It’s time for our Fantasy EFL Gameweek 40 team reveals. It’s the final round of the standard campaign, where all 72 teams play just once.

Our panel showcase their squads, the differentials they’re targeting and the captaincy choices that could define the round.

NOTES

  • I’m hoping to cement my place at the top of the Salford City mini-league in the final week, and pick up the prize! With the lead I have and playing a chip this week, I feel confident.
  • I usually play my max captain chip on the final day of the season. Returns are a lot less predictable, and swings seem bigger in single Gameweeks, so there is no better time to use it in my opinion. It also makes the final day very fun!
  • Anyway, Christian Walton takes his place between the sticks. He joins Omar Sowunmi of Bromley and Salford City’s Adebola Oluwo, two of my favourite defender assets from this season. Both have clean sheet potential, along with attacking threat.
  • I’m ending the standard campaign with a three-man midfield, and two more of my favourite assets from the campaign: Oliver Norwood and Lewis Wing. That may be boring but they have been super reliable this season. I’m not sure how differential West Bromwich Albion’s Isaac Price will be against Sheffield Wednesday, but I’m hoping he has a big week.
  • Up front, I can’t not go with Lorent Tolaj. He’s been fantastic as of late and his side need to win.
  • Team picks didn’t take long to pick. Plymouth Argyle face a poor Northampton Town, whilst Millwall have to win against Oxford United at home.
  • I doubt I’ll change from this team. Captaincy won’t matter either this week due to the chip, good luck!

NOTES

  • In goal, I’m going with Christian Walton. He has a strong fixture. It’s a game where his side must stay tight at the back to secure promotion.
  • At the back, I’ve gone with Carl Piergianni and Jake Cooper. Both cover two of the standout defences this week. Clean sheet potential is high. There’s also bonus and some goal threat.
  • In midfield, Lewis Wing and Oliver Norwood will be popular picks. But with it being the final gameweek, I’m chasing ceiling. Ben Knight is the first name in. He’s the talisman for Cambridge and on penalties. The matchup against a depleted Crewe side looks strong. Isaac Price continues to impress. He also faces the weakest team in the league, which adds even more appeal.
  • Up front, I’m backing Aribim Pepple and Lorent Tolaj. There may be a bit of fan bias here. Still, it’s a must-win game, and Northampton have been very poor. There should be goals.
  • The teams I’m targeting are Plymouth Argyle and Cambridge United. Both have strong away matchups. That brings plenty of upside for this final gameweek.
