Past performance is no guarantee of future results, as they say in every financial service advert, but try telling that to Fantasy managers – especially ones trying to get their heads around a brand new game like Roshn Saudi League (RSL) Fantasy, also known as Saudi Pro League Fantasy.

You can dedicate hours to poring through numbers in the app but, to save the effort, we’ve created a quick summary of 2024/25’s top-scoring players.

OVERVIEW

Saudi Pro League Fantasy: Top picks from 2024/25

GOALKEEPERS + DEFENDERS

Al Qadsiah kept the most clean sheets last time (14), with Koen Casteels (5.5m) being the highest-scoring goalkeeper with 184 points. Nacho Fernandes (5.5m) and Mohammed Al Shamat (5.5m) were amongst the best defenders, grabbing 205 and 195 respectively.

Despite having fewer overall points, the latter notably pushed forward more, bringing in double-digit hauls on six occasions.

Al Ahli’s Roger Ibanez (6.0m) topped the defensive tables with a 224 total, just ahead of Al Shabab’s Wesley Hoedt (6.0m) on 205. Also boasting strong campaigns were Al Hilal pair Renan Lodi (5.5m, 189) and Kalidou Koulibaly (6.0m, 177).

Between the sticks, there were respectable hauls for Al Riyadh’s Milan Borjan (4.5m, 173), Al Ettifaq stopper Marek Rodek (5.0m, 168) and Al Fayha’s Orlando Mosquera (5.0m, 166).

Al Nassr’s Bento (5.5m) racked up 163 points and Edouard Mendy of Al Ahli (5.5m) delivered 160.

MIDFIELDERS

Meanwhile, Salem Al Dawsari (13.0m) had a stunning season. The Al Hilal attacker was RSL Fantasy’s overall top-scoring player, thanks to 15 goals, 19 assists and 286 points. He’s expected to continue being such a key option.

Indeed, three of the top ten midfielders belonged to Al Hilal, with Sergej Savic (10.0m, 241) and Malcom (9.5m, 211) creating a dilemma.

Over at Al Nassr, previous forward Sadio Mane (10.0m) has been reclassified. Fresh from a 231-point season, the former Liverpool star could become essential. A similar switch has happened to Julian Quinones (9.5m, 219).

More reasonably priced is the latter’s Al Qadsiah colleague Musab Al Juwayr (7.5m), who achieved 220 points.

A couple of familiar Premier League names are up next. Georginio Wijnaldum (7.5m) accumulated a tally of 205, as Riyad Mahrez (10.0m, 204) benefited greatly from set-pieces.

Then there’s Myziane Maolida (7.0m), managing to weigh in with 15 goals and 212 points for an Al Kholood that had only just been promoted. Mid-table Al Fateh’s well-priced pairing of Mourad Batna (7.5m) and Sofiane Bendebka (7.0m) both offered a decent return with 199 and 191 points.

Whilst from champions Al Ittihad, Steven Bergwijn (9.5m, 176) did well despite injury limiting his game time. Teammate Houssem Aouar (8.0m) reached 178 points, but N’Golo Kante (7.5m, 196) beat them both.

FORWARDS

Due to positional changes, 2025/26 forward options look a bit more limited, although the big international names are still there. Al Nassr’s Cristiano Ronaldo (14.0m) got 266 points, Ivan Toney (10.5m) totalled 246 for Al Ahli, and Karim Benzema (11.0m) contributed 245 over at Al Ittihad.

Abderrazzaq Hamdallah (9.0m) was a bit further back with 204, still beating Al Hilal duo Aleksandar Mitrovic (10.0m, 188) and Marcos Leonardo (7.0m, 157).

Should Mitrovic depart, there’ll only be nine remaining forwards who exceeded 100 points. Combined with the glut of midfield options available, a 3-5-2 formation is likely to be this year’s dominant strategy among Fantasy managers.
