1 FT. Really want to rid Estupinan for Udogie, obviously because of fixtures.

Or better to hold and see what happens this week with Diaz?

    Ederson (Areola)

    Estupinan Henry Chilwell (Trippier, Kabore)

    Saka Sterling Maddison Mbuemo Diaz

    Haaland Watkins (Morris)

    1. The Mentaculus
      • 4 Years

Why is Diaz relevant to the defender move? I don't get it. I think its fine on fixtures I suppose but to me it looks like Estupinan & Chilwell are miles ahead of all other defenders on attacking threat (maybe Digne...) so I don't really mind sticking with him myself

Just unsure of Diaz role of Darwin somehow becomes more involved.

I know the sub on the weekend was tactical but he was the one removed.

        1. The Mentaculus
          • 4 Years
          2 years, 7 months ago

I wouldn't really be concerned about the subbing - I think in tactical terms it had to be him/Salah. As a Jota owner, I'm feeling pretty pessimistic tbh as I think he'd be the one most affected by Darwin starts. I think Diaz would still start most games on the left

Wouldn't mind a second opinion on the WC-readiness of my squad here. Originally setup to WC5, changed my mind last week, now changing it again... 🙄

    Johnstone Turner
    Chilwell Estupinan Henry Baldock Beyer
    Saka Martinelli Jota Maddison Mitoma
    Haaland Isak Pedro

    Considering all options really:
    A) WC this week
    B) Deadend with something like Jota - Bowen & WC5
    C) Be patient, try to salvage it with something like Jota & Pedro - Sterling & Wissa (-4)

WC5 might look something like this:

    Flekken Leno
    Chilwell Udogie Estupinan Moreno _?_
    Saka Maddison Sterling Diaby Diaz(?)
    Haaland Wissa Isak/Awoniyi?

    1. Nate(U)dog(ie)
      • 5 Years
      2 years, 7 months ago

I don't think your squad needs salvaging personally, maybe just a bit of work. The only big issue I see is J.Pedro. Martinelli, I get the desire to move him on, but if Jesus is fit to start, I think he's going to pick up again. Jota is a bit of a question mark but he looked great in GW1+2 and was part of the reason why Liverpool turned things around, he probably would have started if he wasn't ill in midweek and at the weekend so is he a sell? I'd punt on playing him v Villa, that game has goals in it

      1. The Mentaculus
        • 4 Years
        2 years, 7 months ago

Thing with Jota is I originally planned just a 2 week punt, but then last week with Mac RC I thought he might be nailed-ish for a bit longer. Now we have Endo, Mac unsuspended & that sensational Darwin performance to contend with...
Still, I do think there'll be goals in that Villa game. Their defending hasn't exactly clicked yet, although their attack certainly has

        1. Nate(U)dog(ie)
          • 5 Years
          2 years, 7 months ago

Fair points, I can make arguments for any of Gakpo, Jota or Nunez starting (Gakpo maybe if Klopp wants things a bit slower and an extra man in midfield at times; Nunez would be excellent for his direct running and runs in behind with Villa's high line; Jota's workrate and pressing as well as his aerial threat could be important against that defence).

If you feel Jota is going to give you a headache each week then move on, but if there's any indication he plays then I'd hold and play. I think FT on Pedro definitely and then decide on Jota late on. Definitely wouldn't WC this week though, the IB and transfer window will probably decide for you if you need it next week

          1. The Mentaculus
            • 4 Years
            2 years, 7 months ago

Cheers. Pedro would be on the bench if I sold Jota, but yeah if I have reason to believe Jota starts then I'd probably do Pedro - Wissa

    2. Hairy Potter
      • 10 Years
      2 years, 7 months ago

I think I'd keep my options open this week. Maybe Jota to a midfielder of choice, unless there's an indication that he starts against Villa?

Then you can decide whether to WC or take a hit after this weekend.

