    Morning all!

    Dubravka
    Cash Mykolenko Tsimi
    Gordon Doku Son Salah (c)
    Haaland Watkins Darwin

With slight doubts on Gordon and Doku, and with Darwin's start looking a bit iffy, are any of the below for a hit:

    A) Doku to Sterling
    B) Burn to Livramento/Saliba
    C) Anything else?

    Thanks!

B looks good, but depending on your bench could quite easily roll the transfer.

Sorry, i forgot to add my bench. it's not a pretty sight! I have Areola/Douglas Luiz/Kabore/Burn

i already did Turner to Dubrovka with my FT so any of these would be for a hit

Bench looks alright to me - Burn the only obvious issue. Probably worth getting him out for -4 for Saliba this week, as Arsenal CS is fairly like. Equally could just do it next week.

Cheers. Yeah it's probably not as bad as I think with Rodri suspended and Villa playing at home, meaning Douglas Luiz is a decent replacement should Doku not play. Saliba is also a good long term pick, so the -4 would pay itself off

Darwin should get some mind even if benched & I'm guessing Gordon will be ok (plus he's a longer-term hold for than Doku anyway), but I'm kind of expecting Doku to be out. Have all 3 & I'm starting Darwin & Gordon, selling Doku unless we get further news

Grealish out doesn’t have any significance, ever.

No Rodri and Villa very strong at home so there is a good chance they can win or a score draw.

I use on FT this week to upgrade to Dubrovka. Trust me, it will feel great knowing you wont eb forced to see Areola stink up your team week in week out.

Next week i would then use 1/2 FT's to do either of these (not 100% sure if A works money wise):

A)Alvarez to Edouard and Mbeumo to Son
      B) Saka to Son

With the DDG rumours, I am stalling on the Dubravka transfer. Moreover, clean sheets are rare this season.

Very tempted to get Son with his 2 home fixtures coming.

I don't think Haaland puts in a lot of distance in each game to need a rest. It's all quick short bursts

Checked Champions League stats from this season (couldn't find PL ones now). He's averaging 8,81km/game, which is some 10-15% less than other forwards. Checked also per 90 comparison vs. Alvarez: Haaland: 10,0km/90, Alvarez 11,76km/90
Seems there is some distance covered (not as low as eye test would suggest), but indeed he's pressing less and he seems more "rested" during games. This sprint bursts however are his bread and butter and with his size there's always a risk to muscles fatigue.

          Interesting stats.

One thing to note, it has been heavily documented since Haaland joined City, they have changed the way he recovers and manages his body which allows him to play a lot of games. This is compared to his injury issues back in Dortmund.

They won't be rested. Look at the table! They need 3 points in as many games as possible.
This is why we buy Haaland, Salah, Son & Saka instead of Alvarez 'half price - half size', Darwin 'the dud', Richarlison 'looking angry due to the missed chances?' & Martinelli 'points must come at some point - right?'

      I would prefer Trent, yes.
But actually toying with a back three of TAA - Trippier - James.
Only problem with that is having to field Semenyo/Archer/Taylor or Baldock every GW moving forward.

Just need Morris -> Semenyo & Tsimikas -> James which in paper gives me a great team:

      Dubravka
      TAA - Trippier - James
      Salah - Son - Saka - Mbeumo - Palmer
      Haaland - Semenyo

      (Areola, Taylor, Archer, Baldock)

Took my 4th hit of the season this week. Back to back -4s. Darwin is looking like the only bad transfer I've made so far. He gets two more weeks and then maybe he gets binned for Isak.

    Dubravka
    Tsimikas Gabriel Lascelles
    Salah Son Saka Mbeumo
    Haaland Watkins Darwin
    (Areola Guehi Maguire Chukwuemeka)

Seeing people playing Guehi over Lascelles. Can't say I'm a fan of that. Newcastle are a much better defense and Bournemouth are in form. Anyone have a strong opinion that could sway that decision?

Not a strong opinion but I agree. Bournemouth look dangerous and Everton are very hit or miss, especially at home. Lascelles CS very slightly more probable imo.

Yeah I did it. And I gave my reasoning yesterday. Basically, this is a +EV move and looking at my transfer plans going into the blank GW in 18, I'm never gonna have a free transfer available so better to move early now especially since he would get played immediately over Areola, and bank the value and points on the way rather than wait and find myself every week being unable to justify the -4 for the GK especially as Dubravka's spot gets less and less secure.

Same here, another -4 in a row. Between players like Lascelles and Guehi I would always use bookies CS odds, unless I am certain that I know better. I made a mistake(?) of selling Andersen for Lascelles and afterwards Turner to Dubravka. Ditching Alvarez to Nketiah > Darwin was a failure. I believe that I will do formation change to 3-5-2 when Darwin leaves my team.

city could have been 5 up in that first half regardless. And Villa play one way , they can score but have still conceded 20 goals this season. when it backfires it does so fairly spectacularly (look at pool and newcastle) and my hunch is it will happen again here

I'm looking at ways of bringing in Chelsea coverage

From next GW onwards what the best option ? Already have Trippier so Dubravka would be Newcastle double up.

    A) T.Silva & Dubravka/Areola (rotation)
    B) James & Dubravka (Turner as second keeper)
    C) Sanchez & Gabriel (Turner as second keeper)

with A & B I'd bring in Dubravka this GW and play instead of Areola.

Morning all, hope everyone is set up for an exciting midweek slate of matches!

I have been paying much less attention to FPL this season, which is a main factor in my awful 1.8m current rank. (Don't try to do things significantly differently, friends. It's not worth the stress! Follow the herd 🙂 ).

One thing I have noticed however is that for the first season ever there seems to be a a massive shift in player price movements. It used to be purely reactive: players who did well were brought in, players who did badly were dropped. There was, and still is, a multiplier based on how cheap a player is and therefore how easy it is to fit him into squads. There never used to be a forward-thinking element at all, at least not enough to counteract the points-chasing changes that other managers were making.

That's all changed this season. I've seen players who blanked several times in a row be brought in ahead of a good run of fixtures. I have seen players who have not done anything yet (e.g. Dubravka) rise in price, because there are enough managers who pay attention to FPL narratives and understand the consequences for their teams. It may be that more than half of the managers making transfers now are following advice online (or thinking for themselves of course, but I have seen no evidence that this produces better results than several million players' worth of group-think).

It's going to get harder and harder to get good results in FPL, and I will be really interested to see the extent to which this results in FPL fatigue, or people ripping up a record of consistently good finishes in order to beat the template and try to do seriously well (top 1k vs top 100k)

    Areola 3.9
    Trippier Gabriel Saliba Tsimikas (Taylor)
    Salah Saka Mbeumo (Palmer Nakamba)
    Watkins Haaland Isak

    Start Palmer over someone?

      50/50

I'd go Isaak. If we knew that both had 90, I'd go Palmer due to pens.

Only one i'd consider is him over Gabriel/Saliba. Arsenal CS is reasonably likely but putting Palmer in diversifies your chances should Arsenal not get a CS (Luton scored in every home game bar 1). Palmer also has a higher ceiling than either of them
