Brennan Johnson looks good for the 3rd Spurs slot for DGW35 and BB38

Agreed butdon’t want a Spurs defensive double up and Werner doesn’t seem worth a transfer.

Which 3 forwards are the hot picks for wc?

          I’m currently selecting:

          Haaland - Pedro - Isak

          Is Jackson worth a shout?

Really enjoyed the FA Cup semi-final, but chalking off that winning goal for an offside that was impossible to call with the naked eye is exactly why I hate VAR. What a moment, and what an end to the game... only to be denied by a system that can change "level" into "offside". It's ruining football. I'll take the emotion, the odd mistake, and talking points, over accuracy, precision, and delays all day long. Bin the VAR!

The only time I have even liked VAR was when Chelsea’s goal in the FA cup final in the last minute against Leicester was chalked off (just because I wanted Leicester to win).

Not a fan now. Mistakes will happen but over the course of a season they should even out so imo no need for VAR as too slow, pedantic and takes the spontaneity from the game.

    4. Boss Hogg
      • 16 Years
      2 years, 2 days ago

Actually, I'd like VAR to be retained but only as an appeal system. Like in tennis or cricket. You could have 1 referral each half per team. And you keep it if your referral is correct.

And for offsides, I think it needs to have a margin of error built in. Like a "zone" around the players. That way, you could still have something like today being called as "level". And goals would only be chalked off if a team appealed and the attacker was clearly offside.

All replays should be a full speed too. No slow motion. No still footage.

      1. Boss Hogg
        • 16 Years
        2 years, 2 days ago

Oh, and it is only the referee on the pitch who makes the call. Referrals could be played back to the on-field ref on the pitchside monitor.

You are probably right about the auto offside tech. And definitely right about people who want to measure everything!

I still think there is a place for an appeals system. But other than that, bin it.

I think people wanted tech to sort out whether the ball crossed the line for a goal, maybe minimise diving and serious foul play, and instead it is used to disallow goals because someones armpit hair is offside. Fantastic, well done

Just WC left. Chasing in both leagues so figure i might as well use this week vs waiting til GW37? Anyone else doing the same, or think more value in waiting for a few more ARS/LIV games (currently have 6 of them!) + potn injuries etc?

If i go for this week, how does the below look? No Liv at all, no Ars attackers, no Watkins seem to me to be the biggest risks...plus i have less than zero trust in Man U defense or N Jackson...but....

    WC35 (+line up)
    Onana (Pickford)
    Porro Gusto Schar (Gabriel Gvardiol)
    Son Palmer Gordon Fernandes (Foden)
    Isak Jackson Haaland
    0.6m spare

He's definitely got a goal in him. Unfortunately, he's already scored it this season, back in GW19.

Bit of a conundrum here . Chasing 39 points on my ML, I don’t have Isak and he does (together with WC and BB). Obviously my chances aren’t great.

Debating doing Isak, Gordon and Johnson/Werner (he doesn’t have any of the three) for -8 this week.

Basically is there any point in not getting Isak ? And just concentrating on players he doesn’t have

Have to concentrate on the good players that will continue to extend the lead. They probably get Gordon on WC at least.

Yeah I’m kinda screwed. What would you do here?

        Petrovic
        Gusto RAN Virgil
        Palmer Son Salah Eze
        Solanke Mateta Darwin

        Neto Havertz White Gabriel

        Figuring Eze/Salah & Darwin -> Gordon, Isak (-4)

And potentially Darwin -> Werner for -8

Is anyone considering Harvey Barnes instead of Gordon as a differential?

At least he didn't sell him, unlike Haaland's last injury that prompted his family to sell him - and he subsequently was out for a few weeks. Makes me think it's a short term injury.
