What should I do about Akanji? He played the full 120mins in the supercup. I have 0.5mil in the bank so could do a straight swap for stones

They played 90 mins plus 3 or 4 then straight to penalties.

      No extra time/120 mins.

Only played 90 in the Super Cup. I don't see it as an issue getting mins under the belt for match fitness at the start of the season. Also there are rumours Stones is injured.

I foolishly didn't realise that Luton and Burnley wouldn't have a fixture this GW when picking my squad for GW1 and with Baldock potentially being out it would seem that i may not have any subs this GW.

Do i need to worry or shall i still just roll the FT

    Current Squad 1FT 0ITB
    Turner
    Chillwell Saliba Estupinan
    (S)alah Saka Bruno Eze
    Watkins Haaland JP

You're probably okay on the subs front. There are rumours of an Estupiñán injury (unconfirmed) but I wouldn't be making moves based on it.

I personally wouldn't move for Gusto just yet (as slight chance he wouldn't start), but that would be my out if anyone - if there is any injury news. Rest of team is fine.

Did Chukwemeka really play so badly last week? I see Gallagher is predicted to start but given Chuk’s pre, season and his physical presence surely he’d be a good option to play Vs WHU from the start rather than as a possible sub.

It's more that we now have Caicedo. Chuk is good but very far from the finished product. Gallagher has been quite effective under Poch IMO.

This. Chucky was fine, but he was a stop-gap for Gallagher at #8 who was a stop-gap for Caicedo at #6

Gallagher brilliant off the ball. A little bit exposed on it last week. I expect Caceido to come in for him. Chuk seems to have nailed the more advanced role for the moment. Enzo will likely play more a number 8 role now.

Considering the relatively long summer break with no competitive tournaments, is it surprising that there has been so many early injuries, including serious ones?

    1. Andy_Social
      • 13 Years
      2 years, 6 months ago

Is it my imagination, or have a high proportion of those been players coming into the PL and trying to get up to speed (I'm excepting perma-crocked James here)?

        *oh, and KDB.

    2. Ze_Austin

The early injuries I've seen haven't been the type to come from being overflogged

Just the risks that come from playing professional football anyway, like some bad landings, sharp turns and high impact collisions... And then lads like KDB and Reece who were recovering from long-term injuries, which also increases their risk

When a new hamstring (or similar muscle) goes every week in the league, we're back to fixture congestion as the cause

If both of Stones and Trossard doesn't show up youll end up with one short. But on the other hand both of them are expected to get some minutes. How about you roll and hope for the best, so that you can bring in Chilwell next gw without a hit?

Yesh I think that's what I'm leaning toward.
I think Barnes and Mbuemo look my best options for Trossard and that will allow to get Chilwell.

Best option here? Bench is pretty bad, but thinking save is the play.

    A) Save FT - Extra week of info and more flexible with 2FTs next week
    B) James downgrade - T.Silva, Gatsu, Henry etc.

    Chilwell, Estupinan, Gabriel
    Saka, Odegaard, Rashford, Bruno, Foden

As a Jota owner, I feel a bit twitchy. I can see Nunez starting in such a home match. And really only Jota is the option to be replaced? Selling Jota to Diaz doesn’t feel right either. Diaz is very much a 1 in 4 scorer and less explosive.

    1. Hairy Potter
      • 10 Years
      2 years, 6 months ago

I've got Jota and feel he's a hold this GW. He was poor against Chelsea and might be on the bench this GW. He's still a player who can score coming off the bench. I'll probably shift to Maddison next GW, unless he starts and hauls.

Same. Jota may start on bench, but minimum 20min playing time? Think i will be holding for this GW, at least

    3. The Mentaculus
      • 4 Years

I know it wasn't his best performance, but I expect Liverpool will be unchanged. Still get the impression that Klopp sees Darwin as a work in progress & he might not start until rotation kicks in around European games. Think it'll be Jota/Gakpo up front the majority of the time, and the 6 role (hole) isn't really patched up yet so unless Jones is brought in to move Gakpo up top I think Jota will be fine.

I can’t decide what to do with Eze. There was definitely some real promise in his first game and he was very unlucky to blank. But my worry is fixtures and value. If I compare the next 6 fixtures with Mbuemo, who is probably my favourite alternative at the moment…

Eze - ARS, bre, WOL, avl, FUL, mun
Mbuemo - ful, CRY, BOU, new, EVE, nfo

Mbuemo’s fixtures definitely look more attractive. But with £0.0m ITB my biggest worry is FPL Price Statistics showing…

    Mbuemo +99.0
    Eze -48.7

… meaning that I most likely won’t be able to make this switch next week without having to make up the £0.1m elsewhere.

I have 1FT. Would really appreciate your thoughts… do I?

    A - Save FT
B - Swap Eze for Mbuemo
C - Swap Eze for someone else

    1. Andy_Social
      • 13 Years
      2 years, 6 months ago

Presumably you bought him for more than one gameweek, a gameweek in which he played very well.

      1. boroie
        • 7 Years
        2 years, 6 months ago

True… although it was a very last minute swap from Mbuemo to Eze before the GW1 deadline and was probably swayed by Eze playing Sheff Utd. Taking away that fixture, and the ability to reverse the transfer, without having to downgrade elsewhere, suddenly changes things.

I m having a dilemma over who to start and bench. 2 have to start, 2 be benched.

    Foden (v new)
    Eze (v arsenal)
    White (v palace)
    Henry (v ful)

I'm veering towards starting Foden and Henry. Feels like a bigger risk but that way I'm not having two players in White and Eze starting against each other. My pros and cons for each player:

Foden could be rotated, didn't look that threatening against burnley, newc good defensively...but city at home and he has great ppm.
Eze great form in pre season and most shots gw 1, but none of his shots were on target and playing arsenal.
Henry really impressive gw1 and pre season but playing away.
White I'm hoping will be playing in a more attacking fullback role v palace but not sure on artetas plans yet.

    Any advice greatly appreciated
