The Fantasy EFL 2025/26 campaign is well and truly underway. Following an exciting week of Carabao Cup fixtures, this weekend we turn to Gameweek 5.
It is a single Gameweek for all 72 sides and we are treated to some top match-ups from every division.
There have been some incredible player performances in recent weeks, including multiple 20-point showings in Gameweek 4. The sky is the limit for Fantasy EFL hauls, making your captaincy selection one of the most crucial parts of any Gameweek.
We sent out a captaincy poll asking Fantasy EFL managers who they are planning on selecting this Gameweek. To help you decide if you are still unsure, here is a run-through of the results.
As always, a big thank you to everyone who voted via our X page.
Fantasy EFL Gameweek 5 Captaincy Poll: Top selection

MK Dons stalwart Jack Sanders (D) leads with 20.8% of the vote. The 26-year-old has taken Fantasy EFL by storm this season, boasting 58 Fantasy points through five appearances.
He dominates in clearances, registering an EFL-high 86 already. His defensive activity, plus the Dons’ strengthened clean sheet record, has earned him an ownership of 23.8%.
He faces Walsall (H) this Gameweek, who have scored just five goals in five games to start the season.
The Dons have kept clean sheets in both of their home games so far, making Sanders the perfect captaincy selection for this bout.
Second-best option
Scott Twine’s (M) outstanding season start has turned heads and he picks up 12.5% of the votes.
This should come as no surprise as the attacking midfielder averages 13 Fantasy points across his three fixtures so far. He has been directly involved in four of Bristol City’s five goals and shows no signs of slowing.
These dazzling displays are expected to continue as he matches up against Hull City (H) next. The Tigers have conceded five goals in three games.
The 8% club
Rubin Colwill (D) earns 8% of the vote as he remains highly involved in the Cardiff City attack. He averages 6.2 Fantasy points and has strong underlying numbers with 10 key passes and six shots on target already.
The Welshman has scored twice this season and his impressive creative numbers should lead to assists very soon.
Plymouth Argyle (H) is a great matchup as the Pilgrims have conceded nine goals in five games. They have also lost both away fixtures this season.
Victor Torp (M) joins Colwill with 8% of the votes himself. The Coventry City midfielder is coming off a remarkable 16-point haul where he scored his second and third goals of the season.
His mere 2.7% selection rate makes him a particularly exciting differential captain this week. He faces Oxford United (A), who have lost all three of their games this season.
Another dominant display is certainly on the cards.
Finn Azaz (M) is equally popular with 8% of the votes. He has managed a goal (+6), assist (+3) and two interceptions (+4) in 94 minutes this season.
Now seemingly fully recovered from injury, he is an extremely attractive Fantasy option. This will likely be the only point in the season where is selected by just 0.6% of managers, as his exceptional form is expected to continue.
His Gameweek 4 opponents are Sheffield United (H), who have been awful lately. They sit at the bottom of the table with three losses in three and six goals conceded in that span.
