      Ramsdale
      TAA-Shaw-Estupinan
      Rashford-Saka-Martinelli-Mbeumo-Mitoma
      Darwin-Haaland

      Areola-Botman-Bell-Mubama

I prefer Onana and Gabriel rather than Ramsdake and Shaw, and I'm not much of a fan of the Darwin pick.

But it's surely a very strong side. Good luck.

What do you think about Wissa insted of Mbeumo...it is 0.5 less?
Darwin could be a great pick, but so far we need to wait and see more

Don't think I'd pick Darwin from the off.
I'd also pick a Brentford def over Botman for the bench.
      Rest looks good/template.

I've got a good feeling about Darwin, but not strong enough to have him in my GW1 draft. One reason I'm looking at a 4-3-3 with Jesus and Watkins, is if either Darwin or Nkunku start strong, and one of the other forwards I start with are also holding up, I can still bring a new one in. For most with a Front 2, if Jesus is doing fine, but Darwin is looking hot, what do you do?

I'm thinking the exact same. Jesus > Darwin for the home game against Bournemouth. No one knows who the best £7.5/8.0m forward will be from the off, might as well leave it open to change.

Not sure about Foden yet - need to see where he's playing. If out wide, he'll probably be sat on the byline outside the box while City dominate possession, and chances will be pretty low.

It's City's CAMs and Haaland that tend to get more action.

Problem is if Gallagher partners Enzo in the pivot, Enzo has to stay deep and that's not his game. There needs to be a Caicedo or equivalent so Enzo can play higher up. Gallagher is terrific, but I don't see where he fits in the Best XI.

Not really convinced by Gallagher as a sitting or passing midfielder. His main attributes seem to be pressing high up the pitch and finishing. Not sure that really fits in with the rest of Chelsea's midfield or attack now.

Are there any rumours of City being in the market for another midfielder? With Gundogan gone and Mahrez going, then Foden, Grealish, BSilva and Alvarez will pretty much take up the three remaining MID/FOR spots (assuming Haaland, KdB and Rodri are pretty much ever presents). Kovacic might impinge on a bit of their game time, as well as the odd cameo of the wider squad, but I think the attacking quartet are going to be pretty much involved in every game.

    Right?... Wrong?...

Kovacic will be in the side more often than not.

Alvarez and KDB rotation likely again. And then 2 from Foden, Grealish, Bernardo, Palmer.

Makes them more attractive than last year but still very much rotation risks.

And if they buy another attacking midfielder then they’re all big risks.

Read a couple of rumours regarding Raphinha. Personally any signing isn't going to be playing ahead of those guys...unless it's Raphinha, that man would own the RWF position from vert early on. If they sign someone like Olisie, I'd be very confident in Grealish and Foden's monutes

    A few Sheffield United questions.
    1) How blunt/sharp are the blades in attack?
    2) How solid are they defensively?
    3) What is their general style of play

The reason I ask is because I have not really paid attention to them since they were in the PL the last time - Lundstram and the like. Now, I know John Egan but that is about it.

    I plan to BB gw1 -
Currently on the bench are three Palace players
    1) Johnstone 2) Eze 3) Edouard

Which basically means I am banking on a Palace 2-0 or 3-0 win away win.

        My logic on Edouard is:
        1) He starts
        2) Playing a promoted side
        3) And hopefully Eze will bring him some points

I would like to get Steele instead of Johnstone as I do not trust Palace defensively.

I thought the best thing to was look at Palace's fixtures from April on - from last season
            2-1 win v Leicester (H)
            5-1 win v Leeds (A)
            2-0 win v Southampton (A)
            0-0 draw v Everton (H)
            2-0 loss v Wolves (A)
            4-3 win v West Ham (H)
            1-0 loss v Spurs (A)
            2-0 win v Bournemouth (H)
            2-2 draw v Fulham (A)
            1-1 draw v Forest (H)

That is 10 PL games 3 clean sheets, 18 goals scored, 8 conceded. Five of thoise against Fulham and West Ham,

I would argue that the worst three results were the loss to Wolves, the draw Everton at home, and the draw v Forest at home.

Palace will be getting into the proper Friendlies now Millionarios, Seville, Lyon the next three. I will be watching closely given my BB gw1 plan. I suppose I should also be watching Sheffield United.

    Hello all

I fancy João Pedro to make a bit impact in Brighton's side so I'm giving him the nod over Wissa. The rest is pretty template. Thoughts?

    Onana, Areola

    TAA, Gabriel, Estupinan, Henry, Baldock

    Saka, Martinelli, Bruno, Rash, Mbeumo

    Haaland, João Pedro, Archer

I’m personally a bit worried with Brighton as to their formation so is a wait and see for me.

“Pedro is a great, great player,” De Zerbi said speaking after the loss to Chelsea. “But we have a lot of great players in attack. The difficulty is to decide the first XI. A good problem but it is better in this case.”

Slowly getting there with my draft. Think preseason will change to a certain extent.

