Advice appreciated! 2 FT, 0.6 ITB.

    A) Son & Mubama -> Watkins & Chukwumeaka
    B) Maddison & Mubama -> Watkins & Chukwumeaka

A allows Botman & Burn -> Trippier & 3.9D next week. No path to Trippier with B.

    Sanchez
    Saliba, Cash, Udogie
    Salah, Son, Maddison, Bowen, Neto
    Haaland, Alvarez

    (Areola, Burn, Botman, Mubama)

    Cheers

    Hi All,

Help needed - should I give up trying to get Watkins into this?

    Areola (Leno)
    Colwill, Cash, Tsimi (Anderson) (Kabore)
    Salah, Son, Madders, Bowen, Diaby
    Harland, Alvarez (Archer)

Very similar setup (see above). I am getting Watkins in, from memory he has some good fixtures coming up too. Just undecided on losing Son vs Maddison.

Yeah I don’t want to lose either but madness I know to get rid of Alvarez and also take a hit by downgrading Anderson but that’s the option I’m looking at

Have 2 FT's, current thought is Maddison, Lamptey > Saka, Tsimikas

    Leaves me with:
    Areola,
    Cash, Burn, Udogie, Tsimikas
    Salah, Son, Saka, Bowen,
    Haaland, Watkins

    Turner, Taylor, Archer, Anderson

    Thoguhts?

Why a -4? Have you already made transfers? Both Tsimikas and Gabriel should be affordable if you sell Udogie.

Ouch, never make early transfers unless you're going to get shafted by a price rise.

Udogie is still 75% chance of playing, so 'i'd just go with him and hope for the best. Kabore doesn't always start and could get a minus if he does and Villa demolish Luton. Lamptey injured. You could possibly have only two defenders playing this weekend.

ill assess tomorrow if any news comes out early, thinking if i take -4 for Gabriel and he keeps a clean sheet ill still be 2 points up rather than no defender playing.

That's the only upside, Tsimikas a more of a risk as was subbed on 62 mins so only just got CS, and always danger of Liverpool conceding. Gabriel safer if you're going to do it. You'll be praying he get's 6 points

Areola + Leno can be rotated practically the whole season. When one has a tough fixture, the other one has a good one. If you want someone cheaper than Leno, I'd pick Johnstone.

Keep Cash until Digne has had his fifth yellow. Then Digne is a good option once he comes back from suspension

    3. bench boost for every gamew…
      • 9 Years
      2 years, 5 months ago

That's depending on your whole squad. For instance, do you have a fourth or even fifth defender that you can play when Cash's fixtures turns? Or are you happy to play him if you have to? Would you be as happy playing Pau? Would you be happy if you have a good fourth defender that slots in when Villa got a tough one? Likewise for Palmer, same questions asked. I think Palmer as your eight attacker could be good when fixtures turns. He's probably worth 6-6.5 because if he were listed as a Chelsea mid, he would be around Mudryk/Gallagher price.

Happy to see most are having this problem, I thought most had him already. Will be unpopular on here but I’m taking Alvarez out - you can downgrade elsewhere with the extra FT. 4m Branthwaite I’m looking at

    5. bench boost for every gamew…
      • 9 Years

That's not the easiest set up, Haaland and Jwp to Son and Watkins?
Yes you're losing Haaland but Alvarez is there. Not for cover, but if City do well, he's doing well too. Because defences are now marking Haaland much more and that leave spaces for Julian to run into. Haaland can smash it, so you must be willing to that risk, but at the same time, Son and Watkins can also smash it. And if Haaland scores hattrick I will bet my next salary on Alvarez being involved in the points as well.
If you're not willing, the easiest way is to downgrade one of Jwp or Mbeumo to say Palmer and then get Watkins that way.
A bit trickier could be to sell Tripps and one of your Mb or JwP to afford Archer to Watkins (not sure you got enough?)

This may be risky but I'm thinking of taking a 4 point hit to do
Haaland, Botman and Gordon to Alvarez, Trippier and Saka

    My current team is:

    Turner Areola
    Botman Cash Burn Udogie Kabore
    Salah Son Maddison Bowen Gordon

I'm thinking two are upgrades and one is sideways so probably worth it overall.

