50/50 with transfers this season so far, got Maddison and Alvarez but also Sterling and Henry, possibly gonna save now as another FT used for a def seems a waste

I'm guessing people who sold Rashford for Sterling and now selling Sterling for Son, right?

For what is worth I'm sticking with Marcus, Hojlund should be back after IB which means Rashy on the left and from GW6 fixtures looking ripe for returns.

I use transfers (where possible) for one week punts targeting the likes of Luton, Everton and Sheffield.

SHU away at Spurs likely to park the bus, won’t be as open as Burnley were. Then Spurs have ars and LIV. Sure people will jump on Son but think better options for next three GWs.

The most enjoyable moment in FPL is when one of your differentials explodes. Nothing can beat that feeling or top that for me, and it is the part of the game to which I look forward the most each season. This is why I still continue to play.

His position had to change for the haul to come, and Maddison has been ticking along nicely. They weren't wrong there

Son has nothing to do with Maddison. You're allowed to own both.

As for the positioning, he took up some good positions in the last game. Richy was out of favor, so my reasoning for bringing him in was that the goals had to come from Son at some point because Maddison will get 10-15 goals at best. Richy being benched shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.

Those comments were before GW3. I'm saying there was nothing wrong with those comments based on what we knew before GW3. Note that Maddison had just blanked by then. This was when Ange was still backing Richarlison, and he played up top again in GW3 with Son wide again... And Maddison was very involved plus a goal too, then another in GW4, and the transfer window was still open. So the advice to get Maddison instead was spot on until Ange finally showed that he was ready to drop Rich and wasn't going to play a new striker (like Brennan) up top instead of Son

Again, within the context of pre-GW3

            1. Ze_Austin
              • 7 Years

Not taking anything away from the punt and how well it worked, but just explaining the context behind the comments. None was a straight-up "You're wrong and that's stupid!" or anything like this "lol". Just a conversation based on what was known at the time. And the prediction/explanation was spot on: Son at LW? Would prefer Maddison at CAM. Not Son's fault, but because of how Ange plays his wingers

So the narrative will definitely change now that Son's position has changed. Similar to Rashford LW vs ST

Well done. Didn’t see it coming myself (and there was not much talk of Son before the match). It’s when you’ve worked out why a player might have a good match that it’s particularly satisfying. Change of position but also Burnley’s advanced position was important yesterday

The weirdest thing is Chilwell being subbed of early again like in GW2. Is it because Poch is worried about him picking up an injury or just that he is not performing? I have both Chilwell and Disasi and will be shifting Chilwell first.

Not a narritive, just my opinion. I won't be holding onto Chilwell anyway. Pending Arteta today and how their defence lines up, Gabriel possibly starting may do Chilwell to Gab or White if he plays fullback.

You raise a fair point. Yesterday confirms what week 2 suggested in that Poch considers Chilwell as one of his attackers so he will be subbed off regularly with another attacker when games are not going well, rather than moving him back to defence and taking another defender off. Will keep him another week or two I'd say and plan for fixtures swing

I like to add that Sterling will likely play in front of Chilwell now that Palmer have joined Chelsea, and I expect that to raise Chilwell offensive stats by a lot

        Replay was already on X_X

Joined in the 68th minute. Noni Madueke looks good off the bench here. Could start in GW5. Came on for Chilwell, but played on the right from what I can see. Not sure of the formation after Noni and Palmer replaced Chilwell and Gallagher.

Jackson's miss in the 83rd minute. My word. That was a certain Sterling A. Nothing's wrong with Sterling as an asset, imo

Lacking a front man which can finish is a major problem for Chelsea right now. Nkunku out long term as well. Broja is Broja...

I will be calling Sterling a miss unless he is going to lead the line which may happen.

      Areola.

Contrary to what I read on here, and despite a wobbly defence, Pickford had a pretty decent game. If it wasn’t for a freak own goal he’d have been second highest scorer so far.

