West Ham v Chelsea team news: Palmer injured in warm-up

Gameweek 2 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) gets underway on Friday, with West Ham United and Chelsea both looking to secure their first wins of the 2025/26 season.

Kick-off at the London Stadium is at 20:00 BST.

Chelsea make three changes from their clash with Crystal Palace last Sunday.

Malo Gusto and the fit-again Tosin Adarabioyo come in for Reece James and Josh Acheampong at the back.

Further forward, Liam Delap starts alongside Joao Pedro, with Jamie Gittens dropping to the bench.

West Ham boss Graham Potter makes just one alteration from the side that lost 3-0 at Sunderland, as Tomas Soucek is preferred to Guido Rodriguez in midfield.

The main Fantasy interest is in the visitors.

Joao Pedro is in more than half of FPL squads, while Robert Sanchez and Marc Cucurella‘s ownership is over 20%.

*UPDATE: Cole Palmer is out of tonight’s match due to an injury suffered in the warm-up. Estevao comes in for the Chelsea midfielder.

      Don't love it for a hit and before most of those have even played
      Tark > Esteve for sure
      Palmer > Rogers
      Watkins < Haaland but it's not clear cut, Watkins has outscored Haaland in the last two seasons, and every chance could brace this week while Erling blanks imo
      I would rather way on big moves like that, lots could change, particularly with the transfer window and GW2 games

      "Cole in the last 4-5 days, he was not 100%. Today he try in the warmup, but he felt something, so we prefer don't take any risk to get worse. And we see now in the next hours if it's something important or not"

        Is it a good idea to do Palmer to Cunha and Watkins to Haaland tonight to avoid being priced out? I could always play FH in GW3 if Watkins hauls this week to cancel out the transfers.

                    No its not. It is the best predictor of future points.

                    Who were the players with the highest Xgi over the years ? - Salah, Haaland, Palmer, Saka, Wissa, mBeumo etc etc. Xgi in general is very close to FPL points with a few players able to finish slightly better (Wood, Son)

                    I thought Pedro would have put up 1.5 xGI at least tonight - Haaland last week at 2 Xgi.

                      Pedro won’t haul like that much if he plays in that role he started the game in I agree but if he plays 60 mins at 10 and then the final 30 mins up front, for 7.5 it would be not worth going without him

                        I agree its unlikely he will haul again like that.

                        but i think you need to view him (and assests differently ) than that. His value at 7.5 mil could be terrible if someone emerges in the 5.5 -6.5 group. We dont know yet. I cant see Pedro (who will rotate at times, and play deep at times) match someone like Strand-larsen who has pens. Also forwards in general are poor value compared to mids. That 7.5 million for Pedro could also be 3 million deadspace that could be used in midfield to turn a deadspot into e.g Gordon at Newcastle with all extra ways to get points.

                        Lets come back to this in week 8 and check! But i cant see him being a tailsman, yet. He will for sure get points but cant (unless Chelsea go nuclear attacking and then it will be Pedro + Palmer + Another) who would be viable.

                        JSL could be a template pick by simple ticking along as he will simple have many ways to get Wolves points. Chelsea will share way more.

                      Everything at this stage is trying to identify who is the template ( or who will be the template). Any moves people make away from this is an advantage.

                      The evidence so far is still on the side that Pedro will not be in the best 11 players one could pick by the time we get 10 - 20 weeks of data.

                        I’m going to wait and see about Palmer’s injury but if he’s out, I’m considering downgrading him and upgrading Guiu to Wood. Either that or Esteve to Dorgu.
