Have a feeling UTD could possibly take a poo on every Arsenal asset GW4. Quite happy not owning any of their defence and their attack well, only Nketiah and Saka are looking okayish. What team experiment has Arteta got up his sleeve for GW4?

Watched a bit of Spurs game in the weekend and extended highlights. Maddison looks like a brilliant option, on set pieces as well but you could feel Sonny is slowly coming back to his best. I have a feeling he will start banging in soon but is he worth it over Madders? Removing Martinelli for him.

I watched the game and didn't get that impression personally. He's trying to come inside more than he seemed to during preseason or the first two games but he's still not looking himself, not great decision making and not great shooting. He played up top for the final 30 after Richarlison was taken off but he didn't do too much

Mitoma + Martinelli > Sterling + Foden -4, worth it?

    Current front 8:

    Mitoma Martinelli Saka Rashford Mbeumo
    Haaland Watkins Mubama

You can't remove Brighton asset in Mitoma after 1 gw. Brighton are very attacking and playing teams which aren't going to sit back like Westham and defend in the next few which is a positive thing for their attackers.

Yeah difficult decision tbh. Sterling is on form but Foden looked class when he came on the other day. I would slightly favour Sterling since he is nailed and on better form. Also offers more goal threat.

Stumped. Is C silly? Could pay off over a longer period — or he could be benched.

    A - Play Saliba (MUN)
    B - Play JPedro (NEW)
    C - JP -> Alvarez (FUL) for [-4]

I think its a fair time to move Pedro on after RDZ's comments about him needing 'time to learn the Brighton way'. But I wouldn't be thinking of Alvarez as a long-term option necessarily

Just activated my WC and this is what I came up with:

    Areola (Leno)
    Chilwell Gusto Udogie (Andersen Estupinan)
    Sterling Mbeumo Maddison Bowen Saka
    Haaland Wissa (Isak)

A lot of money on the bench, I know. But it seems that the budget is a lesser issue this season and this allows me to rotate according to fixtures.
    Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Anderson a tricky one; not sure you will get either value or use.
Isak for later I like but beware of Champions league.
I would keep .5 ITB to allow for unexpected situations, such as a defender @5 mil.
I think no ManU might be a risk.

Wow I've almost done exactly the same. I've stuck with City down back though with Ederson and Gvar. I'm also backing in Watkins, benching this week before a good run. Also likely bringing Diaby in next week for either Mbuemo or Bowen. I have your exact midfield!

    6. Needo22

Good draft. Agree maybe Alvarez/Jackson rather than Wissa. Also would consider NEW defenders over Estu and Andersen. Trouble with packing your midfield with mid priced assets is the lack of 1 FT flexibility. For instance, Son might be a good differential over Maddi, and gives you more flex to move to Bruno or other mids as needed?

        Eustoponinan, chillwell, udogie, cash, trippier
        Madison, foden, sterling, saka Bowen
        Jackson, Alvarez, Harland.

If you have just one free transfer, I'd sell Salah for Sterling and go 3-4-3.

If you have two free transfers I'd use the money left over from selling Salah to upgrade Anderson for either Rashford or Maddison, bench Pedro and play a 3-5-2.

Leno the best keeper option in FPL?

On my WC and missed the Ederson price rise last night. Vicario the only other keeper I'm considering but reluctant to double up on Spurs defence. Areola will be my 2nd keeper.

Highest point scorer for keepers along with Vicario. 5 bonus points already from 3 games. 22 saves already (6 more than the nearest keeper - Vicario has 13 saves, Ederson has 2!) Rotates nicely with Areola for the next 20 gws (Villa away in gw9 and Brentford away in gw11 being the toughest games in that period for both keepers.) Cheaper than Ederson and Vicario as well.

Should be a no brainer to go with Leno and Areola right?

      1. House Frey Wedding Planner

Ederson was my initial choice and the 0.1 doesn't make a difference. Ederson is still expensive though and takes up a City spot in the team. Another look at the data this morning is making me now think Leno is a better option to go for than Ederson

Leno has +9 post shot xG last season, which means he prevented 9 xG. Only Alisson has a better record (+10) and the rest of the GK are far behind him (Kepa and Raya at +5). The return of Palhinha increases the CS odds but he will still have plenty of saves to make. At 4.5 he is the best keeper out there, by far.

    Onana / Turner
Chilly, Colwill, Gvardiol / Estu, Beyer
    Saka, Maddison, Sterling, Martinelli, Jota
    Haaland, Alvarez

    3.0 mitb, 0 ft

Having both Jota and Martinelli is not optimal, but is selling either of them worth -4? Estupinian is a hold for gw6? Gvardiol and Alvarez both failed, but perhaps that was just bad luck with Haaland missing pen and Walker being simply stupid and arrogant?

This team looks little annoying. Not bad enough to warrant WC nor good enough to get big green arrows either. Any ideas how to plan forward?!?

    Estup / Chilwell / Udogie / Gusto / Kabore

    Saka / Foden / Bowen / Sterling / Maddison

    Haaland / Darwin / Watkins

    Any thoughts?

