JACK SAID…
GOALKEEPERS
With two favourable fixtures and playing behind one of the strongest defences in the league, Jake Eastwood once again looks like a standout option between the posts. Clean-sheet potential is high given the quality of opposition and the overall defensive strength of his side.
There’s also plenty to like about Nathan Trott, who faces two fairly average attacks. Having both matches at home only strengthens his appeal, making defensive returns a realistic outcome.
A similar case can be made for Craig MacGillivray, whose MK Dons side boast arguably the best fixtures of the week. Representing one of the division’s top teams, he looks well placed to deliver points.
DEFENDERS
Covering a strong defence this week makes plenty of sense, which brings Jack Sanders and Curtis Nelson firmly into the conversation. Both benefit from fixtures that are well-suited to clean sheets, while also offering some attacking threat and reliable bonus potential.
Elsewhere at the back, Adam Senior remains a popular pick. His goal threat is well known, and with these fixtures also offering clean-sheet potential, he continues to provide solid all-round value.
MIDFIELDERS
Consistency has defined the season so far for Lewis Wing, and the upcoming fixtures look ideal for him to continue delivering steady returns.
Alongside him, Charlie Whitaker stands out as a strong attacking option. He plays in a forward-thinking side and carries genuine goal threat, which makes him appealing given the quality of opposition.
There’s also a case for Ben Wiles, who benefits from decent fixtures and could offer value if his minutes remain secure.
FORWARDS
Entering the round in good form, Callum Paterson continues to find ways to return points. With favourable fixtures and a proven ceiling – highlighted by a previous hat-trick – he remains a high-upside option.
Further forward, Ashley Fletcher looks well positioned to take advantage of his matchups, while Aaron Drinan also appeals. Despite two away fixtures, his attacking role in a goal-hungry side means returns are still very much on the table.
TEAM PICKS
From a team perspective, MK Dons, Cardiff City and Chesterfield all stand out as strong options this week. Wycombe Wanderers also carry significant upside, even with two away fixtures, and shouldn’t be overlooked.
MERLIN SAID…
GOALKEEPERS
Cambridge’s defensive solidity this season puts Jake Eastwood firmly in the conversation once again. He has already racked up 11 clean sheets and leads all League Two goalkeepers for total points. Even when Cambridge concede, Eastwood often delivers through save points. With two must-win home fixtures as the U’s chase automatic promotion, he looks one of the safest options between the posts.
There’s also appeal in Nathan Trott, who remains a clear first-choice goalkeeper and benefits from regular save volume. While clean sheets aren’t guaranteed, his shot-stopping ability gives him a dependable points floor, particularly in tighter matches where he’s kept busy.
Elsewhere, Joe Whitworth continues to impress despite his age. He sees plenty of action, which boosts his save potential, and Exeter’s strong home form increases the likelihood of defensive returns in those fixtures. Even without clean sheets, he has the tools to deliver.
DEFENDERS
From a defensive perspective, Perry Ng stands out thanks to his attacking threat. The full-back has already scored three goals this season and previously hit six in a Championship campaign. Now fully fit after last year’s hamstring issues, his ability to contribute at both ends gives him genuine upside.
Operating at a very high level since arriving, Curtis Nelson has quickly become a key figure for MK Dons. He’s played every minute since joining, scored once, and brings Championship-level experience into League Two. His role in a back three suits his strengths, particularly when it comes to clearances.
Minutes security and balance make Adam Senior another strong option. He supports attacks effectively, gets forward to deliver crosses, and remains reliable defensively, offering steady all-round value.
MIDFIELDERS
Few players offer the same combination of security and upside as Lewis Wing. On penalties and virtually guaranteed to play 90 minutes, he acts as the team’s talisman. With two home fixtures this round, the chances of returns are high, and his ability to score in multiple ways makes him a premium midfield pick.
Currently operating out of position, Charlie Whitaker brings added appeal. He has registered 11 attacking returns in 28 matches and continues to play as a striker for Tranmere. Two home fixtures only increase his upside, particularly given his importance to the side.
For Barnet, Mark Shelton remains one of the league’s most complete midfielders. While no longer on penalties and having missed the last two matches, he still offers multiple routes to points. With two home games against defensively weak opposition, Barnet are firmly on the radar.
FORWARDS
Leading the line for MK Dons, Callum Paterson looks primed for another strong double. He’s on penalties, remains the most secure attacker in the side, and has promotion on the line. Four goals in his last four matches underline his form, while his overall output this season makes him a leading captaincy candidate despite slightly imperfect expected minutes.
