Brought in Jarrod Braithwaite this week.

Currently 7m in the bank, only two transfers to Salah now!

I think so but then again I'm biased as I brought him in 2 weeks ago. Just be wary of the tough run from GW9 and see how you feel about it. I'm happy to play him in those as he's generally done well in games against tougher sides and come out with save pts (and the odd clean sheet) but most probably won't be keen on it

Bukayo Saka also came off during the game, and Mikel isn’t sure if he’ll be available for this weekend. “He was limping quite badly after the match,” he said. “We had to get him off the field, which is never a good sign as well. He hasn’t been able to participate in the session. It’s a possibility, yes [that he could miss the Bournemouth game].”

@R O S E, as per our conversation yesterday, here are some options I have to fit Darwin into my current setup with Salah, Son, Saka Bowen, Alvarez and Haaland. I am still 50/50 about these as I am quite happy how my team is looking at the moment.

First option, cheap defence, rotates very well and you can have it long term. There will be some very tricky GW selection being 11,16, 20, 21, 22 and 26. Other than that you would be fine to go every GW up to 38. This obviously depends on DGW's, suspensions, injuries plus whether you have enough £'s.
    Areola Leno
    Botman Burn Mitchell Tarkowski Kerkez
    Salah Son Saka Bowen Anderson
    Haaland Alvarez Darwin

Second option you will be playing NEW and Spurs defence each GW but they clash with the deadly attacks facing them so I would not go this route unless you want to play both your 4.0's in some GW's.
    Areola Leno
    Botman Burn Porro Bell Al-Dakhil
    Anderson

Third option, again some tricky defence selections in 14, 19 21, 25 and 26.
    Areola Turner
    Botman Burn Porro Mitchell Tarkowski
    Anderson

You get the idea and mabey your SV could be slightly better in order to make adjustments. I like Porro by the way, think he is going to be a better pick than Udogie.

    1. FOO FIGHTER

    Turner Onana
    Akanji Chilwell Beyer Estupinan Pinnock
    Saka* Maddison* Bruno Rashford Diaby
    Haaland Pedro Wissa

    2FT 0.7m ITB

Time to WC? Really wanted to save till the IB but it’s looking difficult to navigate with the injuries, chilly situation and like of Wissa and Pedro not looking great either. Potential WC team would be:

    Turner Areola
    Botman Cash Estupinan Akanji
    Diaby Salah Son Saka/Odegaard Mitoma/Mbuemo
    Haaland

Bench would be 4.0 def and 2x 4.5 fwd

    Hi

What to do next, considering a first hit.

What would you do here... I've got £1.3m itb that provides some options

    1. Saka to Son.
    2. Sterling and Gusto to Gordon and Trippier for a hit.
    3. Saka and Sterling to Son and Gordon for a hit.
    4. Saka, Sterling, Gusto to Son, Gordon, Botman -8.

    ...
I'm unlikely to take a minus 8, but no Botman/Trippier obviously hurt rank hard along with no Son/Maddison.

I've got a Salah team. Current defence is Gabriel, Cash, Estu + Udogie.

Hard to say until we get more news on Saka.
2 is good because you're ridding yourself of 2 CHE players, but then Gordon seems to get a YC each time he plays.

yeah, holding my wildcard for later.

Nice. I think it's just a case of wait and see for Friday. If Saka is out then him to Son and possibly a NEW defender for -4 could work out.

I'm planning a WC9, so I'm looking at short-term options this week, but won't make a decision until I know what's happening with Madds & Saka, of whom I have both.

If I sell Saka and Sterling I've got £17m, with Son that leaves £7.8m for one of ...

    a) March
    b) Mitoma
    c) Bowen
    d) Gordon

Basically anyone else other than Maddison.

I've got Salah, Diaby, Mbeumo and Haaland/Alvarez up front.

The Brighton guys along with JWP, Foden etc are posting consistent numbers ... but it feels like a choice between Bowen or Gordon at the moment.

Who do you prefer for the upcoming 6 weeks?

Bowen, he may very well play no 9 at times if Antonio gets crocked.

yeah, him and Son seem to be the closest to the goal for their respective teams.

is that anything on Antonio or a what if scenario?

Much as I love Brighton, and don't really fear any fixtures for them except maybe City (A), I think its probably best to wait til GW10 to get more info on rotation patterns. Been really impressed by Gordon since GW1 & he's great value. Nothing really against Bowen but I don't really feel particularly excited by him either & I'm also slightly wary that WHU's 2 worst performances of the season so far came in their 2 easiest games so I'm still not sure they're going to smash fixtures like SHU/EVE/NFO

        Bowen has returned

        7
        2
        7
        12
        2
        9

so a decent score every other week.

