3 out of the playing 11 and the squad is 29, so yep.

Even tho. the term isn't literal anymore. Wasn't it to do with Roman legions?

Worse than decimated then for starting 11.

Modern continual incorrect use of a word doesn't make it correct, just means more people are getting it wrong 😉

That's literally not how language works, friend. Meaning reflects common usage, whether the pedants and nerds accept it or not.

language evolves and modern use becomes prevailing and then meaningful. Unless you are French who rule it out.

It's not as damaging as say medical practice where doctors actually prescribed smoking as a treatment for certain ailments. We should thank advancement sometimes.

Albeit, probably not in military methods looking around the world today ... going back to the Roman legions, if that's where the word originated?

It still makes it wrong ... the misuse use of decimated is clear, people mistook it for devastated and used it as such, accidentally and incorrectly ... it's hardly evolution like deliberately referring to a word to mean something else, something such as 'sick' or 'bad' or a 'kicking' or a 'wordly' goal ... it is just misuse and ignorance of the origin of the word which was to kill one in ten soldiers of a Roman section of legion that ran away.

            Journalists should know better 🙂

Don't be silly ... it's the 'soft' c in deci- they introduces the one tenth concept

                deci-
                /ˈdɛsi/
                combining form
(used commonly in units of measurement) one tenth

deci- a combining form meaning “tenth,” used in words denoting units of the metric system (deciliter); on this model, extended to other systems (decibel).

Luton is down by London. Relatively far.

They are travelling by plane. Were due to travel last night but it couldn't land so instead have a flight scheduled for 9:20 this morning.

I'd say the only hope if you want Haaland to play is if Pep changed his mind last night, haha.

I'm planning to go Alvarez to Watkins soon...

I reckon I can then go from Archer to Cunha and that leaves room for Haaland to Solanke.

Would you hold Man City attack for Palace at home tho?

Bournemouth have Luton at home in gw17 then away at Forest.

Wolves looks tougher with West Ham and Chelsea but they are solid at the moment too.

    It's a funny business football.

The received wisdom was to ditch Villa defence a couple of weeks ago.
But take Martinez, 19 points picked up against Man City and Arsenal.

The Villa home form holds firm.

But he's still down the pecking order, with Onana ranked 2nd of the goalkeepers behind Alisson who's missed a couple too.

    1. Haa-lala-land

I would never have predicted 2 cleanies for Villa in their last two home games. I'm also not even sure if it means it will continue.
Martinez is though, good on the baps even without making saves

What exactly is he right about? Ten Hag supported him to the hilt last season, gave him extended breaks and kept him in the loop. Sometimes enough is enough.. sadly mediocrity is encouraged nowadays at Man United.

I feel sorry for Ten Hag on some levels. One of the hardest jobs in football; entitled fans, lack of strategic thought in regards to football matters at board level, disproportionate number of opinionated ex Utd pundits and bad dressing room.

Still he did spunk a load of cash on one trick pony Anthony. So you can not feel that sorry for him.

Sancho is a notoriously bad trainer. Was always late even at Dortmund, per teammates. He's had plenty of opportunities and squandered them.

You should only get away with it at the top level if you were someone like Hazard. He's nowhere near that level.

There's probably no one right thing anyway, it's a mess.

You think de Zerbi is a likeable character? It's not a popularity contest.. I accept man-management is a big aspect of ten Hag's job, but judging his character is lazy. Maybe he's not the right fit for Man United.. and saying that is probably a compliment to his standards and ambition.

            or Emery...

he cares about results and improvements, not keeping his squad happy and warm.

tbf, those playing looked pretty happy with the end result yesterday but perhaps Arsenal were a little unlucky not to get the rub of the green.

          yeah...

a precise project manager with targets and supposed discipline but none of the motivation that Ole Gunnar Solskjær had, not to mention the gamesmanship and knowledge and personal approach of predecessors.

It's clear that Man Utd need to change ownership lock stock and barrell, first and foremost. Then rebuild behind the scenes and Old Trafford too.

They've just put financial takes over anything and benefited from a massive surge in value too.

