Took a rage -12 hit last week after a disaster GW, scored 80 this GW with 3 to go. Hits sometimes pay off

Alvarez and Son out as part of the -12 may end up hurting if Son also returns. Good to have Mo in long term though.

Basically Salah (C) paid off big time and also some hits taken in the last 2/3 GWs started to pay off

What should I do with 2 FTs now? (0.0itb)

I'm considering something similar - just WC'd, have Son + Madds and will probably move one of them to an ARS mid.

Either Son > Saka or Madds > Marti

Concerned over Mart's minutes though, and I think Madds is probably a season-keeper.

Will wait till after Monday's game and assess. Good thing is Saka is nowhere near a rise so can be patient.

Which managers are now considered most untrustworthy in the league terms of:

    1) Injury news in pre-match pressers

    2) Seemingly random squad rotations.

I get the feeling Pep may not be on the podium for this survey this season.

Pep has been surprisingly cool with the roulette this year - especially in the attacking positions.

For me it's Howe, Arteta and Cooper

      1. Sheffield Wednesday
        • 5 Years
        2 years, 1 month ago

        1)
        Howe straight out lies
Arteta uses word soup to basically say nothing, but if he does say something it could be lies.

        2)
De Zerbi rotates too much for my liking or play attacking players as defenders, hence I still own Mbeumo rather than Mitoma/March.

RE Brighton, yep, our attacking players are rotated on a weekly basis, so it makes them a no-go (except possibly Mitoma, who seems to be the least prone to being benched, but still the odd game...)

However, March suffered what looked like a nasty ankle injury yesterday, so the RW spot might be Adingra's for a bit of time.

In defence, Estupiñán is the only one I'd consider once fit - too many goals shipped so banking on attacking returns.

Son + Trip > Taylor + Salah (Leaves a back three of Cash/Udogie/Schaar, also have Madisson)

So is sacrificing Haaland to get players like Salah, Trippier, Son, Saka.. a huge mistake?

    Team now:

    Leno
    Walker* Tsimi Saliba
    Son Maddy* Rash* Mbeumo*
    Haaland* Alvarez Watkins

    Turner HeeChan* Bell** Udogie

    Haalandless potential team:

It wouldn't be a huge mistake as you're able to get pretty much every other good FPL asset in by sacrificing Haaland.

It's a really bold call though, because if Haaland returns then your rank will badly suffer

This is the issue with Haaland.

Right now Alvarez is matching Haaland every week.

But my thought is, what happens to Alvarez when KdB comes back?

I wonder if Haaland is suffering because

        1) Alvarez is starting every week and eating into his points

2)There’s no KdB supplying him with ammunition.

KdB coming back could change that whole equation completely back in Haaland’s favour.

Or it could continue that Alvarez matches him all season and those that sold Haaland and went with Alvarez end up being the winners.

It’s just hard to think that at some point soon the Alvarez wagon doesn’t derail and Haaland starts hauling again.

        1. Ze_Austin
          • 7 Years

KDB hasn't been around since early in GW1. Haaland has 9G 1A without him

There's definitely been a drop-off in his last 4, but I don't think that's due to KDB or Alvarez. Maybe Doku's impact, Rodri's absence, going down to 10 men, Wolves' and Arsenal's excellent tactics against City... Or all of these combined

Son and Saka should be among top 5 overall for the foreseeable future, imo. Son has already shown that bad fixtures are good for him (incisive runs, just like the Vardy days), so he's an easy long-term hold and regular captain option. Saka is Arsenal's FPL talisman

Maddison, Watkins and Bowen are excellent in their own rights, but I'll place them just below those two. I think Odegaard's points can be covered by much cheaper players than him, with one explosive game papering over the cracks of his inconsistency this season

      1. Eleven Hag
        • 8 Years

If you can afford only one of Son and Saka who would it be?

Looking at combinations, I'd say Saka + Maddison probably works long-term

Bowen + Watkins could go nuts with those fixtures, but maybe Soucek in the Bowen spot and Diaby in the Watkins spot, depending on how all four play

I can’t really see how you can do that without selling Haaland.

    My team for this GW:

    Areola
    Cash Schar Udogie
Son Bruno F Saka Maddison Mbeumo
    Haaland(C) Alvarez

    Leno Botman* Estu* Archer

Mbeumo offset going without Salah to some extent but I had to make some changes.
So I did Son Bruno Estu Botman to Salah Anderson Trippier Tsimikas (-8) last night before the price changes. I dont know how to feel about this, mates. Especially with Trippier. Im not sure if this wasnt classical chasing of previous points. His next fixs arent so great but so many people have him now that I wanted to guard against it. What is your opinion on these transfers?

Bruno to Salah is the big upgrade.

Not having Trippier has cost me some ground.

It was between staying 3-5-2 or getting Trippier.

Do you think Tsimikas will play in most games when Liverpool arent playing the top teams?

Would you keep Mbeumo in midfield or turn him into Gordon or Jensen to afford Sterling back to Saka?

I've got 1m itb so need to find 0.5m.

Think I’m gonna keep Mbeumo, loved how he was back in a much more attacking role yesterday with the changes

I would sell for Gordon, if it funds Saka.

I've got 2 FTs so there's an option below which I don't think is a downgrade particularly in goal.

What a season Alvarez is having. I was lucky enough to buy at 6.5m. Even last week I still see some prominent people using his overachieving stats as justification for not owning him. Crazy really.

I noticed in the news that both Real and Barca want him but surely City would never sell him unless he wants to leave.

I have managed without Alvarez all season, but he is a bit of a thorn. I started with Foden and didn't want triple, so I just never got him.

Yeah I really cant see myself getting rid, I want Watkins for that Luton game but it’ll mean I go 343. Unless I do the unthinkable and drop Haaland.

There's an alternative route, I can sell Martinez for Areola which affords Sterling into Saka with 0.2m left.

    Keeping Mbeumo for now.

I've got Cash and Diaby and don't really want to double up on the Villa defence often.

Turner and Areola don't rotate home and away that well in a few weeks, but the 3 games in gw15, 16 and 19 that are trickiest are when Villa play Man City, Arsenal and Man Utd.

So it's a compromise worth making. Also will use my first wildcard around gw15 anyhow.

Arsenal looked second best for most of it

But Saka turned it on late in the game, along with the rest of the team (including subs). His assist needed some brave finishing from Trossard (almost collided with the post, IIRC) but it was a good cross

Based on highlights and reports, Saka was well marshalled by Cucu and his assist was the only couple times he broke free

Son to Saka is the easiest route.

Loads of European games coming up again.

Villa go to AZ on Thurs evening before Luton at home next Sunday.
