    Lavia to chelsea is done.

    Quite a ridiculous midfield.

Colwill/ Chilwell double up could be the way to go withou

I’m really regretting putting Chukwuemeka in my team. Especially as I have Chilwell and Jackson so can’t now get a third Chelsea without having to waste a transfer getting Chukwuemeka out.

I had exact same issue and gone Wissa.

      Brentford excellent on the counter and will do damage with Paulinha less Fulham;

Wolves looked very solid defensively and think they’ll cause Brighton headaches. Ferguson could even start

I am personally going to hold Trossard and assess - He has big haul potential when he plays and he's in such good form (scored a brace in a friendly yday) that I think it's a waste of a transfer.

If he's out for a few months, I'll probably get Gusto. It would help prepare some funds for players like Trippier and Maddison in the coming weeks.

Estu is a difficult one, because he has Newcastle, Manchester United, Aston Villa, Liverpool, & Manchester City in his next 7 games. It might be better to go without and get ahead of the curve, unless you plan a WC soon. So I guess Henry out of the two...

It's not that much of a risk if u also own Haaland, you're still getting half of what Haaland cappers get. Also Newcastle could easily mark him out of the game same way Seville and Van Dijk has, which is now easier to do with no KDB or goal threat from Mahrez to worry about and there never is a goal threat from Grealish

Henry better long term, the advantage you have not jumping on the Gusto wind, is that you will know how long James is likely to be out gw3. So you can make an informed decision.

  18. Wrong Captain Choice - Ag i…

    Mucho Gusto' everyone
This is a wildcard draft I now came up with

    Turner (Ederson)
    --
    Henry - Chilwell - Gusto - (Kabore - Beyer)
    --
Maddison - Salah - Saka - Diaby - Gibbes White
    --
    Haaland - Alvarez (Jackson)

I know it goes completely against the FPL conversation of not spending big on a keeper, but he starts there is no messing around with rotation. Amd I plan to keep until around gw6 - when I transfer him out to get funds for Newcastle players (Trippier /Shacr /Botman)

What peoples views on getting Ederson in? Is it FPL heresy. I could be getting save magnet - Leno in instead etc

    1. JT11fc

    2. The Mentaculus

      Mucho gusto 🙂

Yeah, I'm very anti-Ederson (no save points etc etc). Johnstone looks like the one to me. Also I wouldn't get a GK just for 4 GW personally - seems like an annoying spot to park the 1m

      1. Wrong Captain Choice - Ag i…
        • 16 Years
        2 years, 7 months ago

That is what I thought initially, but Gusto is saving me over 1m to enable that luxury.
Plus if I think of Ederson as a guaranteed starting part pf that City defence, suddenly it seems far more logic. He is Pep Roulette immune and those fixtures for City look great until gw6.

To be completely honest I sort of 'fell upon' this wildcard - when I inadvertently sold Estupinan and forgot he rose .1. It was more happenstance than anything. And that .5 plus Gusto meant I came up with this. Plus I did not like all the conventional keeper rotation systems Pickford etc. It was starting to annoy me.

By gw7 I am hoping the Areola is still starter and I will switch to him so I can get Trippier. Then the team starts to look closer to a a gw7 wildcard type team.

On the face of it looks that way.
But not after this gameweek - gibbs white, will be benched then sold.

        And gw3 I will have the frontline of Jackson - Alvarez - Haaland - in a 3-4-3

    4. Swahealy
      • 4 Years
      2 years, 7 months ago

Too early, probably be looking for another wildcard next week. Ederson is always a waste of 1mill, plenty of good 4.5 options

      1. Wrong Captain Choice - Ag i…
        • 16 Years
        2 years, 7 months ago

Another wildcard based on a defender that is only 4.0m and can be bench or sold with normal transfers?

On the 4.5m goalkeeper options you are correct there are a lot of options - but the problem is no one knows the best option and combination. True you say I am 'wasting' 1m on Ederson. But Gusto is giving me a 1.5m gain to do so at least short team.

Whether it is 3/4 gameweeks or four months James is out - Gusto becomes incredible value, given the potential clean sheets and starts and what that saving means for the rest of a persons FPL starting eleven.