      I somehow have 0 Chelsea

When replacing Mbeumo for this GW, I could have gotten Palmer and used the extra funds to get Trent or Trippier, but the I realised I really wanted Porro, Senesi and Pau but it was the wrong GW to get 'em (I was very wrong there about Senesi and Pau, probably Porro too), and definitely not for hits... So I got Bowen instead and parked Guehi (was gonna sell him for -4) at 3rd sub, giving me:

      Dubravka
      Tsimikas Coufal Gabriel
      Salah Son Bowen Gordon Saka
      Haaland Watkins

      Areola Archer Lascelles Guehi

Seems I might have Guehi auto-subbed in after all, if Son + Lascelles + Haaland miss out. Probably not

Is this the best year ever for ultra budget FPL players?

8 keepers who stated at 4.0m have played already. Branthwaite, Taylor, Lascelles, Gusto, Evans are amongst a large group of 4.0 defenders, and we now have 3 starting forwards who began the season at 4.5m (Semenyo, Archer, Oslu) in a position where we often don't get any, returns from 4.5 mids have been few and far between but there are ultra budget players who have started regularly in that positions for their clubs (Sarr, McAtee, Kluivert, Brownhill)

Yeah from what I can remember. You usually get a couple per season like Lundstram, AWB, Dele, Kane but not the number of this year

We get so much money that you only need two or three real budget players to unlock moreorless anyone you want. You shouldn't be messing with 4.5 mids. One 4m gk one 4.5and one 4.5 fw, one 4m defender and you're laughing

Today was supposed to be about Son, not Haaland.

If Son doesn't start most people's benches will be bare.

Would you make a move here or just save.
    Probably need Watkins for 18.
Bench is as bad as it gets but maybe that's no bad thing?

    Dubravka.
    Gabriel, Trippier, Tsimikas.
    Salah, Luiz, Palmer, Son, Martinelli.
    Haaland, Alvarez.
    Areola, Archer, Kabore (ineligible), Luiz**(suspended).
    1ft, 2.4m ITB.

Not sure Watkins is worth the cash from now as cheaper forwards are delivering.

Who would you get for Alvarez except from Watkins?

Solanke has outscored Watkins! Last 6 games or so and Cunha 5 in a row I think.

granted they had Man City and Arsenal at home, where as Bournemouth got to go to Old Trafford.

              Points from last 6 GWs:

              Watkins - 27
              Solanke - 32
              Cunha - 33

Cunha with 5 returns in a row

Not much in it, imo. Still, a chance to differentiate... Or go 3-4-3

    Mroning All,

Did Darwin > Solanke before the price rise/ fall

    Current team: 0FT, 1.5 itb

    Areola
    Saliba Gabriel Trippier
    Saka Adingra Salah Bowen
    Haaland Alvarez Solanke

    subs: Johnstone* Maguire Lamptey* Anderson*

Think I need to get a keeper (in case Areola remained injured) or sell Adingra to someone

    1. Ze_Austin
      • 7 Years
      2 years, 2 months ago

Top of the morning to ya!

I'd say Adingra isn't a fire sale for a hit when you've got flags

It's a new GK for me here if a hit is needed, then FT for a Lamptey replacement (Livramento or Senesi) next GW

Keeping double Arsenal defence? Their stats are still pretty good, tbf

Having sold Alvarez for Darwin for a hit in what is increasingly looking like the most decision ever, I’m increasingly disturbed by recent turn of events, from him being potentially benched and now leading the line against Luton and having the third string goalie next week against Palace.

Not the time to bring him in?

Wouldn't be fair to separate Salah and Haaland. Perhaps Haaland edges it slightly because of less options in the forward slot.

That’s a great list and can’t fault it. Just comparing against total score, Hwang is significantly above Palmer and TAA has a good gap over Saliba and Porro (who is surprisingly low down). Although injured I think Mbeumo should get an honourable mention

It's not a typical FPL season, Kane leaving, games lasting 10% longer has meant fewer clean sheets as predicted, wingbacks are out of fashion by premier league managers in general and a varied title race with several teams which filters down into additional random probability.

      2. _Greg
        • 15 Years
        2 years, 2 months ago

Of course Mbeumo is there if not injured. Price has to be a factor too but I appreciate your points.
