Captain Sensible

With the Gameweek 7 deadline of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) approaching, it’s time to have a good think about who to captain.

On paper, it’s a straightforward decision with Manchester City hosting Ipswich Town. Erling Haaland (£15.6m) will doubtless be the default choice for many millions of FPL managers.

Elsewhere, the rest of the league’s top three, Brighton and Hove Albion and Arsenal, enjoy green fixtures on paper facing Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest, respectively. Joao Pedro (£7.8m) et al face a tricky match-up away at Everton.

Is Haaland the best Man City asset to exploit the favourable fixture? Who is the best non-City alternative to the Norwegian? Should you deploy the Triple Captain chip? That’s what we’re considering in this week’s ‘Captain Sensible’ article.

In this piece, we will analyse myriad player and team statistics, consult the Rate My Team (RMT) points projections, and settle on a top three for the armband, ahead of Saturday’s 11am BST deadline.

The popup ads and bottom banner is so frustrating. I agree that’s it’s a throwback to how sites used to be. These days ads are implemented into articles and it’s so disappointing this site isn’t doing that and instead we get something from 2010s.

    1. JoeSoap

Looks ok. Palmer v Saka is hard to call. Chelsea just look like they will score more goals at the minute

    2. Ignasi M
      18 hours, 44 mins ago

Yeah, Saka has underwhelmed in the premier league for two seasons. He produces more output in the champions league but that's only because it's more open and the teams are not so familiar with his style (drop shoulder, shoot with left foot on corner of box)

      1. AC/DC AFC
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member
        18 hours, 30 mins ago

I just prefer Saka rather than putting all my eggs into the Chelsea attacking basket

        Palmer ain't scoring loads either

Can easily switch it out if I've made an obvious mistake in that spot.

MGW will come good soon, too.

Saka scored 7 goals and got 10 assists last season while being out injured for half of it, and has also scored 3 goals in 6 games this season. What in the world are you talking about mate.

        1. Ignasi M
          18 hours, 11 mins ago

I agree with you! Injury has hampered his productivity. However, his output has been low in the premier league for the last two seasons compared to previous seasons?

Same midfield as you and same dilemma. Will wait for the presser and will be a toss-up between Cherki and Boomo. Cherki for suspense, possible excitement and upside. Boomo because he can score goals, will get 90mins and should have had more than he has... but it's Leeds etc. Don't think Cherki will get 90 mins (max 60 probably) but might be enough. Will probably flip a coin.