    4. bench boost for every gamew…
      • 9 Years

That looks at first sight risky, but with Botman injured (and very difficult to know how exactly timeline) you're fixing a potential problem. You'll have to risk going without Haaland, and I did myself, but if you're fine with that I think it looks good.
      A: fixing problem and upgrade
B: Saka over Gordon is upgrade (Saka potential cap option and on some pens)
C: That's one helluva risk. But Alvarez as long as he plays, and from what I've seen so far, will keep annoy those who have Haaland and not Alvarez. Two things: they have built a partnership, which means if one get returns, possibility is good for the other as well. And the way City plays, Haaland is distracting more defenders which creates more room for Alvarez. A big minus is of course Alvarez is a lot more risky to cap than Haaland.

After the red card last game, fewer defenders were needed, hence the early sub for Tsimikas.

    4. bench boost for every gamew…
      • 9 Years

It depends on how the game goes. Last week he was lucky because that change was planned in the dressing room at halftime because of the gamestate.
I think Klopp will start Tsimikas in most games as he trust him a lot and while he isn't Robertson he is a like for like, which means system will not be as much altered.
But there is one game I think Klopp might prefer Gomez. And that's City.
And if he plans that, he have to prepare for that and he will probably, if that's the plan, do that in EL. And if that works, with a slightly more three at the back while right back inverts, he might try it home at Brentford, because Brentford plays usually with a front two in tough games, and a back three is a good set up to combat that.
Add to the little bit of fear that Tsimikas is prone to be taken off early there's always a risk in that. But realistically, small chance.

Not a big chance, but I think Saka may sit bench vs SHU. It's one of two or three chances he can get rested throughout the whole season.

Or in the League Cup the following midweek

        Agree this may probably happen

I really don't think Arteta will bench any of his best players in the PL, unless they have a Cup final midweek.

Arteta is Jigsaw, Saka just one of his victims at this stage. I see a long and significant injury happening soon the ways its going now

          Yeah I agree.

Saka is to Arteta, what Rashford was to OGS. Will run him to the ground.

Well, he basically just rested through international break...

It makes sense to me but I think we all know BOC is right about Arteta so I'll never expect league/ UCL rests

With the Udogie doubt, do you think Udogie > Gabriel (-4) would be worth it (if he's not starting, that is)?

I have Taylor (BOU) to come off the bench, or Kabore (AVL).

I guess I would be slightly likely to move Udogie onto Gabriel soon anyway, albeit in my 'free transfer' plan it wouldn't have happened till GW13 earliest.

Tsimikas also a consideration I guess, given I'd probably need to play Gabriel vs NEW in GW11?

      Save the 4 points Hazz.

hits not worth it for defenders imo

They're worth it if you have a non-playing defender and no options otherwise)

yeah, any hit is worth it then but thats not the case here

Taylor's ceiling has been 2 points this season (so far). Only 2 GWs he got that - the rest are fewer.

Kabore plays Villa which could be a thumping.

Although for sure, there definitely is a chance SHU could bust a cleanie - it feels like the risk of it backfiring massively is low, and the chance it pays off isn't tiny?

        Generally no - I'd agree.

        However:
        - Likely CS for ARS vs SHU
        - Gabriel headed threat (SHU poor at set pieces)
        - Taylor unlikely to keep a CS
        - Sets me up with ARS defence

Would have been playing Udogie vs. CHE anyway (when Gabriel vs. NEW), where I'd probably be playing Palmer and hoping Chelsea score (also as a fan!)

Gut feeling is somewhat positive on this one. If he ends up being out...

I would do it myself, for Gabriel. Best fixture of the season of him, heightened ceiling... and I'm just not sure I could bring myself to actually start a Burnley defender (and Kabore is even worse this week)

Yeah. If I hear anything about Udogie not starting I'm going to be pretty tempted with the switch.

I's say yes,, without knowing the other two.

      Just because of the fixture.

I have Saliba, but will bring in Tsi next week, for Porro, and may but i doubt do it for Saliba, and bring back Gabriel
