Having missed Gameweek 36 thanks to a leg injury, Marcus Rashford was pictured back in training on Wednesday morning.

The full extent of his involvement is unknown but, in the featured clip above, he was sighted indulging in a spot of foot tennis with his Manchester United team-mates.

The Red Devils then confirmed his – and Scott McTominay‘s – return to training in an on-site article shortly afterwards.

Erik ten Hag’s side travel to Bournemouth on Saturday before entertaining Chelsea next Thursday, those two fixtures forming a ‘double’ in Gameweek 37.

The United boss should face the media to provide us with an update on Friday.

NEWCASTLE UNITED

Elsewhere on the team news front, Eddie Howe talked to reporters on Wednesday morning ahead of Newcastle United’s Double Gameweek 36 clash with Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Magpies boss confirmed that Sean Longstaff would still be absent with a foot injury but added that Jacob Murphy was his only other concern, the winger having remained an unused substitute at Leeds United because of a tight groin.

“I think we’re quite clear on the injury, it’s just how long it takes to heal.

“He made good progress yesterday so let’s see how he feels today. He won’t be involved in this game.” – Eddie Howe on Sean Longstaff

Matt Ritchie (knee), Emil Krafth (knee) and Jamaal Lascelles (calf) are out for the season.

BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION

Roberto De Zerbi also faced the media on Wednesday afternoon, saying that he expected to have the same squad available as he had at Arsenal.

Julio Enciso (knock) has been in training despite limping off on Sunday.

Joel Veltman (muscle) was also spotted on the grass but isn’t yet ready to return, while Solly March (hamstring), Adam Webster (unknown), Tariq Lamptey (knee), Jeremy Sarmiento (ankle), Adam Lallana (thigh) and Jakub Moder (knee) remain out.

Robert Sanchez, omitted from the squad at the Emirates, also won’t be considered for selection.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS

Nathan Ake (hamstring) is the only absentee for Manchester City’s UEFA Champions League clash with Real Madrid on Wednesday evening.

“Except Nathan, everyone is fit.” – Pep Guardiola

Gabriel Martinelli (knock) will reportedly miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein. Two days ago, the Arsenal club doctor said the Brazilian was “sore” after his weekend withdrawal but added that he “should be OK”.

It was my thinking before Arsenal lost to Brighton. Now the problem is City will wrap the league up against Chelsea.

not selling a player thats scored allmost 50 points in 5 gameweeks for one that could get zero mins at the drop of peps rotation hat. and the league could be sealed against chelsea wich means its a squad player 11 for brighton

Assuming I keep Rash, which one sounds best from these...?

    1. Watkins Grealish Botman to Alvarez Bruno Kiwior -4 (Benching Isak)
    2. Mitoma/Mac Watkins to Bruno Greenwood
    3. Mitoma/Mac Watkins to Mahrez/Foden/Gundo Greenwood
    4. Trippier/Watkins Grealish to someone Bruno

Is Salah to Bruno crazy? Roll the dice on the DGW and will keep Rashford too.

Frees up loads of cash for perhaps a Watkins/Isak switch to Kane for GW38

I think Alvarez is a poor shout. He won't start vs Chelsea unless tonight is a gruelling 120 minutes. If he plays Brighton in a rotated team, I am not convinced he outscores Isak. I then think the team vs Brentford will be strong so he doesn't play.

            All my opinion of course.

Assuming ETH presser validates Rashford's chance of starting, I will do Martinelli to Bruno as below

    Kepa (Raya)
    Trent, Shaw, Estupinan (Trippier, Botman)
    Salah, Rashford, Bruno, Mitoma, Grealish
    Isak, Haaland (Greenwood)

What to do with the next FT?

    a. Roll into 38
    b. Raya out to max £5.2m GK
    c. Trippier to Stones (bench who?)

No. If Rashford was out i'd have done Kepa to DDG but am maxed on Man U and none of the other GK really stand out as worth the transfer. Don't like Raya as an option for 37 & 38 and Kepa only good this week because of 2 games

If Rash is fit, is my best move here to change GK? 1ft 0.9 itb so could get Ederson or DDG.

I'd get DDG for sure. Easily will outscore Ederson and little/no risk of him not playing (unlike Ederson where we have seen Ortega rotate in).

      1. NobodyF*cksWithTheJesus
        • 14 Years

Yes think I prefer DDG too. Tempted by Ederson because the guy a few points behind me in cash league has him so I could block! Not sure if that's the best way to play though...

No one looks at Ederson as an option and claims to be tempted. Rarely does CS, rarely does saves or bonus points, not 100% nailed. Ederson is not going to haul enough to warrant "blocking". DDG is 100% nailed and the best GK at home in the league (by a way - and has 2 home games).