      1. The Mentaculus
        • 4 Years
        2 years, 7 months ago

Yeah maybe that's smarter than punting on Bowen for just one week. Could get Diaby, who I'm most convinced by for the medium-term. And then see what GW4 & IB bring

No reason to WC that, although the WC team look very saucy.

Think Isak would have scored if it wasnt for the red card.

      C looks very good.

      Or Jota Baldock to Udogie/Sterling

I have never seen such a nice rotation between defenders Estu/Udogie probably until GW13.

      1. The Mentaculus
        • 4 Years
        2 years, 7 months ago

Thanks. Hadn't specifically looked at that rotation actually, just like Udogie 🙂
I do like to play an aggressive/proactive 1st WC rather than wait for my team to look dire, and a potential enforced double GK change does get me drafting... but I think WC this week was the option I was least inclined to anyway. Will probably get Diaby & hedge on WC5

Pending watching MOTD and delving into Forest stats a bit more, I'm likely to do J.Pedro to Awoniyi later (not sure if I'll use second FT). With that in mind along with me likely playing Turner over Onana, play one:

    A) Saliba
    B) Colwill

I also have Bruno and Saka for what it's worth. Think I'm still leaning Colwill... but ManUtd's poor record in big 6 games under ETH is part of the reason why I'm going Turner over Onana (as well as him looking very impressive in the last 2 games), so maybe Saliba is a more sensible choice?

    1. The Mentaculus
      • 4 Years
      2 years, 7 months ago

Agree with Turner over Onana. I think both Arsenal & Chelsea will concede tbh. Maybe Saliba has the higher ceiling (with BPS more likely if they do keep a CS)? But I think I'd probably go for Colwill, marginally

Maddison(bur) or Bowen(lut) this week? Will get the other next week during IB.

Had the same dilemma and went for Maddison. He is long term pick so I saved one transfer with that one. Burnley look pretty bad defensively and they play attacking, so there will be space for Maddison. Luton might fight like never before in their 1st home PL match.

This is my main worry about bringing in Bowen this week. But that might just play into West Ham's hands, Luton looked so naive on Friday

Yeah could also be that Luton open up more and attack which would leave space for West Ham counters and we saw how that looks. But Bowen has 2 tough fixtures after that.

I think Emery gave Villa a tongue lashing after that display. Defence shouldn't get that bad again.

It’s Anfield though and they just conceded to Burnley

I suspect they'll have a few games where they'll concede a few this season. Their high line and offside trap are good but certain teams (Liverpool included) can exploit them

Villa is a good fixture for attackers, especially teams like Liverpool that have players with pace that like to run in behind as Villa play a high line

Agree with this. They still look pretty open and error prone at times. Olsen playing out from the back makes for nervy viewing!

Wc team, any thoughts? 2.7 itb.

    -Ederson
    -Gusto-Chilwell--Gvardiol--Estu
    --Madds--Saka--Mbuemo--Mitoma--Sterl
    --Haaland

    --Areola--Udogie--Watkins--J.Pedro.

    Thinking Mitoma to Bruno.
    Cheers guys.

I'd ditch Ederson and have Foden over Mitoma

      Archer over Pedro too

Pedro should be 4.5 bench fodder instead. You can only play 11 each week and you have 2 decent subs otherwise, although Gusto probably a transfer waiting to happen also.

    Anyone starting Archer vs Everton?

I'm tempted to but would mean benching Rashford or Bruno lol

I reckon Alvarez is going to get stuck in with points big time this season. He is filling in for KDB. On corners and set pieces too so very good value for money!

I know we are only three weeks in, but you can Wild Card a complete team of the players who are top scoring at the moment and still have 7.2m over.

    Crazy times.

    Leno, Vicario
    Cash, Estu, Romero, Anderson, Udogie
    March, Rodrigo, Mbeumo, Sterling, Bowen
    Wissa, Awoniyi, Haaland.

liverpool have a bunch of great fixtures, he's nailed on and faces no rotation risks too and they have made it past chelsea/newcastle fixtures.
