How many games will Botman miss?

No more once he realises he's got anti injury spray on his utility belt. He'll find it eventually.

I reckon he’ll be back for Palace. Nice IB to recover and let the swelling come down.

Nah there is an itk on Twitter who often gets the team news right with Newcastle and he said highly unlikely he's back for Palace. The hope is the game after Vs Wolves . Knee issues are never straight forward though

IB is two weeks now. The knee issue is minor, whats been stopping Botman being able to train/play is the swelling around it. That should subside over the break.

          This is my hope anyway!

It's not about the swelling going down its about what damage is causing the swelling. Worrying they haven't found that

My bench of Turner 6 Palmer 12 Udogie 6 Gabriel? is a bit irritating! Easily beating my 9 points from Son and Maddison!
Still nine today playing all away from City(2), Newcastle(3), Liverpool (1 capt) and Villa(3), but no teams against each other. Won't be sad if Diaby (or any forward/mid) can't play, as would like Palmer points!

    1. FOO FIGHTER

At least you can deal with flags etc with the up and coming IB so strong bench is good and will lead to less transfers.

Yup. Decided to keep a strong bench, pick a team and be transfer free till next wild card if possible.

Also good that you have two quality playing defenders and a enabler on the bench.

Having a benching headache with defenders does not stop you from playing your strongest attack.

That's unlucky but sounds like you picked the right team.

I've always liked the idea of being able to sub in one from the bench to further encourage selecting an actual squad. Would be better than auto subs.

Yep, tweaks like that would stop some of the team copying that makes the game less a challenge of skill, more of picking the best guru.

Both Son hauls have been away and he has blanked the rest of his games apart from assist at Pool. I would get rid as he also has a habit of playing 70/80 mins. Also carrying an injury. I think he is a terrible pick tbh.

Son atm. Erling is a good option this week, Salah can be affected by early kick off (not because of curse or anything spooky theory) because both Diaz and Darwin (also McAllister) travels long trip from South America, which usually makes Liverpool a bit leggy. I think Salah will return in that game, but I think both Son and Erling stands a better chance to get two each. Merseyside derby also a factor that can go in different directions.

Son for me this time I think, think this game will suit him far more than Luton. Haaland of course has to be considered too though especially given City's tendency to score a few against Brighton in recent times (I'm ignoring the last game given the title was won by then). Would consider Alvarez too if he wasn't going to be playing in SA late in the week before it

      1. The Mentaculus
        • 5 Years

How do you think Fulham will suit Son? Just curious because this isn't a fixture I'd considered Spurs captaincy for at all. Maybe I'm in the minority in how I rate Fulham defence but them conceding more than 2 with Palhinha is an extreme rarity

        1. Nate(U)dog(ie)
          • 5 Years

I think given Fulham happily commit men forward in attacks that there will be gaps to exploit, I can see it actually being a bit end-to-end. Robinson and Castagne are good but they like to attack a lot and it normally leaves the CBs a bit exposed, I know Palhinha can make a difference there but I'd say he'll have his hands full with Sarr and Maddison

          1. The Mentaculus
            • 5 Years
            2 years, 9 months ago

Hmm ok I guess Castagne changes the balance slightly but this fixture has usually been tight & I'm not sure I see that changing tbh. Fulham away at the top sides have been impressively organised from what I remember

      4 or 5.

      Avoid a -16 I guess.

but really on a wildcard you'd want to change 7 or 8 places.

I'm not sure if wildcarding into this week will have worked in the short term.

4-5 urgent transfers for me. I might be tempted with a -12 to save a WC if absolutely necessary but don't think I'd ever do a -16.

If you have 4-5 urgent changes, you probably have 3-4 nice to have but not essential changes too, so gives you the opportunity for a good revamp on WC

Probably -12, although there are circumstances (albeit rare) where I'd possibly rather hold onto a WC and do that instead of using it. Anything more I'd definitely use WC

Not a straightforward questions as it depends who you are removing e.g. Injured player or for a doubler, when you plan to WC and give yourself enough GWs to pay off the hit

What's everyone's current rank and your target for the end of the season? I'll start.

    Target: Top 50k

    1. FOO FIGHTER

      Old rank: 2,135,773
New Post-Subs 4,787,344 with pretty much my whole team still to play.

Hit happy week but like you, going no Haaland just feels refreshing plus could not stand looking at a sh*te bench anymore and with injuries becoming a major thing now, rotation and other variables, wanted to prepare for any surprises over the IB. Ranks are also still very tight so anything possible.

    Usually I make transfers early.
Have swallowed a 0.2 drop on Estupinan (and therefore a 0.1m in selling value) as I've got defensive cover for the next couple where I wouldn't have played him anyway, so is he a hold now, or should I just get rid?

I've got Trippier, Cash, Udogie, Pinnock

    1. fish&chips
      • 15 Years
      2 years, 9 months ago

I'd hold since you have cover. Brighton's form is a bit concerning but they're a good team and he's super attacking and he'll be a good differential for you by the time their sweet fixtures come in GW10

      1. Sir Michael Taker

    3. Nate(U)dog(ie)
      • 5 Years
      2 years, 9 months ago

I think not making early moves is right, but personally given he's injured I don't see an issue with getting rid. Given the type of injury it is and RDZ saying he's out "for a long time" followed by an estimate of a month "more or less", I think he'll end up missing at least 4 games. I've seen people saying "he'll be back for Fulham" and haven't a clue where they've gotten it from unless they use a different calendar than me. He only said on Wednesday that he's out, so a month means he'll likely miss 4 games (so Fulham and Everton included), and as it's muscular and given his style of play I'd say if that's true then he'll return as a sub before a start, meaning I could see him not getting his first start again until GW13.

I mean I'm making assumptions here but I think they're all realistic since they're based directly on RDZ's comments, and he's usually very straightforward

Every transfer I've made since wildcarding has been to replace an injured player. This week I started Morris and got his one point rather than replace Botman. I've taken price drops and missed opportunities, but no way am I going early.
I've now got 2FTs to deal with an inevitable pair of injuries my squad will pick up in the International Break.

    Salah Son Sterling Diaby Mbeumo
    Haaland Alvarez 4.5.

The plan is for a hit to get Saka back and Gordon in, for Sterling and Mbeumo.

But is Palmer now a good option instead, at 4.9m and on penalties?

Actually that fixture run makes it easier to have Palmer as you will most of the time not be considering or tempted to play him unless you're forced to. Too tempting fixture run will make your decisions harder/ and when they ease and if he then shows he can do something you can turn him into the seventh attacker and be ahead of the curve.

Palmer as your 5th mid but since you have only 2 playing forwards, he will have to play every GW unless you can rotate with your 4th def. Chelsea's fixtures are not ideal.

Couldn’t they do those games in one go after the season ends (since the season would end earlier with no international breaks)

"literally"? International managers want them. How else are they to prepare for Continental and World Cups? I think most people like their nation to do well in the Euros and World Cup. I seem to remember England doing quite well and with popular support.

The international managers probably dread them as well 😆

You and AC/DC are both right of course but I also don't like IBs - I see them as a necessary evil

One massive World Cup with every nation - now that would be a party and a tournament!

So you want a 5-month international break? Great 🙁

True that would be tough, though once season ends tend to forget about fpl.

Could be a good scouting window for following years’ players

I like this idea - just one massive tourney that lasts all summer - I'd be divorced
