I’m on a similar wavelength, catching price rises early on and players in form. Although prices aren’t to bad this year, only Haaland needed and the your midfield budget has so many options

I think bandwagons can easily form in the early season and people can quickly judge players to be must have or useless after one good game etc. So hits can prove premature.
Whereas later in the season at least we have a good idea about the strong players are, who the teams to target defensively are and so on, and so a hit can be a more informed choice for a player in terms of xpoints

Chasing the player of the week has not been great so far, out of interest:

GW1 player of the week Varane, 14 points
GW2 score 1 point, GW3 score 0 points
Ownership +0.5m or 4x in that time

GW2 player of the week Mbeumo, 16 points
GW3 score 2 points
Ownership +1.2m or 2.2x in that time

GW3 player of the week Sterling, 19 points
Ownership +1.0m or 4x so far for GW4
GW4 points score ??? (hard not to see him not hauling though here admittedly)

only for players that i really want and not just for the sake of chasing 0.1, most years i'd WC around gw3 to fix mistakes and catch some price rises at the same time anyway since the market can be really volatile early on with some big risers and fallers, this year though i've been lucky to have a lot of risers already in my team and no fallers as of yet (101.6 tv), which is a first for me so i haven't even considered hitting the WC button yet
