How is this looking please? Any changes you’d suggest?

    Henderson
    Gvardiol Munoz Mykolenko Barco
    Salah Jota Eze
    Haaland Isak J.Pedro

    Turner Nkunku Castagne Rogers

I'm not convinced Turner is the best 4.0 GKer. His high ownership could result in a price fall as he won't get a look in to start any games.

Pedro and Rogers might be a bit of a risk. I'm not sure Pedro will be fit to start the season and Rogers has plenty of competition for a starting spot.

Great advice on Turner. I forget about this every year. I follow the crowds on the 4.0 keeper and then regret it! Thanks!

Rogers and Pedro enable the rest of the team. Any thoughts on a pairing that would be better to replace them? Wondering whether I move to a 4.5 mid/fwd and strengthen the other position…

I might swap Gvardiol to Porro and upgrade Pedro to Wood.

I’m actually thinking with your advice that I could go:
            Gvardiol, Rogers and J.Pedro
            to
            Maatsen, ESR and Wood

Do we think that is better?

Unless I'm missing something, Joao Pedro to Chris Wood is a massive downgrade for me. As is Gvardiol to Maatsen

Is it worth even having him if you’re dropping him for 4m defender with a tough game?

If you don’t trust Chelsea there’s so many options at 6.5 - could move to a Garnacho/MGW

    Sels
    Mykolenko - Konsa - Dalot
    Jota - Son - Eze - Saka
    Haaland - Isak - Wood
(Subs: Turner - ESR - Faes - THB)

I’m considering a week 1 Bench Boost followed by a week 2 wild card.

Anyone got any BB drafts they’d like to share?

    Areola Flekken
    Porro Munoz Myko Burn Murillo
    Salah Eze Kudus ESR Semenyo
    Haaland Isak Wood

I'm going with the Pele-era Brazil motto: "score however many you can, we'll score however many we want". Think I'm pretty set on this unless someone can suggest a better five-spot of budget defenders:

    Areola | Fab
    Andersen | Mykolenko | Konsa | Faes | H-B
Salah | Palmer | Eze | ESR | Bobb (at least if he starts the CS)
    Haaland | Wood | Isak

There's no question they restrict your squad and I don't see a world where having both is optimal use of funds. As I saw someone say elsewhere: they are both comfort blankets. I think having them when they have a good fixture run and selling when they don't will be the key.

I wonder why Gvardiol's current ownership (32.8%) is so much higher than Robertson's (5.8%) when the latter seems poised to score more points in the first 6 GW? Any ideas?

More attacking returns in a handful of games as a marauding LB than Robertson managed all season? And more points overall than Robbo got in 22/3 also.

In the first 20 gameweeks, there are probably just 2 I would want to captain Salah ahead of Haaland. For that reason alone, surely it’s hard to justify having Salah? Jota is the perfect solution here too. 90% sure he will start.

    1. MJF
      • 7 Years
      1 year, 6 months ago

Fair point on paper but on grass Salah might hit the ground running at Ipswich and get 20 points!

I agree though, I didn't have loads of weeks when I looked where Salah was my first choice cap.

    2. The Mentaculus
      • 4 Years
      1 year, 6 months ago

I'm not looking that far ahead (might have neither by that stage) but my reasoning is similar - wouldn't captain Salah over Haaland in the first 4 so going without Mo. GW5 is the only one I'm unsure about captaincy but will probably just go a bit punty (at least we'll have a better idea of form by then, if eg. Man Utd are a shambles I can go with Eze)

    3. Sir Michael Taker
      • 11 Years
      1 year, 6 months ago

This was my issue too. I don't think Haaland is worth 15m because I don't think he'll match his season 1 numbers, I think that'll prove to be an outlier. There was no justification from last season (on form) to increase Haaland's price at all but they did it to make the game more interesting because of the ownership. But something about owning Salah doesn't excite me either and he's the alternative, going without both isn't really an option. The fixtures are there yes but its a new manager/system and he's getting old to be frank. He'll get injured at some point. There could be cheaper ways into Liverpool too although I wouldn't be hanging my hat on Jota for long because his minutes historically tell you he's not a season long keeper.

      1. Sir Michael Taker
        • 11 Years

        * should say going without either isn't an option. It might emerge as one though, plenty of useful 10m ish players.

Don't know when this quote is from. But would suggest solanke will start gw1

    Ange Postecoglou:

"I have always felt that if you get the recruitment right then whoever it is hits the ground running. We signed Micky van de Ven three days before the first game last year, against Brentford, and we threw him straight in. He literally hit the ground running.
We are trying to identify players who fit into our style of football. There will be a bit of adjustment but hopefully they will already have those qualities to come into the group and contribute straight away. That is my expectation when we sign someone - they will be ready to contribute from the moment they arrive."

Not for me. Bournemouth only got 3 pens last season anyway and I think none the season before and he missed one of them so hardly as if it was a big contributor to his points. The key for me is he's moving from a side who scored 20 goals less than Spurs last season, slightly oversimplified but they will create so many more chances for him than Bournemouth did and I don't think he's a bad finisher.

Its a good point about the options in midfield at that price actually vs the options in attack. Although a 5.5 striker could emerge from one of the promoted sides or Pedro, unlikely but they could. If they don't you could be quite stuck on moving off Muniz in one move

I'm not sure yet either tbh. Maybe leaning ESR when looking at combos as I think I still want Havertz (even if pushed into midfield at times by the resurrection), and can bench ESR for Bobb GW1 if in any doubt about him being eased in

Cracking team, the fixtures are ideal for the 5.5 midfielders so I wouldn’t worry about that.

Not fully decided yet but with that setup it’s 4.0 4.0 4.5 4.0 which I don’t mind as I never get bench points but I am considering Robinson Mylolenko over Munoz 4.0

Currently have Mbeumo + Andreas. Should I reconsider for Eze or ESR or go with my gut?

Also, do you prefer any of Quansah/Murillo/Myolenko over VDV/Guehi/Konsa?

Mbeumo over Eze for sure but ESR plays further forward than Andreas….

I don’t like any of those defenders but Mykolenko would be my choice

I have the same front line as you but a poor defence in comparison. I have Mbeumo and MGW and you have Raya, Porro, Gvardiol and Muñoz.

MGW is a baller but CHO better value as same PPM and he’s looked good pre season. I’ve learnt the hard way re Arsenal defensive cover and was on Gvardiol early last season and he won me a lot of money

It'll be amusing if none of Rogers, Barco and Jota start GW1.

Still changing my mind all the time

What do people think? Too much rotation risk even with ok bench?

    1mil ITB

    Pope / fodder
Munoz gvardiol tsimikas / Robinson / Johnson
    Salah Jota bobb Murphy/ ESR

I quite like this actually. Definitely a risk of being forced into some early moves if e.g. Newcastle buy Madueke/Kulu, if Darwin is given a chance as the 9... But looks good for now and there's flexibility there to take money from Jota & upgrade one of the cheaper mids in a couple weeks

Hi gents, a question to anyone experienced with FPL draft, one of our players who joined the draft league can't make the date and time for the picking phase, s they have decided to go on holiday, is there anyway they can pick an order of players they want sort of like an auto pick? If they can't and they don't attend the pick phase, what happens?

      Hi,

I haven’t done it this year but I am sure last year you could pick your order ahead of time.

Anyone that missed their pick gets the most expensive player available that fits their squad (I think)
