in a 3-4-3 formation. I know Toney threating ban but his a brilliant season, I understand the KDB as before WC would have been a yes whilst Haaland had to be in the team overall ripping up the FPL books - though his form before WC out of this world. I wanted to put Gabriel & Saliba who have been the rock behind the Arsenal team but keeping to three gone for another Newcastle United defender with only recently form dropping off.

      Is this for DGW only, or longer term? Are ALL of these players on your team, or is this a transfer decision? It’s hard to evaluate without knowing your squad.

      That said, if all of these players are on your team currently, I’d go B for the DGW, even in the face of terrible fixtures for pool. If this is a transfer decision (and you have a good long term GK elsewhere), I’d go A because you can just let Steele ride the bench as a 3.9 for the rest of the year and Shaw is solid..

      I think you should live a little and sell Marti or Saka. They then have Liverpool week after. A midfielder like Maddy, Bruno, McAllister or even Salah could be gold.

        Yes I guess Maddison would be the one who tempts me. However, Saka and Martinelli are the highest scoring midfielders in the game and Martinelli is Arsenal’s top-scoring player over the last five Gameweeks, producing six goals and 49 points.

        His 14 shots in the box, six big chances and seven shots on target are all more than any team-mate across that run.

        Selling is not a easy choice.

        I'm attacking the fixtures, West Ham are fighting and he is off the back of a brace in Europe and high on goals imminent table. Risk/reward chasing , still a class player , he could easily find his best form to save West Ham end of the season

    SGW players for my BB this week:

    Gabriel, Odegaard, Saka and Kane.

    Am tempted by Gabriel to Neco for a cheap punt [Leaves low cash on my bench going forward]

    Is it worth Odegaard to Bruno/Bowen/Benrahma for -4 and another DGWer ??

    I support WHU so might go with the hit for some fun, as I'll be at the matches!
