NOTES
- I’m quite satisfied with my draft at the moment. The pricing gives us plenty of flexibility and makes it possible to fit a wide range of players into our squads without making too many compromises.
- I’ve found plenty of genuinely viable £4.5m midfielders, which is why I’ve selected El Bilal Touré and Tommaso Baldanzi.
- There are lots of alternatives, though, including Davide Frattesi, Manuel Locatelli, Romano Schmid, Giorgi Kvernadze, Alessio Cacciamani, Lewis Ferguson and Jacopo Fazzini. Going cheap in those midfield spots has allowed me to spend heavily elsewhere. Lautaro Martinez, Gonçalo Ramos and Nico Paz are my premium picks, although Paz could become Martin Baturina if I become concerned about his minutes early in the season.
- Kenan Yildiz and Moise Kean both look underpriced and feel close to must-haves for me. However, it’s worth keeping an eye on any transfer news surrounding Kean before the deadline.
- In defence, I’ve focused on a small group of teams. I’ve doubled up on Inter, who I expect to rank highly across several key statistics, alongside one defender from Juventus and another from Napoli.
- Finally, I’ve included defensive coverage from Como and Lecce. Both have appealing early fixture runs, which makes their defenders particularly interesting at the start of the season.

NOTES
- Ahead of the new Serie A season, I’ve gone for two cheap goalkeepers who rotate well. Edoardo Corvi should start for Parma following Suzuki’s departure, while Christos Mandas should be ahead of Motta at Lazio after Provedel’s departure. Both Parma and Lazio ranked inside the top 10 for clean sheets last season, so I’m happy to target the £4.5m bracket.
- Justin Bijlow at Genoa and Elia Caprile at Cagliari are other options and potentially safer picks than Mandas.
- In defence, Federico Dimarco needs little introduction. Bremer is my Juventus defender of choice due to his expected minutes and goal threat. I’ve also gone for Jhon Lucumí. He won’t start the opening match, but once he gets into the team, £4.5m for a Juventus defender looks like incredible value. Another £4.5m defender I like is Kaiki. Como have a good opening schedule and his attacking full-back role adds to his appeal. Radu Drăgușin takes my final defensive spot at the same price. I expect Fiorentina to improve significantly under Grosso, while I can rotate him with my other cheap defenders around the better fixtures.
- In midfield, Nico Paz and Kenan Yildiz both make the cut. Paz ranked inside the top six for both goals and assists last season, while Yildiz finished inside the top eight for both. Their opening fixtures also make them potential captaincy options. I also want an Inter triple-up due to their excellent early schedule, so Hakan Calhanoglu comes in at £8.5m. He should offer secure starts and penalties. Mattia Zaccagni provides similar appeal through his expected minutes and spot-kick duties. He has also enjoyed an impressive pre-season, while Lazio sit top of our Fixture Ticker across the opening 10 Gameweeks. My final midfielder is new Frosinone signing Romano Schmid. He’ll spend most weeks on my bench but gets Venezia at home in Gameweek 3. He could also take penalties and, at the very least, should offer secure minutes. Davide Frattesi is another £4.5m option I like.
- Up front, Lautaro Martinez is my first selection. There are some doubts over whether he starts in Matchday 1, so I’ll watch the team news closely before the deadline. Donyell Malen has caused me the biggest headache. He was incredible last season but costs £10.0m and starts with a mixed run of fixtures. I’m still considering downgrading him and investing more in defence or finding the money for Scott McTominay in midfield. For now, though, he stays. His price also makes him a useful placeholder if another premium forward emerges. Moise Kean completes the attack and looks like excellent value. I’ll monitor the reports linking him with a move to Como, but either way, I expect him to outperform that price.
- Captaincy will likely go to Lautaro if we receive confirmation that he starts. Otherwise, I’ll choose between Yildiz and Dimarco. I have no chips or transfers planned at the start of the season.
- With the transfer window still open and plenty of unknowns, I’d rather remain flexible. Good luck, everyone!

NOTES
- Jean Butez will be my main goalkeeper. He enjoyed an excellent season with Como, helping them secure a Champions League place while recording 19 clean sheets and winning the Golden Glove. Filip Stankovic of Venezia will be my back-up.
- In defence, Federico Dimarco needs little introduction. Inter have an excellent defensive record, so he takes the first spot in my backline. Bremer also comes in after a strong season with Juventus. Gianluca Mancini is another player I’m happy to start with. Roma’s fixtures improve as the season progresses, but I think he’s strong enough to own from Gameweek 1. Amir Rrahmani of Napoli and Radu Drăgușin of Fiorentina complete my defence.
- In midfield, Nico Paz is an easy selection after remaining at Como for another season. Kenan Yildiz also makes the cut, with his low price allowing me to spread funds elsewhere. They’re joined by Andy Diouf, who I expect to line up at wing-back for Inter. Real Madrid loanee Franco Mastantuono will spend the season with Fiorentina and has the potential to become a great Fantasy asset. Samuel Chukwueze of Milan completes my midfield.
- Up front, I’m starting with Lautaro Martinez. There is some talk about a potential move, so I’ll monitor that situation. He can also face rotation once the Champions League begins. At that point, Donyell Malen could become a target once Roma’s fixtures improve. Milan’s new striker Gonçalo Ramos also makes my frontline after arriving from PSG. I think he could work well under fellow countryman Rubin Amorim. Artem Dovbyk completes the attack after joining Bologna on a season-long loan from Roma. For Gameweek 1, Lautaro Martinez takes the captaincy, with Nico Paz as my vice-captain.

NOTES
- We have a new Serie A Fantasy game, and I’m looking forward to seeing what it brings. It’ll be nice to set my team before the deadline without having to make substitutions or constantly change captain throughout the Gameweek.
- In goal, I’ve gone for two £4.5m options in Parma’s Edoardo Corvi and Lazio’s Christos Mandas. I like both defences, or at least their potential to keep clean sheets long-term. Having two options also gives me some cover if one fails to start regularly.
- My defence includes a double-up on Inter, alongside Andrea Cambiaso, who offers plenty of attacking potential for Juventus. Giovanni Di Lorenzo gives me long-term coverage of the Napoli defence, while Torbjørn Heggem completes the backline. Bologna don’t have European football this season, so their players should face less rotation. That also contributes to my decision to pick Riccardo Orsolini in midfield. He has historically been a bit of a Fantasy troll, but he’s priced well and remains a key player for Bologna. I could say something similar about Mattia Zaccagni – what a nightmare he’s been in the past! However, at £5.5m, I can’t really complain. I’ve also selected set-piece taker Lewis Ferguson, although a Bologna triple-up could prove excessive. I expect them to improve this season, so I’m willing to take that chance initially. Kenan Yildiz and Nico Paz complete my midfield.
- Up front, Lautaro Martinez leads the line and takes the captaincy. He’s joined by new Milan signing Gonçalo Ramos, while Moise Kean comes in at a price that feels too cheap to ignore. I expect the squad could still change as we approach the Gameweek 1 deadline.
