    Latest draft.

    Henderson
    Quansah Hall Murillo Pau Leif
    Salah Son Gordon Amad 4.5
    Haaland Isak Muniz

-Amad is a punt and i think he should be starting the first 2.
    - Will monitor Quansah and Hall closely

Don’t think so. Some folk are concerned he may be eased in due to his extended break after euros. Barnes is back fit too so they have decent cover.

I’m still backing him for gw1 myself.

He barely played in the Euros thpugh. Rumours are Liverpool could sign him. Rumours!

Probably contains an “if Liverpool bid I can go” clause though.

Wouldn't have thought so mate, they'll have to pay the going rate like anyone else. Liverpool will struggle this season I feel adjusting

Cheers mate. Thanks for the input.
I'm inclined to not touching my defence because they rotate very well. If i downgrade Gordon> 6.5 I get a million in the bank. All my defenders are 4.5. So the max I can get is a Porro(5.5). Not keen on that.

Jota and Quansah both unlikely starters.

Gakpo and Nunez will both be back. I don't get this belief that Euro / Copa players won't be playing GW1 ; the clubs pay them an awful lot of money to turn up.

How's she looking: - Henderson and Porro can be Raya and Anderson, but keep coming back to the below:

    Henderson
    Gvardiol - Trent - Porro
    Eze - Gordon - Salah - Nkunku - Son
    Havertz - Isak

    Valdim - Konsa - Barco - Stewart

Arteta does seem desperate to get Jesus going. Worried for Havertz, he might get the Gabriel treatment from early last season.

Jota is better than all of them and only the manager wanted Ronaldo to start

2 goals in 6 games (playing the likes of Panama and Bolivia ffs) is "excellent" for a £75m striker?

                  2 years, 29 days ago

I suspect you watched as much Copa as Liverpool. And yeah he’s a 75m striker so you play him. I love Jota but he was bought as back up. Slot may feel differently but Nunez aside he’s still likely behind Gakpo and Diaz.

                  1. Bushwhacker

So based on that logic, Jota should start over Gakpo because he was bought for more. Brilliant.

If players were judged on their national team performances, McTominay would be going for £100m, not 20-odd.

Depends if you build in the necessity price for Jota. Simple fact is Jota is behind Nunez/Gakpo for the centre role, behind Gakpo/Diaz on the left. And he happens to be a fantastic sub who can play either role.

    - 12 goals in the last 5 seasons (10 of which came in a 3-month spell 3 years ago)
    - Playing for a new club who came 13th last season, after scoring 3 more goals than Luton, who have just lost their best player
    - Missed an average of 26 games per season (132 total)
    - No penalties or set-pieces

TBH I think he will be that, buts its a massive ask with his injury record. If he stays injury free, he is nailed and the new talisman for that team. Perfect club for him to stand out, then get a big move. He is 24. Great player to watch.

Thoughts on just having 1 striker despite the risk? (4-5-1 formation, with a decent defender as sub).
As somebody who only owns Isak and can't afford Haaland, I don't see any appeal in the forwards.
    - Havertz might play in midfield behind Jesus at times.
    - I prefer to find 0.5m more for a 6.5m midfielder rather than Rodrigo Muniz

    1. have you seen cyan
      • 7 Years

So many good strikers. Haven't even seriously considered 2 up front let alone 1. Haaland and Isak are pretty nailed. That said, maybe you don't have Haaland, but if you only have 1 striker you should. Isak is maybe injured, I heard his arm fell off earlier

      1. adstomko
        • 10 Years

Isak is fine apparently. I just don't see many options below 8m. The midfield is full of decent options at 5m-7.5m

can work, but depends on strategy/approach/patience/price points

I have Jota, who is basically a forward now.
As long as Isak stays fit, I don't see any harm as long as you have a decent sub.

Isak is a must and if Haaland is fit I prefer him over Salah.4-5-1 is viable only as long TAA performs well. I am considering 3-5-3 with Muniz or 3-4-3 with Haaland, Isak and Watkins.

I suppose a 4-5-1 is risky if Watkins starts scoring, particularly from GW3

I'm here trying to pick three from Watkins, Isak, Havertz, Wood and Muniz

While aware that I'll try to squeeze Mateta in after the Olympics

And wondering when to hop on Solanke, Cunha or Brentford's CF for fixture swings

All while ignoring the 15m golden-booted robot

I think Wood will be replaced by Awoniyi once he's back up to speed.
Havertz's positioning short-term puts me off. Can see him going down in price after GW2.

I listed ten possible options for three slots

Maybe a 3-5-2 to have the 7th attacker in midfield instead of 3-4-3. But 4-5-1 usually works in zombie teams or with hindsight

Like, half/whole season kind of hindsight. Compare the big-at-the-back team you'd have built at the beginning of last season to the defenders who eventually amassed the points

Hopping on and off that 7th attacker usually is more predictable for runs of form, imo

Why aren’t we looking at Quansah for 4.5m for the first few games if WCing around gw6?

Mario has left. Konate hasn’t started a preseason game yet. Cheapest way into that pool defence

"Not started a preseason game yet" rarely really means a regular will be benched for the first 5 GWs

Maybe benched for GW1 at best

And there are still two weeks before the season starts, with Konate expected to feature:

"Konate, in particular, will have plenty to prove with Jarell Quansah having had the opportunity to impress his new coach since the squad first reported for pre-season training."

My read of that quote is that he's been the only one with the chance to impress the coach. Not an indication of being a preference yet, just the only one Slot has seen. And now Slot's got two weeks to see Konate

Thanks. If I was going to downgrade it would probably be Solanke > Muniz. Would give me £1.5m to upgrade Winks to Rogers or CHO and one of my £4m defenders to Konsa.

Thanks. And it was a close call but gut feel was stick with Palmer for the start

I certainly won't start with this team, since it has 1 million itb. However, this looks pretty interesting to me:

    4.5 / 4.0
    TAA, Gvardiol, Muñoz, VdV(?), Barco
    Saka, Eze, Nkunku, ESR, CHO
    Isak, Haaland, Muniz

Looks good - but I think definitely use the £1m to upgrade one of ESR or CHO, and perhaps downgrade one of those to upgrade the other further (e.g. Gordon, Bowen or Mbeumo)

    3. Big Mike
      • 4 Years
      2 years, 29 days ago

If you have 1m itb then I'd suggest having a 5m goalkeeper + his back up, like Pickford and Virginia for example. Plus I would downgrade VVD to a 4.5 defender who you can leave on the bench, as you already have Liverpool defense covered. Then you can upgrade midfieold or defense.

    Chelsea 4.5M keeper (Iversen)
    Trent Porro Mykolenko (Davis, Faes)
