Won my main ML by 43 points in the end. Finished 17,280 according to LiveFPL. Second season so delighted. Isak over Wilson would have put us on top 10k but we go again next season.

Finished within top 35k, bit of a drop from top 5k last year but had a shocking start to the season so still very happy.

Mixed feelings on the team news leaks - 6 of the 7 people in front of me in a strong ML, changed Haaland to Kane after 14:00 today. I'd saved 2FT for GW38 so was always going to take out one of Isak or Wilson for Kane, but somewhat nullified the advantage. Haaland not even coming on for a one pointer was a bit tough to take too, but somehow got 11 out thanks to Estupinan and Wilson coming on.

Do it all again next season!

I can't believe I salvaged my season after my -20 today.

Kiwor, Kane and even Son came in clutch! 71 all out.

Im very proud of finishing 182k OR in my toughest season ever. Its my worst OR in my 8 years playing FPL, but this was also a season where I learned how it is being far behind and not to give up.

The first part of the season everything went wrong. Started with Kane and Son, no Jesus, Salah and Haaland. Had Darwin early on when he got the red card and Mitrovic when he missed the penalty. Burned my WC in GW2 on poor moves. I was around rank 7 mil the first few GW. Tried to go against the meta and captained Salah multiple times when Haaland did well and was captained by most players. Got punished hard but didnt gave up. Manage to get to rank 3 mil in december just after the World Cup.

But than tings started slowly to turn and in GW28 I was the first time inside top 1 mil. Going against Haaland (C) started to pasy of and with some good planing and smart moves I managed to keep climbing. Played well my chips around the DGWs and ended up 182k OR at the end. My worst OR, yet my best comeback and performance in the second half of the season.

Was ranked 3,796,976 after halfway, gw19.

18 green arrows and I'm finishing with a rank of 184,546 overall.

Scored 92 today on free hit with a gw rank of 3504.

Was over 100 behind in mini league, 3 behind before today and won that by 40.

Not my best season in rank by a long way but boy does it feel like it after that mid season rank.

    salah with pool scoring 4
united win with bruno & rashy

the whole lot combined was 39.

Ok I know there will be a lot of personal stories on here, but “for what it’s worth” (nod to LTFPL Andy) I was 1m into World Cup, 72k into today, and I think have come around 47k for my first top 50k finish.

Rubbish to some, nothing to many, but stupidly a bit emotional for me today. How silly the effort we put into this game, but how important it is

Well finished 28,878 according to live FPL, won all my mini leagues 200 points clear in my cash league.

After a first week rank of around 5m, deciding to go without Haaland for Nunez, and captaining Salah when he blanked in the 9-0, I’m happy with that.

Captaining Kane today helped and Wilson for the double really paid off

Toughest season yet, and fell 48 points short of a Top 10K finish. Here are some of my most memorable highlights:

-Sold Martinelli for Odegaard before 26 point DGW haul
-Benched Watkins (New) for 16 point haul ahead of Toney (Wol)
-March owner (deserves own post, awarded goal on review but game couldn't amend points probably the highlight)
-Mitrovic penalty which he kicked twice
-Saka penalty miss and sudden drop of form
    -Fernandes dodging points from GW33
-Went KDB over Salah after World Cup

Like many others never lost faith and avoided what could of been a real disaster rank. We go again next season, and as UFC fighter Michael Chandler would say - "See you at the top!"

    Hi all

Havent been here for a while. Taking a back step from fpl past 2 months, just checked some few team news few minutes before each deadline, finished with majority green arrows.

Went for a hail mary today on 1% chance of top 10k from 25k pre deadline with Son captain and Kane Vice so dropped a few k back to 34k. Worth it for the risk since 23k or 34k doesnt mean much.

Decent enough second half of the season considered i was at 3,8 million going towards week 9 and by week 18 had no chips left (freehit, two wildcards and triple captain all wasted) and was outside the top 100k.

Anyway as i mentioned way back in the blank week thats me done for Fpl more than likely for ever. Ive been playing since 2006 , was on here since 2008 (originally dbronaldo) and then took a break from 2012 to 2020 after losing interest after a decent string of finishes.