Thoughts on this team? Interested to see if there’s any news today on Gabriel - may well downgrade to Colwill or Gusto if there is… also I currently have Salah (C) v Bournemouth. Are other Salah owners doing the same?

    Turner

    Chilwell - Gabriel - Estu

    Salah (C) - Rashford - Saka - Mbuemo - Richarlson

    Haaland (v) - Pedro

    (Pickford - Tark - McAtee - Beyer)

Team looks grand, I have Salah too just to captain him this gameweek then I'm changing him to Maddison for GW3. You should leave Gabriel for now, but if u get a leak he isn't starting could easily play Tarkowski and roll

Anyone who has Salah and does not captain him this gameweek had the following issues -

      1) Forgot to change their team
      2) No internet access

Salah owners are losing a massive edge if they don't captain Salah - the non-Salah owners are sweating.

I've captained Salah too, but let's not forget he blanked in that 9-0 game last season. And there's no way Bournemouth will let that many get past them again.

        I'll say 3-0 Pool.

        1. Wrong Captain Choice - Ag i…
          • 16 Years

True but that is 9-0 was an outlier, that is unlikely ever to happen again - where Salah ends up with nothing from such a score.

I would say your prediction will be close to correct, maybe Liverpool will concede? They can't defend. 3-1?

Salah does look really fired up though, was millimetres away from coming away with double digits FPL points v Chelsea. That pass for the assist was a peach.

Jackson I think v West Ham - it could be low scoring game, plus Jackson has that pressure of scoring his first PL goal for Chelsea yet.
If it helps I am benching Jackson.
My second choice for benching would be Pedro (because Wolves have shown they are no push over - and it will be their first home game of the season. Also if Brighton do fire the points will likely be spread anyway - less chance of bonus

In preseason Gusto filled in at right back, it is his position and what he was brought for.

For Pochettino to do otherwise would be a complete lack of faith in him now, and Gusto would be fairly annoyed.

So on the basis of preseason and common sense I think Gusto starts. In fact I think he can make the position his own given those fixtures and James's injury history.

Start the penalty taker is my normal advice in a 50/50. Eze is in fine form though.
      Pedro - just about.

        Don't they both take pens?

Oh yeah, completely forgot that - in that case I would be more tempted to start the Eze more points for goal.

Cheers, my thinking too. It was the wolves performance that has swayed me.

If you had to choose between...

    Estupinian, Mbuemo, Jackson

    vs.

    Rashford, Henry, Pedro

    what would you lean towards?

I think you could assemble an extremely good defense for really cheap this year.

Chilwell, Wan Bissaka, Gusto, Botman, 4.0m

That defense is really good and costs basically nothing. I think I might even consider moving my WC window up a little bit and switch to this type of defense to maximize funds up top.

I'm on WC and got lots of funds
but can't find a player to spend on
      lol

That was exactly why I went Ederson in goal - it is a real luxury to have - the FPL equivalent of caviar. Leaves a bad taste for most conventional FPL thinking. But if you have loads of cash to spare it seems sensible at least until gw7

They'll win every game 5-1 with 0 saves

Haha - I did think of that I owned him in a previous season that was like that.

But I think City's approach has changed to more of a scrapping approach, they are not as fluid so have to eek out wins. And surely between gw2 and gw6 there will be some clean sheets?
Otherwise why does anyone have Gvardiol/Ake/Stones?

granted, but i do see Wan Bissaka being rotated with Dalot or even losing his place after a bad performance or two with my gut telling me that Ten Hag prefers the Portuguese long term.

That is similar to my plans on my current wildcard - plus I know many will be afraid to sell Estupinan - having to bench him or play him in the difficult fixtures.

On the face of the AWB pick looks risky - but if you have Kabore as your 4.0m with decent fixtures upcoming it should cover any AWB absences.

Plus it is rare that a starting defender gets subbed before 60 minutes - unless because of injury or yellow card - like Martinez the last day.

Sanchez relative to the other goalkeepers i think.

      I considered it.
But the better play is Gusto - he enables the Ederson pick - Gusto plus Ederson equals a 4.5 equivalent (short term) starting defender and a 5.5m definite starter from that City starting defence. No rotation blues.
Also you should make FPL value on Gusto when you have to sell him,

    Gotta be Turner, right?
