De Zerbi said: “Estupinan is injured and he can't play for a long time. He's an important player we are losing. We can play in that position with [Tariq] Lamptey, Igor [Julio].” According to Andy Naylor from the Athletic, the Italian added: “One month, more or less. Muscular injury.”

What GW do we think Estupinan returns to Brightons starting lineup?

You need Bowen, and no need for 2 Newcastle defence. Downgrade Burn, get rid of Garnacho, and possibly Diaby if not fit. Maybe downgrade Salah also to spread the dosh a bit better, possibly on a better 3rd striker

          1. RICICLE
            • 3 Years

Double NEW defence is certainly worth it. JWP is a nice alternative to Bowen, Salah is certainly needed also over this run of fixtures, Mubama only needs to become Archer.

    2. Zenith UK

I disagree with BB, but I don't think Son/Maddison double up is required, personally. Maddison > JWP or Bowen. NEW defence double up is fine IMO. Don't like Garnacho, Mubama or Kabore. Otherwise nice team

If you're playing 2 up top every week then you have to get Archer.

Archer is a starting forward playing Fulham this week whilst Mubama bricks one of your Villa spots which you will want.

Garnacho - ship him to Chukwu or Nakamba.

      Upgrade Udogie to Porro.

      GTG.

    Bottomed.

    As it stands;
    Areola
    Trippier, Cash, Udogie
    Salah, Saka, Diaby, Doku, Mbuemo
    Haaland (c), Alvarez

    Flekken, Burn, Archer, Gusto

    Already did Estu > Burn
Got 1FT left with 0.8M in the bank.

    What we thinking?

    A) Saka > Son (free)
    B) Saka > Maddison (free)
    C) Mbeumo & Doku > Maddison & 6.1M mid (-4)
    D) Mbeumo & Diaby > Maddison & 6.2M mid (-4)
    E) Other?

Anyone else in the situation with no defenders and WC already used?

At the moment I have a backline of Estu, Botman, Udogie, Chilwell, Kabore

I basically need to take a -4 just to get 3 out (as Kabore probably gets negative points if he plays vs. Spurs) - yuck!

Midfiled has Exe, and have Pedro on the bench but the midfield has SOn Maddison, Salah Diaby (who probably starts, with Alvarez, Haaland. (i dont think i would WC for too many defensive transfer.

Anyone know if Botman is back for GW9 or after GW9 (as Foo Fighter said)

      Hi Sun.

One of the reasons I activated this week was due to a lack of defensive options in my previous squad.

Chilwell is an easy -4 out. Keep Kabore for long term funds and he plays.

Then if you need another you have to decide on Botman or Estu. Sounds like Estu is out for a while anyway too.

Porro, Trippier and Cash are prime.

Welcome buddy! Diaz a nice addition in if can’t stretch to Salah then, all signs point to him starting also.

I don't think either are essential this week and I am on WC.

A could backfire massively playing Brentford at home, second most shots in the league to Haaland.

Second move is a no since you won't play Lamptey for the two fixtures he will start before Estu returns. Branthwaite is 4m and has Bournemouth at home.

Would you take a -8to get this team? Don’t have WC so a couple player may be questionable lol. Think it’d set me up for the upcoming weeks

    Areola Turner
    Saliba Gusto Pinnock Cash Porro
    Son Saka Salah Diaby Mbuemo
    Haaland Alvarez Semenyo

Would change Saliba Mbeumo Pinnock in the upcoming gameweeks

I can't tell what your moves are but the weak points for the next few weeks are:

      -Saka
      -Mbuemo
      -Gusto
      -Pinnock
      -Saliba

      So that requires:

      +Premium mid (Maddison)
      +Mid mid (JWP/Bowen/Diaby if fit)
      +1 DEF replacement (Porro/Trippier)

Lascelles gets a lot of stick here even from Newcastle fans but he is a brilliant defender. Better than Botman imo.

I still remember his haul for me against Swansea & Burnley. Goals that defined my fpl season. Too bad some Newcastle fans
fail to remember he played a crucial role for them to get promoted for the 17/18 PL season & tonight look at what he did again.

    Club Legend imo.

Fair enough. He spent over 8 years at the club if I’m not mistaken. Led the team to their last promotion back to the PL. Tonight he stopped Mbappe & co. What else does he need to do to be a club legend? Name someone else, maybe Botman & one would say he is a Legend.

I get you but these are attackers & midfielders. Talking about defenders, those who actually contributed or achieved something great at the club & spent years at the club.
Lascelles won’t win the CL but I think it’s fair to consider him as a club legend.

Overrated imo. Took him a whole season to score his first PL goal.

It shouldn’t take a “world class defender” that long.

What really helps Newcastle is that they defend as a team unlike other teams they are better at it & an extremely physical team so Botman is really lucky to have such midfielders & strikers.

Put Botman at Sheffield Utd or Everton & see how good he is.

Lascelles has been amazing for the Toon over the years and is highly regarded by fans and staff hence club captain status, maybe not quite good enough for the first team at the moment but still great to have around

If you watched the 1st half which I did, possession meant F All.

The little I watched of the 2nd half having switched to the City game and eventually seeing Alvarez show who is Boss, Newcastle still looked good.

      They have a winning mentality.

      Mbappe also had 0.02 xG.

Newcastle just beat an Mbappe led Paris side at St James Park in the UCL. I don't think they will care whatsoever about possession stats mate.

      B by a country mile.

      Injured, 2 bad attacking fixtures.

Fernandes - very good xGI and still returning in spite of United's form. Brentford (awful rn) and Sheffield (worst team in the league) next up.

Lindelof if you have a rotation option for 10 vs City.

Incredible fixtures if you need him this week.

You could go VDV at Spurs but that's a huge downgrade from Porro. Burn is fine but slight rotation risk. Schar not nearly as good as Porro as an FPL pick. Trippier significantly better than them all but sounds like you can't get there.

Newcastle. Porro looks fun but wouldn't double up on a defence that isn't keeping many CS.

Maddison has the most attacking returns bar Salah in 2023 away from home.

First in my team this week.

Lamptey is rough as even though he may play the next 2, they are both bad and you likely won't need him. Baldock would likely be back before you need to start Lamptey who will then be shipped for Estu. Veltman or GroB will surely keep starting over him after that 6-1 pumping.

Happy to. I don't think any of the 3.9s are good, I am just getting the ones who are most nailed personally.

Branthwaite and Kabore are arguably both better than Baldock and Taylor, but I can't get there financially.

I'd do this. Nice three fixtures post Arsenal for Alvarez. Watkins at Wolves who play well against Villa potentially with no Diaby.

Red hot form though - difficult.

Both have a good fixture this week then dodgy ones. Andersen due to slightly better fixtures.

I don't think he is worth 0.3 over Guehi and I don't think he is better than:

      Cash
      Porro
      Burn
      VDV
      Aguerd
      Coufal
      Lindelof

      Whichever fits you DEF rotation.

Archer fine to play this week but sounds like you need another.

Yeah I'll keep Diaby even if he's ruled out. Probably the same with Botman. I'm just wondering whether I need to take a hit this week or just play Archer and hope the rest of the 10 starts. The 10 also includes Son.

Not sure Salah is worth sacrificing Trippier, any sort of bench, a decent GK and having to rely and Spurs and AV in defence. If everything goes right it could go massive but it seems too risky to work