    Onana 4.0
    Gabriel Estupinan Chilwell 4.5 4.0
    Saka Martinelli Rashford 7.5 4.5
    Haaland Watkins Nkunku

Not completely sold on Onana, but none of the 4.5s has stood out yet. If it's Steele then Est could become Shaw.

Could spend 6.5 on my 4th mid to upgrade my 4th defender or 5th mid.

Lack of Liverpool attacker is a bit of a worry, but you can't have them all.

Love this. I'd have Mbeumo or Mitoma as 4th mid and spend a bit more in defence

Certainly worth having him in GW1. We all know what he's capable of. If he has a blinder against Liverpool, then considering his fixtures he'll attract a lot of investment.

Are we sleeping on Villa assets?

I know Watkins is on the fringe of squads but there’s definitely value to be had in midfield / defence - potentially over the likes of the brighton and Brentford picks.

Buendia, Diaby, cash and even Moreno could become value picks.

No, we are not. But to be honest, beside Pau and Mings (they are 4.5, but i really think taht there is better option in def then Villa), there is only Ole- and he cost 8M. If he is 7M he would be nobrainer, but with 8M better iption are Jesus, Nkunku (0.5 less) and even Wisaa for 2M less and great fixtures

I'm very keen on Moreno, and have some interest in Diaby/Ramsey, but 2 of them are injured & 1 hasn't played yet. But could easily have a double up on WC. And I fancy them to have a strong season, perhaps 5th/6th

    Onana
    Gabriel / Estupinan / Tarkowski
    Saka / Salah / Mbuemo / Mitoma / Maddison

    Bench - Areola / Henry / Beyer / Archer

    How essential is Trent?

The 2.5m difference vs the likes of Chilwell, Shaw, Stones could go a long way elsewhere.

Does he warrant that spend, for an extra 50pts or so over the season?

    1. TheTinman
      • 10 Years
      2 years, 7 months ago

Trent was essential because Liverpool had the best defence and he got a lot of assists too.

This Liverpool defence is an absolute shadow of it's former self. But they will still do enough to keep some clean sheets and his attacking output is still good.

He's not essential, but not a bad pick.

I agree with you, seeing how poor VVD has become(compared to how good he was during his peak) and his partners(Gomez and Konate) not being very good either. Can't see TAA being worth 8m. But time will tell.

The defence overall is weaker and teams just seem to target him massively too. Playing him inverted might get even worse for Liverpool.

    2. x.jim.x
      • 11 Years
      2 years, 7 months ago

Not at all, especially at the expense of Salah. Liverpool’s defence is already dodgy - RCBs are all injury prone and Van Dijk is clearly declining. It took an Alisson all-timer to get them into Europe at all.

This season they’ve lost 90% of their midfield depth and brought in 2 new players - 1 of which from the BuLi, a league famous for flops (same club they got Keita from).

Fabinho is 99% out the door and they have no other DMs. Looks like they’re buying Lavia but he’s only young - is he ready to play 90 mins every week for a top 4 team? If he gets injured, they’re scuppered too.

      TL;DR: No.

    3. Drexl Spivey
      • 7 Years

It's a different Liverpool this season, stronger in midfield and unburdened by Europe (unless you count the Ropey League, which I don't). I fancy Chelsea too, but we know Trent's nailed. I don't think Shaw's baps are enough to blow away Onana's ouput, and Stones's minutes are still up for debate.

      1. x.jim.x
        • 11 Years

They may be stronger in midfield than last season (not hard with how bad they were), but is it really stronger than the previous season? I'm not sure.

Thiago - Fabinho - Henderson vs. Szoboszlai - Lavia - MacAllister

        1. MoSalalalalalalalalah
          • 7 Years
          2 years, 7 months ago

Yeah but Liverpool aren't even playing a 3 anymore - with Trent inverting. Thiago features for about 3 games every 6 months. And him, Fabinho and Henderson were all past it - incredibly immobile.

          1. x.jim.x
            • 11 Years
            2 years, 7 months ago

At the end of the season, even with Trent inverting, Klopp was still playing 3 midfielders. With the last 2 friendlies, Trent has been playing as part of the midfield 3, with Connor Bradley playing right-back - that can't possibly be Klopp's plan going into a new season?

            1. MoSalalalalalalalalah
              • 7 Years
              2 years, 7 months ago

It's definitely not. The livelihood is that Trent fills up that inverted role and Lavia takes up the 6 spot. Thiago and Bajcetic have the ability to deputise there as well

Seems to have no direct competition at RB. But Emery dropped a hint about playing with 3 CBs:
"The idea is to be strong in our build-up and to be strong defensively with our centre-backs, and the idea could change, it depends, but I want to play with two centre-backs, even with three centre-backs, depending on a little bit on how we can build our structure in the build-up."

And Tom's piece on Torres also suggests "Emery could also move Konsa to right back, fulfilling a similar role to the one Juan Foyth played at Villarreal under the Spaniard"

I'm also getting a sense from Villa fans that Cash isn't particularly favoured by Emery.
