I'm starting to wonder about taking risks to chase rank. I have a paid money league and I'm like 10 points behind. It's gonna be really hard to make ground when everyone has the same Mbappe, Messi, Kane fwdline. I can't drop Mbappe or Messi with their fixtures. But maybe Kane vs DRC.

I like Havertz vs Paraguay. He could be on pens, he's starting CF. Paraguay showed how vulnerable they could be vs USA. We have 4 transfers for next round. I can't see any of France, England, Argentina, Spain losing and the rest of my team are full of them for qual booster.

Maybe I take two spots in my team - currently Kane & Bellingham. And take some differential risks. Havertz is one. Maybe I double up with Sane/Musiala? Any other midfield one week punts you like?

Here's another thought. I don't want any Colombia players because they play in the last game. I think they'll win, but I'm nowhere near as confident on it as Argentina vs CPV. If qualbooster is on, I can see the teams with Munoz & Diaz being in a difficult position of having to sub them on for players that have qual boost. I just feel it will leave you in some difficult positions and I want Argentina to anchor my team.

Again, not all teams are created equal in this format. Teams that play early are better for taking punts on - player wise and captain wise. It's why I'm looking at Germans and maybe Brazilians also.

In MF - Manzambi, Vargas, Trossard, Musiala, Sane, Pulisic, Salah?!

I don't get the notion of your starting XI picking the qual boost at the deadline. I think it's just odd wording in the rules. Have we seen this kind of chip in other fifa fantasy games before working that way?

I read it as all your starting players after subs, be it manual or not, get +2 if they're through to last 16 and they played a minute.

Yes that is my understanding also.

But the point is, I'm not as confident that Colombia get through than Argentina. And I want to maximize this chip. To maximize the chip, you'll want to have all 15 players play/have a shot at it. Knowing that you can anchor your team with Argentina players gives a bit more security than a Colombian. It's really that simple.

Musiala is a good cover for Germany. Havertz is ok but I believe Haaland can get another great game vs CIV as he did vs Senegal. From my perspective at Munoz and Diaz, they can be a great rank booster if Colombia delivers. I have watched Ghana in all 3 games and they did not impress to be fair, except for CS vs Eng. I think Colombias attack with Suarez back in the lineup would break Ghana easily. And surely most of us will have a player or two blanking in earlier matches. Qualification bonus on 2 points doesn't seem much.

Also Musiala was subjected to rotation in past games. He's still not at 100% according to German media reports hence to his recent injury. But they need him in form and competitive for this tournament, so he could also easily explode vs Paraguay

'surely most of us will have a player or two blanking in earlier matches.'

No joke, this was an issue for me in the past round. I had 7 as my lowest scoring player (non-defender). And had to decide whether to sub on Saka or not. It worked out but it very easily could have failed.

With qual booster, this makes things even trickier. If O'Reilly gets like 5 points and +2 qual booster as your lowest scoring player, do you sub on Munoz? I wouldn't be super happy about it and I see this situation coming up with our expanded budgets and the favorable fixtures.

I just really don't want to have to leave a player on the bench and if you anchor your team with 3 Argentines you pretty much know you're guaranteed 6 points in qual booster plus the super likely double clean sheet and whatever Messi scores (which actually doesn't matter because everyone has him).

I have negative interest in Summerville. I think there are so many better players to go for.

I'd sooner go for Ashour of Egypt for 4.5m.

I expect bosnia to perform, even if it fails, katic can go to the bench, got enough backups. Got 0.5m so it is viable as well. Can get Danillo, already have Marquinhos, what do you day. Double up on Brazil defense. Yes or No?

Yes. I think it's pretty obvious that it's gonna be Medina/Molina for the rest of the tournament.

With that in mind, I'm buying Molina this week for scouting bonus and adding Medina next week. I'm fairly confident Molina stays under 5% because people will pick up Medina this week since he's cheaper and scored better.

After many drafts where I was forced to pick players I am not confident in I finally found a "problem" and its Yamal. I know it can backfire hard but I would rather own likes of Diaz, Wirtz or Vargas over Manzambi and nailed defenders.

Spain doesnt look good atm but yea for sure that can change. We have 4FTs and unless there are major upsets I can easily move Wirtz to Spain cover in likes of Baena/Williams.
Also many managers are skipping on Germany vs Paraguay because of France in next MD which is mistake I think with transfers e get and missmatches in R32.

This is my team that is pretty much locked in for now. Qualification bonus active. Only dillema is Kane/Haaland.

    Freese Martinez
    Cucurella Martinez Dest Johnston(CAD) Sanchez(COL)
    Wirtz Diaz Vini Dembele Vargas
    Kane Messi Mbappe

Johnston easy transfer to Medina next MD.

I'm fine with the idea. Don't like the defense though. You are losing one of the last chances at scouting bonus with a lot of these picks and I strongly oppose going for Colombia defense because they play last.

Canada and USA defenders are good for this round but then what? You're gonna commit to using 2 FTs for them?

You have cheap options from good teams like D.Santos for Brazil and even someone like O'Reilly who isn't that much more who will likely last you at least until the QFs.

The reasoning is in one of my earlier posts. Teams are not equally valuable when the game is played with manual subs.

Expected points need to be higher from players playing later in the tournament. That lowers the appeal of players like Munoz and Diaz. They might still have a high enough EV to be worth picking - Diaz for instance could well be worth it, but I would definitely not go for a Colombia defender.

I'd rather go Canada, USA even Mexico/Ecuador before I go for a Colombian defender even if they have a higher chance of a clean sheet/progressing because of this effect.

Me and the lads are doing a challenge for R32 where we can only pick players under 5% owned and a maximum of one player per team. Feel free to make your own team based on these rules if you fancy a bit of fun or let me know how you would improve the below.

    Shobeir, Vargas
Van Hecke, Sanchez, Konsa, Tah, Llorente
Bruno G, Doue, Odegaard, Trossard, Manzambi
    David, Balogun, Lautaro

My logical thinking is to try pick the best player from the team I think will win their game, excluding Portugal/Croatia, and play the qualification booster.

    Cheers and good luck!
