FANTASY EFL GAMEWEEK 4 SCOUT NOTES: CHAMPIONSHIP STANDOUTS

Coventry City’s seventh heaven

Fantasy EFL Gameweek 4: Scout Notes + Scout Picks review 3

The game that caught all eyes on the weekend wasn’t a bad result for Frank Lampard’s side, as they defeated QPR 7-1 (H).

The Sky Blues had a huge win, with Haji Wright (F), Brandon Thomas-Asante (F), and Jack Rudoni (M) all scoring twice by halftime.

Victor Torp (M) added two more in the second half, making it 7-0. Despite only having a little over 1.3 expected goals (xG), they managed 19 shots!

QPR’s Richard Kone (F) scored a late consolation goal, but the damage was already done.

Potters beat the Saints

Stoke City’s surprising start to the season continues, with Mark Robins’ side sitting atop the table after an impressive 2-1 away win at Southampton.

Lewis Baker (M) and Sorba Thomas (M) were instrumental, scoring 13 and 10 points apiece.

Despite a red card for Divin Mubama (F) and only 35% possession, the team held strong. Even more remarkably, Viktor Johansson (G) picked up a rare assist for the second.

The Saints have recorded just one win in three.

Sheffield Wednesday surprise Wrexham

In a much-needed morale boost, the Owls fought back from a two-goal deficit to secure their first points of the season. After a continued rocky start off the field, the team showed resilience on it, battling back for a 2-2 draw.

Kieffer Moore (F) was the initial threat, scoring a first-half brace for an impressive 14 points for the hosts.

However, the Owls’ comeback was led by Barry Bannan (M), who also picked up 14 points, and Bailey Cadamarteri (F), who netted the late equaliser.

The point lifts the Owls off the bottom of the table, leaving their rivals, Sheffield United, in last place.

LEAGUE ONE STANDOUTS

Fantasy EFL Double Gameweek 3: Scout Picks 2

In a blockbuster match, Cardiff City beat Luton Town 1-0 thanks to a wonderful goal from Chris Willock (M).

Nathan Trott (G) was the standout player for the Bluebirds, making seven saves and keeping his fourth clean sheet of the season. He earned a total of 32 points and helped his team remain unbeaten.

Huddersfield Town ended Stevenage’s unbeaten run, courtesy of Alfie May’s (F) strike. The Terriers had 61% possession, taking 12 shots, and have now won four of five games.

Oliver Norwood (M) had a standout performance in midfield once again for Stockport County. After going down 1-0 to Burton Albion, he helped turn the game around with a stunning free-kick, which was one of two quick goals alongside Jack Diamond’s (D) strike.

Norwood’s efforts earned him nine points. He now has three goal contributions in five games, along with eight interceptions.

Speaking of standouts, Regan Hendry (M) helped Mansfield Town to three wins in a row in a 4-1 win over Leyton Orient (H), scoring a brace and providing three interceptions (+6) to haul for 23 points.

LEAGUE TWO TOP SCORERS

MK Dons’ Jack Sanders (D) was in top form during a 2-1 away win at Newport County, scoring 10 points. Mr. Consistent assisted the opening goal and won a penalty, which Nathaniel Mendez-Laing (F) converted. Sanders remains the EFL’s highest scorer with 58 points.

Also making an impact, Callum Paterson (F) scored nine points, marking his fifth goal contribution in as many games.

Gillingham made it 17 unbeaten with a 1-0 win over Crewe Alexandra (H), ending the Railwaymen’s perfect start. Sam Gale (M) struck late in the 89th minute, as Gareth Ainsworth’s reign keeps up in top form.

Matthew Dennis (F) continues to be a key player for Notts County, scoring a brace in their 2-2 draw against Bromley. This performance marks his sixth goal contribution in five games for the Magpies.

Omari Patrick (F) is also in a purple patch for Tranmere Rovers, providing two goal contributions and 12 points in their 2-0 away win over Crawley Town, who have been in horrendous form. He has five goal returns in four.

FANTASY EFL GAMEWEEK 4 SCOUT NOTES: HOW DID THE SCOUT PICKS DO?

From our nine selections, we saw returns from seven players.

Ryan Allsop (G) and Birmingham City both secured seven points with a clean sheet and a 1-0 win against Oxford United.

However, the most-selected forward, Jay Stansfield (F), blanked.

As for the others, Sanders came through with a solid 10 points. Meanwhile, James Bolton earned six points in Fleetwood’s 1-1 draw against Oldham, making 12 clearances and two tackles.

Unfortunately, Will Wright (D) had another rough outing for Swindon Town. Despite being on set pieces, he blanked in the Robins’ 2-1 win over Shrewsbury Town.

The midfield, however, was solid, contributing a total of 14 points. Isaac Price (M) stood out with an assist and two key passes, earning six points in his team’s 1-1 draw against Portsmouth.

Just as we’d hoped, Norwood came through with a great performance, as did Stockport with their 2-1 win.

Overall, we finished with a score of 66 points, significantly higher than the average of 47. That’s a definite green arrow.