.... which is good, one in every 1.5 games with 4 goals in 6.

it's the likes of Salah, Haaland and Son oop where you'd hope for something most weeks.

Playing 3-52 this week and not sure which 3 DEF to go with:

    Estu / Cash / Botman / Saliba / Udogie.

My gut is bench Udogie but not sure on the other.

      Probably the first 3.

      Saliba first sub.

I'm currently playing Cash, Estu and Gabriel but just have Udogie on the bench.

Should probably get Botman in for Gusto and bite the bullet now.

I have 4 of those, with Chilwell instead of Udogie.

I'm currently starting Estu, Saliba & Botman - I think both AVL and BHA will score, but my assumption is that Estu has more chance of attacking returns as Cash's position seems to have been pulled back in recent games.

        seems reasonable.

defence has needed a bit of fixing all season.

at that price I could hold Gusto but I'm quite prepared to admit I was wrong on Newcastle.

as ever, it's a week to week reaction tho!

If the plan to WC in GW10 then probably a no brainer to take out Saka for a hit if he's injured, given he has City after? Then the WC can be used to bring him back in ?

      Yeah, good point.

I'm not sold on when to wildcard, it's normally pretty obvious when its needed.

For a hit, it makes the decision more difficult as you have only 3 GWs for it to pay off before WC

Hit depends on who else you could start in his place. Would probably do it for free next week as a deadending move to dodge the City game

didn't Son and Maddison show that strong attacking players are by and large fixture proof?

I'd just play them, even against Man City.

        if fit of course.

cup games and an international break on the horizon too.

Hmm I do see your point & never considered benching either of them this weekend but I guess I still make something of an exception for City given how they outplayed Arsenal last season. Don't think I'll be selling Saka myself (if fit) but with a WC right after I'd be tempted to go for it

1FT, 2.5 ITB - Thinking to do Archer to Morris then WC next week. Would you do this or WC this week?

    Flekken - Turner
    Dias - Botman - Estupinan - Udogie - Kabore
    Rashford - Saka - Fernandes - Maddison - Mbuemo
    Haaland - Alvarez - Archer

Replaced Jackson with Darwin - hedging on better value than going for Salah which cost like 80% more.
Will tie up to many resources as I “have to” have Haaland.

    Your thoughts?

Darwin is ok but don't really feel like he can cover Salah. Feel like nobody can cover Salah in the Pool team just based on his nailedness + penalties already

      1. The Bandit
        • 15 Years

He doesn't have to cover him tbf, depends on how well he invests the extra money.

I’m sure Darwin can easily cover Salah or I’m not ranked 4.2 million!

My main thought is you don't win much for having a valuable team. What can you do with the money saved by going for Darwin over Salah? That's the key question because Salah is obviously a much better FPL option than Darwin in isolation.

I think value is becoming an issue again though. Its not like I'm splashing the cash on an 8th attacker in lieu of Salah - it's actually not that easy (for me at least, perhaps my TV is a factor) to fit him in alongside Son, Maddi, Saka, Trippier etc. Also think with Brighton rotation and Brentford's declining form there now seems to be more a gap opening up between the 8-9m mids and the 6.5m bracket (i.e. JWP/Gordon aren't really going to cover the likes of Saka/Maddi if I have to sacrifice one of them)

          Bowen might 😉

He certainly offers value and the budget is a constraint somewhere for most teams.

2ft and 0.2itb. Any obvious moves to make?

    Johnstone
    Chilwell Saliba Kabore
    Salah Saka* Maddison* Mbeumo Diaby
    Haaland Alvarez

    Turner; Estupinan, Udogie, Mubama

Thinking about Chilwell -> Botman (wish I had done it last week already...) + maybe Estupinan -> Cash as well

Chilwell to Botman or Walker is a good option too.

Hope for the best on Saka and Madds because you can't get to Son without selling both and they are good holds.

Ultimately, there's still a trade off in this game.

Especially as you have Salah with Haaland so it's just how it is if you can't have Saka and Son!

Hold Estu, what's the thinking there?

The next 3 for him are tough and also due to Brighton being in Europe I expect him to get rotated somewhere in the easier fixtures.

    On WC:

    a) Hold Estu vs Villa away this week (0.3itb), then do B next week, he'll probably be on bench but with Saka and Madds yellow flags, he might be subbed in.
    b) Estu > Cash vs Brighton at home and have 0.7m in the bank which gives more flex if Saka ruled out for multiple weeks.

Brighton still putting in great attacking numbers and he's a feature isn't he?