Alongside him, Ashley Fletcher continues to impress with his recent goal-scoring form. He leads the line physically and now benefits from improved service following Blackpool’ midfield reinforcements. With strong involvement and reliable minutes, he offers a solid attacking floor.
In Bromley’s promotion push, Michael Cheek remains the focal point. A proven scorer at this level and the club’s penalty taker, he consistently gets chances. While heavily goal-dependent, that role makes him particularly appealing against weaker defences and in home fixtures.
TEAM PICKS
Looking at teams as a whole, MK Dons, Barnet, Chesterfield and Blackpool all stand out this week. Each benefits from two favourable home fixtures, with Blackpool looking especially promising following their recent signings.
DANNY SAID…
GOALKEEPERS
Two home fixtures immediately put Craig MacGillivray on the radar this week. With MK Dons expected to control both matches, there’s a strong chance of at least one clean sheet across the double.
Home advantage also boosts the appeal of Jake Eastwood, who has been particularly tough to beat on his own patch this season. With both fixtures coming at home, he looks well placed for defensive returns.
Despite a trickier opening fixture, Grant Smith still warrants consideration. Playing twice at home gives him a solid platform, and his save potential could prove valuable even if clean sheets don’t materialise immediately.
DEFENDERS
Since arriving at MK Dons, Curtis Nelson has been outstanding. Clean sheets, bonus points and a goal already underline his impact, making him a strong defensive pick this week.
There’s also differential appeal in Sam Curtis, who has impressed in a short spell at Chesterfield. His attacking output stands out for a defender, and two favourable fixtures only add to his upside.
Few defenders come into the round in better form than Adam Senior. Another goal last time out continued a productive season, and with two matches to come, he looks capable of returning once again.
MIDFIELDERS
A double at home against goal-conceding opposition makes Charlie Whitaker an obvious target. His goal and assist output this season speaks for itself, and the fixtures are well suited to his attacking role.
Strong home fixtures also bring Tommi O’Reilly into consideration. With a high level of goal involvement across the campaign, he looks well placed to add further returns this week.
Playing both matches at home should suit Lewis Wing, particularly given his influence on games. The fixtures give him a platform to contribute through both defensive actions and attacking output.
FORWARDS
Everything points towards Callum Paterson continuing his fine form. Already on 14 goals for the season, he now benefits from a favourable double that could see that tally grow further.
Form alone makes Aaron Drinan hard to ignore. With a double Gameweek ahead, backing him to maintain his momentum feels logical.
Another player to keep firmly on the shortlist is Ashley Fletcher. He’s in excellent form, has been heavily involved in goals all season, and benefits from two home fixtures that suit his profile.
TEAM PICKS
MK Dons stand out as a priority team pick this week, with two strong home fixtures. Chesterfield also appeal, having gone unbeaten in their last three matches and facing a favourable double. Cardiff City continue to impress at the top of League One and boast an excellent home record, while Blackpool round things off as an intriguing option with two home matches against sides struggling for form.
LOUIS SAID…
GOALKEEPERS
Cardiff City have two home fixtures and this naturally makes Nathan Trott a great pick.
Cambridge United are the best home side in the league from a defensive perspective, so Jake Eastwood is another shoo-in. MK Dons’ Craig MacGillivray is also a fantastic option.
DEFENDERS
Perry Ng continues to start for Cardiff, so I’m backing him to pick up a good return this week. Similar could be said for MK Dons man Curtis Nelson. I would pick Jack Sanders, but his recent gametime is a concern, so I’m not sure he’d start both.
Lincoln City have also been fantastic this season, and their best option at the back is of course Sonny Bradley. I think he could do well this week.
MIDFIELDERS
Lewis Wing continues to offer excellent consistency and a double Gameweek makes him an essential.
Tranmere Rovers aren’t exactly steady in terms of form, but talisman Charlie Whitaker consistently finds different ways to pick up points, which means he offers a safe floor going into the round.
I also think Chris Willock could be a good differential. Naturally I pick a low-owned player most weeks in midfield, and the Cardiff attacker fills that spot for me this week.
FORWARDS
MK Dons man Callum Paterson has been relentless recently and arguably one of the best performing forwards in the game. With that in mind, and considering his double Gameweek, he feels essential.
Swindon Town’s double also brings Aaron Drinan back into the fold again. Drinan has been another top performing forward as of late, so he is another easy addition.
Lincoln City’s Freddie Draper is another top option heading into round.
TEAM PICK
There are several teams with good fixtures this week that you could back. Of them, MK Dons stand out, as well as Cardiff City.
Home form means Cambridge United are another fantastic pick. They join Chesterfield who aren’t necessarily a great side, just have two very good fixtures.
