LEWIS SAID…

Goalkeepers

I’m expecting clean sheets for Nathan Trott (G), Matt Young (G) and Josh Keeley (G) this Gameweek – Trott is yet to concede for Cardiff in four matches.

Defenders

Jack Sanders (D) and Adebola Oluwu (D) both have excellent fixtures and are averaging huge scores at present – Sanders remains the highest-scorer. Although he’s yet to haul as hoped, I may put faith in Mickey Demetriou (D), with a good home fixture this week.

Midfielders

Scott Twine (M) has been Bristol City’s creative asset, and his threat from set-pieces is eye-catching. The same goes for Rubin Colwill (M), who I expect could be on for a haul. Sorba Thomas (M) has three double-digit scores in three and is one to consider ahead of WBA (H).

Forwards

Josh March (F) has six goal contributions in five, and with a nice home fixture, he’s on my watchlist. Callum Paterson (F) has proven to be MK Dons’ main threat; I’m expecting him to continue his good form. Finally, Omari Patrick (F) has flown under the radar for Tranmere Rovers, owned by less than 1.5%, despite having five goal contributions in four.

Gameweek 5 Scout Squad: Club picks

Similar to previous weeks, I’m not worrying long-term about selecting clubs early on. Cardiff, Stoke and Salford feel nailed on for wins, while Ipswich could come into my thinking, although their start hasn’t convinced me yet.

FPLREACTIONS SAID…

Goalkeepers

Four clean sheets on the bounce make Cardiff’s Nathan Trott (G) an excellent option at home to a poor Plymouth side this week. Ipswich’s Alex Palmer (G) and Chesterfield’s Zac Hemming (G) also have a good chance of keeping clean sheets.

Defenders

Salford’s home match against a Cheltenham side who have failed to score in two of their last three screams clean sheet potential to me. Because of that, Adebola Olowu (D) could have potential. The last time Ipswich’s Leif Davis (D) was in the Championship he produced double-digits for assists. I expect him to have clean sheet and attacking potential against Derby. Chesterfield’s Chey Dunkley (D) is another great pick against a poor Crawley side.

Midfielders

It’s very difficult to get Coventry’s recent thrashing of QPR out of my head, and Jack Rudoni (M) was instrumental in that. Ipswich have shown little attacking quality, but it’s only a matter of time before they explode with winning and scoring form in my opinion. If that is the case, I think Sammie Szmodics (M) has haul potential. Hull look like a good team to target with attacking players, so I’m also opting for Scott Twine (M), who has been exceptional so far this season.

Forwards

A home fixture for Crewe means Josh Marsh (F) is once again an excellent option. Not many forwards have started the season as good as him, so I think he could do well. When Cardiff are playing at home, Yousef Salech (F) should be a shoo-in among the forward picks. Bromley also have potential this week and their main man is of course Michael Cheek (F).

Gameweek 5 Scout Squad: Club picks

Home matches for Ipswich and Cardiff make them prime targets for team picks this week. Not only could they win and keep clean sheets, but they also have the potential to score goals. Bristol City are another good pick up against a poor Hull City side. Chesterfield should also sweep an out-of-sorts Crawley aside.

DANNY G SAID…

Goalkeepers

Alex Palmer (G) should get his first clean sheet this week as he plays a derby side at home who are struggling. Matt Young (G) has a great home fixture against a poor Cheltenham side, who sit bottom of the table. Zach Hemming’s (G) fixture also makes me want to go there as they play Crawley, who have only managed one goal away from home so far.

Defenders

Chey Dunkley (D) is my first name on the team sheet this week, coming off the back of a goal last week, he’s been a real decent asset so far this season. Adebola Oluwu (D) has managed 44 points so far this season with two goals as well, I expect him to return again this week. My last pick is Jack Sanders (D), who is currently the leading points defender. His clearances numbers have been crazy so far and I feel he can continue to rack them up this week.

Midfielders

Scott Twine (M) has been in frightening form with three goals and one assist from 3 games; he’s a solid option. Jack Rudoni (M) looks like he has found his form with a 22-pointer last Gameweek, he plays an Oxford side who have lost all three games so far. Lastly, Ollie O’Neil (M) has four returns in his last five and has looked very promising for an Orient side who have a great fixture at home this week.

Forwards

Michael Cheek (F) should be considered this week with a nice fixture against Harrogate at home, last season’s top scorer did notch twice against them last season. Josh March (F) has looked dangerous this season with five assists and a goal in as many games, so he’s in with a shout. Finally, Callum Paterson’s (F) has been in fine form, scoring three times and assisting twice in five games.

Gameweek 5 Scout Squad: Club picks

Chesterfield and Crewe are the standout options for me this week, as they both have nice home fixtures and currently sit first and second in League Two and have started very well. I think Salford will be too strong at home for Cheltenham who have yet to pick up a point. Coventry  come off the back of a 7-1 thrashing, and are up against a struggling Oxford, who are also yet to get a point in the board.

DAN DAVE SAID…

Goalkeepers

Ipswich haven’t had the best of starts in the Championship but they have a nice home fixture against Derby to get back on track. Alex Palmer (G) is therefore considered. So far, Rotherham haven’t been great in terms of attack, so I believe Thimothee Lo-Tutala (G) could be in with a good chance of a shutout. Salford take on a poor attack in Cheltenham this week, who have only managed 1 goal in their first 5 games. Matt Young (G) also has great potential.

Defenders

Jack Sanders (D) has made 86 clearances for the season. Coupled with the home fixture for MK Dons, he’s a no brainer this week. I really like Chesterfield’s fixture against Crawley this week, and Chey Dunkley (D) is a route to points at both ends. Finally, the Cheltenham attack isn’t great, and combined in Adebola Oluwo’s (D) aerial threat, he is a must pick this week!

Midfielders

Scott Twine (M) has been in great form this season and takes on a Hull City side who have conceded five goals in their last two league matches. Cardiff look a much better side at home so I am backing them to turn up against a poor Plymouth side; Rubin Colwill (M) is in. My final midfielder is Ollie O’Neill (M) who has been consistently returning for Leyton Orient this season. He has multiple routes to points with a strong fixture ahead.

Forwards

Wrexham have given up 14 big chances in all competitions this season, and I expect Mihailo Ivanovic (F) to profit from this. The Bromley fixture against Harrogate is decent this week, and Michael Cheek (F) is their main man when it comes to scoring. I also expect Josh March (F) to be back amongst the goals for Crewe.

Gameweek 5 Scout Squad: Club picks

Chesterfield, Ipswich Town, Cardiff City, and Doncaster all have strong prospects for a win, based on their recent form and the weaknesses of their opponents.