Leaving this time for different reasons, with 10 million players and such tight ranks, plus the huge over- outpouring of information and most of it nonsense , fpl for me is just not what it was or the game i enjoyed before. Certainly not even worth the 5-10 times even for a few minutes im not present at the weekend when with family to see /think how who scored will impact rank/league.

Have a good one all. For those who will continue play in future, i would simple suggest there is little to no need at all for watching or consuming any content around fpl unless checking some team news and the odd bit of underlying stats. Its a simple game in the end where good decisions will give the majority of years give you a top 100k finish and a top 10k or below requires some decent swings of luck.

    Cheers

Have some time off and come back when Haaland has left the prem or out with a season long injury.

The lack of captaincy options made this season the least enjoyable season I have ever played. Compounded by the new abundance of FPL content as you mentioned

Take a season out and see how you feel. I've not played the last two seasons (previous best finish: 399, a zillion years ago) but enjoyed my first season back in a while.

You are right about the information and the trend toward template teams but you don't have to join the masses.

Same feelings. It's safe to say my fantasy manager career is now finished and it's time to retire. I have lost the 'fun' factor from this game. I must say I have still enjoyed off season part and watching practice games and trying to find tactical changes and scout new players. But after 5 gameweeks every fantasy website has enough data to overanalyze players and teams to spoon feed millions of managers (including me) which very soon lead to 'template' teams. Wildcards and player value system encourage teams to be even more 'template'.

When I started my fantasy career over 20 years ago and it was very different back then and much more fun. There wasn't any stats available other than assists and goals and you had to WATCH the games to find hidden gems. Nor was there hardly any websites to discuss fantasy games so you had to make decisions by YOURSELF.

Some of you might say that you can still just watch the games and not read websites or look statistics but old way of just watching games wouldn't give you success anymore. It's must more points-rewarding time usage to spend hours finding team leak data from Twitter nowadays. I really dont want use my time to that anymore.

Even if I'm now retiring I suggest these changes to reduce templates:
      * New chips:
      * All out defence: Score double def points in a single game week
      * All out midfield: Score double mid points in a single game week
      * All out forward: Score double fwd points in a single game week
      * Get completely rid of wild card chips
      * Transfers should be changed so that you have 37 free transfers for all season and after that they would cost you -4 points per transfer. This would possible lead to many different strategies: Do I spare transfers to double gameweeks or do I use many free transfers right away to try to go 'template' right away?
      * Game week deadlines should be around midnight before actual games to avoid need for team leaks to succeed in this game.
      * Player value changes should be more dramatical (and maybe less rewarding/punishing?). Haaland's price increased only 0.9M all season and as he was so cheap everybody had him every week. But if the price would have grown to 14-15M I guess at least some of us would have sold him to invest money to other premium players (if you only would have needed money this year!!). Also Son's price fell only 0.5M all season. As the price was so high all season he wasn't selected to our teams but what if his price would have plummered to 8-9M?
      * Premium players prices need to be much higher at the start of the game. You shouldn't be able to buy ~8 best players and few 'differentials' at the start of the game. If premium player prices are higher and value changes more dramatical 'template' team would change much more and managers should make much more hard decisions.
      * Your captain choice could only be max 10M player which would lead to many more captain choices and it might be a good alternative strategy to have 3-4 10M players instead of two 13-14M captain material players (~Salah and Haaland) and thus also lead to differentiate teams.

      Cheers!

Should be happy with a 66k rank but on the other hand I lost my cash ML by 13 and have 15 point Pinnock on my bench. So close....

Congrats to everyone on finishing! This game can be a real time commitment and stressful at times, but it’s also fun as hell because footy is the best!

Glad to have this site to chat with you all. See you next season!

    80 all out on FH.

    120k OR > 58k OR

Great finish, best rank in a few years.

Thanks to everyone who gave me some tips on here and answered my often banal questions. The best of you with a nice sense of humour!

    See you next season!
