THE STARTING SEVEN

GOALKEEPER

In between the sticks I have opted for Crewe Alexandra’s number one, Filip Marschall (G). Currently backed by just 1.1% of managers, he seems a great differential option. Not only are they doubling, but they go into the fixture full of confidence after four consecutive wins and two consecutive clean sheets. First up they face Accrington Stanley, one of the worst sides in the division. Although the Wombles will prove more of a threat, I expect at least one clean sheet.

DEFENDERS

For my first defensive pick in Gameweek 25, I’m sticking with the form of Crewe’s Mickey Demetriou (D). The Fantasy EFL points leader has amassed 208 points this season, including a recent 13-point haul against Morecambe. With two favourable fixtures on the horizon, Demetriou is primed for clean sheets and attacking returns. Although going against him with high ownership (17.6%) could be a great option, it’s too much of a risk at this stage of the season.

Alongside him I have opted for Lincoln City’s Paudie O’Connor (D). The Imps defender proved to be an incredibly valuable asset in Gameweek 24, where he provided his backers an impressive 17-point haul. This was courtesy of a clean sheet (+5), three tackles (+1), but unbelievably 27 clearances (+9). The Imps host consecutive home ties in the upcoming Double Gameweek, against Peterborough United and Blackpool.

Charlton Athletic’s Macaulay Gillesphey (D) completes the defence. The Addicks centre-back has been hugely crucial to their success this season and has now racked up an impressive 163 points in Fantasy EFL. His side approach this game off the back of an impressive display away to Bolton Wanderers, and based on the FDR, you would anticipate them to go on and make it consecutive wins. They have two home matches in store against Shrewsbury Town and Bristol Rovers. If he can match his Gameweek 22 performance, which saw him return 16 points, then his potential across two ties could be enormous. Furthermore, with ownership standing at just 2.8% he seems a great differential, opposed to the more obvious and popular defensive assets.

MIDFIELDERS

Millwall’s Casper De Norre (M) is the first of the midfield assets for me this week. He managed an excellent 20 points across Double Gameweek 24, thanks to his incredible interception rate, managing five interceptions (+10) in his last two appearances. His ownership stands at 4.4%, and with a struggling Luton Town side up first followed by Portsmouth away. This seems a great chance for the Belgian to extend his interceptions even further and potentially continue to pose a threat in front of goal.

If this is not enough, I have doubled up on the Millwall assets, with George Saville (M) also selected for the Lions’ Double Gameweek! Saville also impressed in Gameweek 24, returning 17 points for his Fantasy EFL backers. This may be a bold move to go all out on midfielders that return interception points, as opposed to attacking points, however it is a risk I am willing to take considering their recent displays, which have been excellent. Furthermore, his ownership stands at just 1.3%, which makes him the perfect differential.

FORWARD

Leading the line I have gone with Notts County’s Allassana Jatta (F). He faces two consecutive home ties against Bromley, followed by Crawley Town. The FDR would suggest that he has an incredible chance of extending his 12 goals (+60) and five assists (+15) in the 20 appearances he has made so far. The forward has averaged 6.3 points per game, which is very appealing for a Double Gameweek, of course implying a double-digits haul could be on the cards!

CLUB PICKS

The club picks partially align with my player selections this week with Notts County and Wycombe Wanderers the two sides I have backed.

Notts County face Bromley and Crawley Town, which seem like two favourable fixtures for a Double Gameweek, especially with The Magpies going into the fixtures off of two consecutive wins and clean sheets.

Wycombe Wanderers also have two consecutive home ties, with Northampton Town up first followed by Barnsley. They enter the Double Gameweek off the back of a 1-2 win away at Mansfield Town, so will be full of confidence under interim manager Sam Grace.

A maximum of 18 points are up for grabs for both sides if they can win, keep a clean sheet and score 2+ goals in both their ties, certainly doable considering the clubs’ current form.
