If to do one, which option would you prefer? Can afford both exactly.

    A) Burn + Maddison > Saliba + Bowen (Exact funds)
    B) Burn + Maddison > Lascelles + Saka (Exact funds)

    Cheers guys.

A returns more points I think but Saka is such a favoured pick that I think quite a few will suggest B just because he's included

Cheer buddy, yeah it’s a toughie, I mean Option A doesn’t even have to be Saliba, it’s just that it can be just about afforded, and I have major trust issues surrounding Gabriel haha!
I may have actually missed the boat on Bowen but I can’t complain doing well overall.

Don't think you've missed the boat on Bowen, his fixtures stay pretty good to GW18. He has risen in price a bit but Maddo has as well

Do like Lascelles as a pick and have gone there this week from Udogie. depending on Newcastles injury issues should be good value for awhile I think? I am terrible at picking defenders though so likely Botman comes on for him at 59 minutes next game.

            Cheers mate!
Yeah true I guess, both players have risen and down well so not as late as I initially presume really, nice fixtures to come as well for WHU

Lascelles is excellent value, and I do like the idea of just sticking with double NEW defence.
Defence has been a horror show for everyone this season. Haha I don’t think Botman would make a miraculous recovery like that haha! I hear ya though, the luck with defenders this season, mind boggling.

I may just about be deciding to go with option B then purely because of Lascelles value, and that Saka Burnley fixture.

    Interesting Toon lineup last night:

    Pope

    Trippier, Lascelles, Schar, Hall

    Longstaff, Guimares, WIllock

    Livramento, WIlson, Joelinton

Who will be the LB v Bournemouth?

probably Hall again, i know he was hooked at HT against Dortmond but Bornemouth should be alot easier for him, and he needs the gametime to get up to speed if he's going to have a future at Newcastle

        Pope
        Trippier Lascelles Schar Hall
        Willock Longstaff Joelinton
        Livra Miggy Gordon

        Or

        Longstaff Miley Willock
        Miggy Gordon Joelinton

If I sell Cash* it's such a rip-off losing £0.4m on the exchange.

If he's injured his value is zero until you sell him.

If he's not injured he needs to start getting some attacking returns because Villa aren't so CS friendly and his points aren't great if you deduct his GW3 flier.

I benched him this week so can wait it out if he's back after the IB. Question is do I need four options in defence or just go with three plus two 4m defenders. If I sell Cash there won't really be a path to getting him back if he stays above £5m.

GW12 captain using Opta stats, fixture rankings and betting odds

Using weighted Opta stats and fixture difficulty from https://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk . My captain ranking for GW12:
Cast the net a little wider this week

    1. Haaland
    2. Salah
    3. Watkins
    4. Son
    5. Jackson
    6. Bruno
    7. Mitoma
    8. Nketiah

    Qualitative analysis:
Haaland gets a higher score than anyone else this week because:
    * Highest xGI for the season rank
    * 5th highest xGI for last 4 matches
    * MCI is second only to LIV on non pen xG taking fixture difficulty for attackers into account so far.
    * Most controversial: Chelsea have the 3rd best xGC so far but they have had the 4th easiest fixtures for defenses. Haaland loses score for Chelsea's defence but not enough to take him from the top spot.

    Details and analytics: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13YfEflQIv4eiC70TQg9MtupZ7MUKRxBN?rtpof=true&usp=drive_fs

    Last week nothing worked.

Constructive feedback welcome, especially any maths errors.

If it matters to you overall rank 39k but all chips used (trying something different this season). Spiked some nice ones like TC Harland 20 points, 25 points BB, decent free hit. WC was a mistake GW2 on a Twitter rumor of Salah being out. But fought the GW8-10 wildcards nicely so far. . Nice not to have to worry about my bench and 2nd goalkeeper. Less DGW this season also.

Multiple top 10k finishes, 2 top 1000 finishes. I play when I have time and when feel like it. Last few seasons not so much.

    https://fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/2025022/history

Midweek games played but not taking into account pressers.

Let me know if you want anyone else modeled.

Follow me on twitter/x for more: https://twitter.com/rakkhis . Youtube vids here, maybe this week one on Mitoma for a hit: https://youtube.com/@fplrants

That’s great, love the detailed analysis. I feel FPL is a lot to do with instinct and whether Haaland is going to be a consistent goal machine is one of those judgements. Seems a lot of people have decided he isn’t and have dropped him. His stock seems up at the moment with a casual brace yesterday and the stats are a great leveller to justify that there’s every reason he’ll do well on Sunday.

Chelsea is another instinctive decision, sometimes considered defensively tight, sometimes lower league standard. I think their win will give them confidence but I still think they’re in the rebuilding stage and will get rolled over by City.

Interesting you have Jackson so high. He’s always had good stats. No Darwin or Mbeumo? And think Mitoma might be potential captain material

Thanks! Intuative captain wasn't working for me. Wanted to try a more quantiative approach. Only been doing it since GW9, so far hasn't had great results but I want to try it for the whole season. At worst case gives me some data to adjust my weights with a machine learning model for next season.

I modeled Mitoma for this reason, but yeah doesn't seem great. Jackson has scored as many goals as Watkins..
Have not done Darwin or Mbuembo. Can add if you want.

Gosh these non-Haaland teams have horrible bench dilemmas. Is Cash definitely out? I’d have thought him ahead of Tsimikas? Brentford seem on a good run at the moment. Otherwise Saliba seems good for Tsimi.

Gordon up front with no other forwards but Newcastle weakened all over.
I love Martinelli but his points drop when Nketiah on the pitch.
If ever there is a game when Mitoma is rested its the next one.
Kudus a punt and a wait and see IMO.
I am looking at Gordon but may revert to Arsenal.

I won't be selling Mbeumo but if starting from scratch this week I'd choose A because of the fixtures.

What am I missing? Livramento is a listed defender playing up front. Why aren’t people all over this?

He isn't though. He played one half there clearly to give Almiron a rest and bring him on later. Then reverted to right back. And Hall also played so it's unclear who will start between Hall and Livramento this weekend.

Minefield! So Ward is still likely a better Burn replacement at this stage?