Think Hammers have been a little fortunate with results and City will score several

      1. Sir Michael Taker

Pickford had a decent game and he's a decent keeper but not a decent FPL asset in that Everton defence. Most important factor in this conundrum for me is West Ham are a much better team than Everton, a much bigger gap between them than the one between City and Arsenal.

it probably depends on how my 4 players do later, happy enough with my team but currently on 54pts and a 350% red arrow, so i'll find it hard not to pull the trigger over the IB if they all blank, Salah in particular needs to do something as i could do so much by selling him and spreading the funds around, the IB really has come at the wrong time for me cos 2 weeks is a long time for me to stay patient if that red arrow stays the same

    Turner
    Chilwell Espu Saliba
    Salah Diaz Mbuemo Bowen

Wouldn't bench Bowen, if keeping him. He's their talisman and they should get a few counter-attacks in there

Torn on Wissa (on my bench vs Newcastle) vs Estupinan (sold for GW4, buying back for GW10). It's the kind of 50:50 where I start considering stuff like ownership, so maybe Estupinan starts here

Things will be reversed in 2-3 weeks time I reckon, Man united will likely come good with new signings and we will be looking at double, triple up, Arsenal with jesus back could be the go to team again wrt to attacking players. Nunez getting consistent starts, Trippier with Clean sheets and newcastle attackers with fixtuers turning, etc, hence holding on to that WC for a little longer.

I worry for Newcastle. Tottenham look like biggest winners this year with no Europe to worry about. Suspect Arsenal will struggle with squad size to get top four again and Chelsea still struggling. Brentford and Brighton carrying on where they left off but who knows about Europe.

Reckon Forest will be the surprise team this year. Elanga or Awnoniyi the big question

Not sure why Liverpool would want to sell Salah now when they cannot reinvest the proceeds to buy replacements and sacrificing chances to in any silverware.

    Any thoughts?

Merson fella said they will offer 150m for saka in January. Think he's off his head tbh

they can reinvest it in January or next season, 150m+ for a player in their 30's is silly money, and i'd totally get why they'd be tempted to cash in

I don't think either. Champions League is worth much more than the 200mil, and Liverpool won't risk loosing out on champions league. Risk management would scream not to sell. Selling Salah for "mere" 200mil might end up putting them in negative

Why did Sterlings price rise by 0.2? He showed something ONE day… And now he’s back at not scoring again.

Who would you bench for next round? Turner or Onana? I’m thinking Onana.

Also.. i want bowen and Ward-prowse, but can only chose one

he should have a bit of credit in the bank after last season, but they are probably already wondering if he is the right choice to take them up to the elite CL level

Ship Salah out for Son and have Maddison & Son, or just do Maddison to Son?

      I would keep Maddison

Whether you hit your WC or not, you won't be doing transfers in and out unless you want to jump on price rises. Also, IB break and injuries are a pain so I will be holding onto FT's till IB is done but if Salah goes then I won't be wanting to lose value on him so will have to act immediately on getting him out.

Going to be an interesting week!

The new template with Son, Kulusevski and Maddison doing very nicely.

I have Maddison and Udogie from WC4. Pretty glad I didn't add Romero in there as it means I can now get Son if he's inevitable

Did you get Son? This one stings a bit for me tbh, saw this coming but still waited for him to start up top first

Of course not, I’m a Hall of Shame lollygagger! I was set on Rashford > Son setting up the new template but then thought I needed two free trades for the IB, one of which will have always been, you guessed it, Rashford > Son! Benched Rashford this week to for Kulusevski, who was unlucky not to score more.

But I’m really happy Big Ange is off to a great start and after all the doubters it’s good nobody is asking for his head. Hope he goes to Liverpool when Klopp moves on to the German national team.

There's a few very decent players across my MLs, who for obvious reasons I keep a regular che k on their team. All have one thing in common with their strategy - they leave their teams alone for the first few (4-6) gws to let form settle down

4 games 3 pts for Newcastle, this in NOT normal.

i have my eye on Lewis Hall, Burn has been good for them but he's a big lump who is very slow and is pretty limited, though Targett played lb yesterday so he's another one to monitor at only 4.4 while Botman is out

      Easily?

Have you actually watched them playing? They are way off last years form and need to come back on track. Gotta see some indication of form before investing Newcastle assets

Who's the priority sell out of these?

    Sanchez, Mitoma, Jackson?

Sanchez - Chelsea triple up and not convinced of them defensively despite easier fixture run
Mitoma - quality player but likely to be on my bench most weeks over the next few if he stays so why keep?
Jackson - great xgi, but like last season's Nunez

    Who’s more a trade?

Saliba or estu… one has to go for botman/cash.

you want botman why exactly ?

        1. Newcastle fixture swing…
        2. I need some funds to get son.

Newcastle and villa have great fixtures coming up and I want some of that. Estu has terrible fixtures coming up and saliba is hard too. Leaning towards holding estu just for that attacking possibility but still not sure.