Rashford yes. Martinelli not so sure. Unless he is 100% I feel Trossard will start - capable deputy and Martinelli could still be an impact sub. Also depends who you move to. I mean losing a player who scores is rubbish, but for a player who scores three is not.

Varane most nailed, but fitness always an underlying issue.
Lindelof should be nailed so I'd say him.
Dalot/AWB will share minutes. MAguire is well, Maguire.

Maybe punt on the Phil Jones testimonial vs Wolves?

I think Bruno, Rashford and Shaw is the optimum United triple up. But United have the best home defence in the league, two home games and visit Bournemouth who aren't exactly prolific so I'd probably take a defensive double up (Shaw & DDG) ahead of a hit for a doubler who could well play both games for City.

I disagree on the Alvarez move - reasons posted elsewhere on this page, but if you like it and its for free it looks good for your team below. With your team I'd be tempted to lose Zinchenko for Lindelof as one move.

If there was more to go on, it'd be in the article I think.

Wait for the presser. I think the message is that he's not definitely out.

I think DDG is a better route into the defence. Can't see Lindelöf contributing at the attacking end of the pitch. Also I don't see who you would bench if you change Botman to a doubler? You're basically on a BB team there.

Rashford coming back has confused my plan to play FH this week, though I've still got a sup-optimal group of DGW players though (Grealish, Steele on the bench, no way to get Bruno in etc)

    Ederson* (Steele*)
    TAA Estu* Shaw* Trip (Botman)
    Rashford* Mitoma* Grealish* Salah (Martinelli)
    Haaland Isak (Greenwood)

    1FT £2m ITB.

If I don't use FH, I'd probably sub Botman for another Man U defender, and hope Martinelli is back for final game.

    1. Pegboy
      • 15 Years
      2 years, 9 months ago

I.e. is it worth a free hit, to bring in Bruno, Gundogan/Mahrez and MacAllister for Martinelli, Grealish and Rash. Maybe Wilson/Alvarez for Isak. Possibly swapping DDG for Ederson.

    2. House Frey Wedding Planner
      • 7 Years

I think FH would be best used in gw38 and do Botman to the Utd defender of choice.

If you really want Bruno in this week, then take the -4 and bring him in for Martinelli and make up the difference by selling Botman or Trippier

    3. Biggsy

You're probably a great example of why FH wasn't best saved this late. I'd be tempted to just do Martinelli to Mac A if you can't stretch to Bruno and bench Trippier - save FH for a bit of GW 38 fun

  14. House Frey Wedding Planner

Neck and neck now with my ML rival in my cash league. Going with Wilson as captain and double Utd defence in gw36 has paid off handsomely. Do really want to win this league and the only differences between our teams, he has Ederson, Bruno, Botman, Varane and Greenwood plus no money (I have DDG, Shaw, Grealish, Gabriel and Wilson and 1.6itb)

If Rashford is indeed passed fit, is the best move to roll the transfer? If Rash was out, I would've taken a -4 to do Rash and Wilson to Bruno and Alvarez. Am a little worried he might captain Bruno to make a difference.

    My team:

    DDG
    Shaw Estupinan Trent
    Salah Mitoma Mac Rashford Grealish
    Haaland Isak

    Kepa Wilson Trippier Gabriel

Best move to roll transfer or do I take the -4?

Its a nice set-up. Bruno is the obvious missing link, but lots of doubles and good singles and of course you can't have them all

It almost would have been easier to decide if Rash was confirmed as being out. But to be honest, given the choice out of Rashford or Bruno, I would go with Rashford. I certainly don't want to lose my double Utd defence

I could go with Wilson or Isak as a gw37 option if I roll the transfer.

The question then is who DO they sell him to, if Bayern won't bite? He has to leave because he is toxic, and city (Pep + fans) are toxic towards him.

There isn't a club out there which
        a) Cancelo would consider joining
and b) isn't a direct rival to city in either EPL or UCL.
Bayern/PSG is about the best suitor they could hope for and Bayern aren't interested.

1 FT, 1,0 ITB, should I just roll here or any changes and bench correct? feels weird to bench 3 NewC at home to Leicester

    Cheers

Rashford and Martinelli available this weekend would certainly make my life easier.

As would Toney being back too.

Things are looking up for Rashford. Saw that he was practicing with the team again.

Needs more Milner. Like the Phil Jones pick, but worried about the effect of Tuanzebe on his minutes

"We will more or less have the same squad as against Arsenal. I need tot think of the condition of my players."

Should have a better clue in 8 hours. Dias probably the most likely followed by Stones imo.

Stones would be amazing if so

Do you remember how many games does a PL player have to take part to win the PL medal if his team is champion?

I remember one year Pep gave 2 or 3 games to his 2nd GK so as he could get the medal and have the Champion title

Before knowing how Thursday's game will fair, are there any other ST worth selling Isak for or just roll? GW37 match vs. LEI should be a great fixture for NEW ST's
