Another small ‘double’ has been announced with the news that Bournemouth and Luton Town will play twice in Gameweek 28.
The Hatters and the Cherries have had their outstanding fixture against one another rearranged for Wednesday 13 March.
The original game in December was abandoned when Luton’s Tom Lockyer suffered a cardiac arrest on the field of play.
TWO DOUBLE GAMEWEEKS FOR LUTON
The announcement means the Hatters now have two Double Gameweeks in the next month or so.
Rob Edwards’ side also play twice in Double Gameweek 25, when they face Manchester United and Liverpool.
The double in Gameweek 28 is far more appealing on paper, as they first travel to struggling Crystal Palace before taking on Bournemouth.
The Hatters do blank in Gameweek 26, while they’ll also blank in Gameweek 29 if they beat Manchester City in the FA Cup fifth round and/or if Nottingham Forest make it past Bristol City and Manchester United in the next two rounds of that competition.
BOURNEMOUTH DILEMMA
It’s a great-looking double for Bournemouth, who face two of last year’s promoted clubs in Gameweek 28. Both matches are at home, too.
The double comes a week after they meet Burnley, the other side to come up from the Championship in 2022/23.
But clashes with Newcastle United and Manchester City are to come first in Gameweeks 25 and 26, while there’s a possible blank in Gameweek 29.
Bournemouth will blank in that round of matches if they beat Leicester City and/or if Wolverhampton Wanderers beat Brighton and Hove Albion in the FA Cup fifth round.
Dominic Solanke (£7.1m), the most sold forward of the current Gameweek, is obvious captain material in Double Gameweek 28 but then could be without a league fixture the following week.
Anyone hoping to navigate their way through the blanks in Gameweeks 26 and 29 without using a Free Hit likely just had their life made that bit more difficult.