Bowen would be a week punt to target Luton, then switch out.

Do you not reckon Darwin gets the nod after a brace?

If it's a week punt then sure. I'd prefer to see him start consistently and you would have thought he'd get the nod after the preseason he had.

Front 8 will give you a benching headache. Still need to see a few more games and starts from Darwin to be sure that he's a great FPL option.

Think Leno and Gvardiol is a better option than Ederson and Kabore. Leno has made 22 saves already and racking up save and bonus points. In comparison Ederson has made 2 saves all season and unlikely to get many save or bonus points. Wouldn't go near any Luton player right now regardless of how cheap they are

Thanks for comment. I like your suggestion, I guess my thinking was that I would usually play a 3 at the back, so having another 5m defender is surplas to requirements. I'll have a look though...

Looks brilliant, but that is the thing. You can go with 15 good players if you leave out Mo.

But if Mo stays at Liverpool, then I'd much rather field him GW after GW than have tons of million on the bench.

You can still make a world class starting XI with Haaland + Salah and a cheap bench, and Liverpool have decent fixtures now, and Mo did return in 3/3 games.

Thoughts on Martinelli > Sterling or Maddison for a -4?

    Johnstone

    Chilwell - Gvardiol - Estupinan

    Rashford - Bruno - Saka - Martinelli - Mbeumo

    Haaland - Jackson

Subs: Turner - Archer - Baldock - Shaw

Thank you. I'm also keeping an eye on Rashford - he's provided really poor value for money up until now. Is it worth taking a -4 point hit to transfer either out, or should I wait for one more week?

Not worth -4. He could easily score from counter attack. I believe low blocks to favour Bruno more than him.

You need to add a bit of context to the stats. First two games when Nketiah started didn't favour Martinelli. Good stats in the Fulham game when Trossard started CF in the first half. Jesus back available should help Martinelli get involved more rather than is isolated on the left

    3. Baberto

I feel Martinelli against United defense is a great choice. But Sterling ( Form+fixtures) and Maddison (xG) are better choices. It's upto you to decide if the better choices worth 4 points more than the great choice.

I can only hope for a high-scoring game, which isn't outside the realms of possibility considering the lack of balance in the Arsenal team and United's struggles to plug the defensive gap when the ball is turned over. It should be an interesting match...

Bonkers to me that the minute Rashford goes back go LW and starts getting returns, everyone wants to get rid. "My player only scored 7pts, I have to get rid now that he's looking better for someone that got 10pts last week for a hit". Make it make sense. Level of chasing last week's points going on is exceptional

5.2 OR in my history predicts that to be possible. However, getting false bandwagons is not the way to go. By selling Rashford to a famous troll named Sterling I may just have done that mistake.

Early transfer are far less dangerous with decent bench. Without good bench risks with early transfers are much higher, since you are basically only one injury away from forced -4.

Don't want to sound like I'm blaming the dreaded 'content creator' boogeyman but I really wonder if all this extra content spurs 'casuals' into making daft early transfers to avoid price rises (which they then cause themselves). Had Romero rising on Saturday morning before Spurs had even played - just madness.

Liverpool is a good fixture for a Villa attacker, as is Chelsea, Brighton, Wolves and Luton though. Only ones I'm seeing there that I expect to be tough are Palace and Forest, who are still conceding goals, while Villa have scored 8 in 3. Villa are 2nd for xG too

Don't understand why so many people are selling Rashford. Ok, United have a tough fixture away to Arsenal but he could still haul as he's United's talisman. Plus it sounds like Rasmus will play, which means that Rashy will be back in his favoured position on the left of a front 3. United's fixtures after Arsenal are pretty decent, too.

I can see a lot of goals in this game.

We typically struggle to score at the Emirates and haven't won a league game in about 6 years. Since that win, we've only scored 3 times (2 of which came last season from a total xG of 0.36).

There will be goals, but I'd be shocked if many (if any) of them came from us with how much we're struggling to convert this season. I don't think Hojlund will be ready to start either, so will probably be Mannequin Martial up top.

Arsenal are looking shaky at the back too, don't forget they conceded two against a mediocre Fulham. If United go at Arsenal I can see a shock result here.

I'm surprised its taken me 3 GWs to realise this but if you don't want Salah and everyone has Haaland you can spend 86m on the other 14 players which averages at 6.1m per player where probably the most expensive you'd go is 9m. What a mess they've made of the game this year, might as well have unlimited funds.

Basically so. KdB is injured and Kane is gone. Something may happen in January, but now it looks like TV is irrelevant. I have 3 million itb for example. However, I still want to have good TV. It may help later in the season.

Me neither. The game isn't a mess at all. If you do go for a £9m player, then that means you have to pick another player for £3.2m to maintain your £6.1m average per player, and there isn't anyone available at £3.2m. The challenge therefore is to balance your funds between defense and attack.

    Is Rodri the new Gundogan?

The number 8 that gets 10+ goals a season, and that is nailed to play.
