Once again it’s time for us to cast an eye over the Sky Sports game. As always, we assess the recent run of Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, bonus point beneficiaries, the transfer trends, the watchlist and a look at the Scout team and our future plans.

Gameweek 34 Man of the Match Awards

Listed below are the players that caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters from last weekend’s fixtures achieving the Man of the Match award (worth an additional five points).

FixtureMoTM
Arsenal vs LiverpoolMesut Ozil
Everton vs SouthamptonPhil Jagielka
Leicester vs West HamJamie Vardy
Man United vs Aston VillaAnder Herrera
Swansea vs HullGylfi Sigurdsson
West Brom vs QPRBobby Zamora
Chelsea vs StokeEden Hazard
Burnley vs TottenhamMichael Duff
Sunderland vs NewcastleJermain Defoe
Crystal Palace vs Man CityGlenn Murray
Aston Villa vs QPRChristian Benteke

Two defenders, four midfielders and five forwards picked up the awards this week. Only Eden Hazard, with 26.2% ownership. and Gylfi Sigurdsson (16.4%) were popular picks for Sky Fantasy managers. Hazard now has 11 MoTM awards and further cements his position as the top scoring player in the game.

Gameweek 34 Bonus Points

Only four goalkeepers achieved bonus points from collecting five or more saves. Robert Green popped up again with his customary bonus and remains the busiest keeper in the league, having racked up 28 bonus points over the season.

In defence, eight players grabbed bonus, four for tackles and five for passes completed. Daley Blind was the man to earn both to earn an additional four points alongside his assist – Pablo Zabaleta is still leading the way for defenders with 22 bonus points.

In midfield there were 23 beneficiaries in total: 13 for tackling and 11 for passes. Brazilian enforcer Lucas was the man to grab both, completing exactly 60 passes and four tackles. Chelsea duo Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic are the game’s overall highest bonus point earners with 44.

Fantasy Football Scout members can access all information regarding bonus points using player stats and clicking the Sky Sports tab.

The Transfer Trends

Top Transfers Out

NameTeamValue% of Managers
CostaChelsea9.519.9%
ForsterSouthampton4.910.4%
LlorisTottenham5.43.1%
HuttonAston Villa3.82.8%
SturridgeLiverpool9.82.8%

With injury plaguing the top four listed here, only Daniel Sturridge looks likely to feature at the weekend – his mediocre form appears to have made 2.8% of managers look elsewhere.

Top Transfers In

NameTeamValue% of Managers
AgueroMan City9.87.9%
GiroudArsenal8.96.2%
KaneTottenham6.75.9%
FabianskiSwansea3.85.3%
RooneyMan United9.44.2%

Diego Costa’s mass exodus means four forwards make it into the top five transferred in. The majority of Fraser Forster and Hugo Lloris owners also seem to have jumped on board the highest owned keeper in the game – Swansea’s Lukasz Fabianski.

The average amount of transfers remaining amongst the top 1,000 currently is 4.358.

Top Five Captains Picked

NameTeamValue% of Managers
CostaChelsea9.514.8%
RooneyMan United9.49.5%
AgueroMan City9.87.2%
KaneTottenham6.76.8%
FabregasChelsea8.66.4%

With only Kane set to feature on Saturday from this quintet, there could be significant movement on that day for the 6.8% heading into that day with the Spurs striker sporting the armband.

Watchlist

Here I aim to highlight a few differential players with sub-6% ownership that I think could be good options in the coming weeks to help you climb the rankings. These will be looked at in three specific price brackets to cater for our available budget. These names evolve with fixtures and form and offer Fantasy managers a nudge in hopefully the right direction.

ITB: 1.0m
Transfers remaining: 7/40
Last week’s points: 62
Overall points: 1857
Rank: 155

Notes
I moved up a whole four places overall after earning 62 points last time out. However, I can’t help but think about the missed opportunity of drafting in Christian Benteke as skipper – he would have picked up 58 points over the two matches and, with an ownership of 0.72%, would have all but guaranteed a high ranking finish. Moving forward, I’m looking at addressing my double West Brom defence in the coming weeks – both Kieran Trippier and Aaron Creswell look good options, with strong fixtures and attacking intent. Jordan Henderson is another I’m eyeing up but, with his impending blank Gameweek, I’ll wait on that move for now.

Captain Plan
On Saturday, I’m locked into Harry Kane for his home encounter with Villa. The Spurs forward suffered a rare blank last week but hopefully Villa’s all-out attacking approach will allow Kane to pick holes in their defence.

For Sunday, it’s a familiar choice with Eden Hazard the standout option once again. Those chasing may want to punt at this stage but in all honesty I think there will be better Gameweeks to go down this route- Hazard’s on fire and I can’t see beyond the Belgian.

There is also a Monday night match this week, which presents the option for three captains if you choose to use a transfer. Liverpool at home to Newcastle is very tempting to use one but with the hosts now having a blank next week it’s likely to mean two transfers unless you’re happy to accept going into next Gameweek with no captain setup.

The Fantasy Football Scout League

Once again, we’re running our own Fantasy Football Scout League this season and we’re currently topping the Private League rankings. With a £1000 prize to the winner, you’d be mad not to get involved. To join, visit Sky Sports Fantasy Football and key in League Name: FFScout, League Code: 8009000.

The Fantasy Football Club

This Friday The Fantasy Football Club show, where you can catch Fenners and Merse at 18:30 SkySports One HD where they will be discussing the upcoming week’s Fantasy Football, quizzing former Spurs manager Harry Redknapp and asking current Leicester man Nigel Pearson for his #One2Eleven.

You should, as a Liverpool fan, henderson is overrated, hope the contract issues force liverpool to sell him. To inconsistent, and not dependable, just runs a lot and once in a while his efforts are rewarded with a goal. The captains ban has gone straight to his ego.

still not sure, but leaning towards c

decided to make my striker choice based on what it allows me to do with my 2 FTs next week to sell Kos and get a keeper (will be on wc so keeper must have a GW33 match) so
    a) Murray, Baines and a keeper for up to 5.5
    b) Gomis, Jags and a keeper for up to 5.5
    c) Remy, Jags and a keeper for up to 4.9

I feel like i'm missing something here. I have just read through all the remy/murray/gomis comments/articles and can't for the life of me think why Beharino isnt mentioned far more. I'm planning to do Austin > Beharino tomorrow morning. Let me explain why:

Remy - Good option no doubt, concern over minutes but proven goalscorer and should play minimum 120 minutes in the double gw. My problem with Remy is that he seems to only play 65-70 mins when he does play, and i can see Drogba starting against the red devils next week. This would mean Remy gets about 90 minutes over next two GW's, then I would expect around 120 mins in double gw. So 210 in total.

Gomis - If anyone have watched swansea this season they dont create many chances at all. Gomis has been woeful most of the season and plays with back to goal most of the time. A couple of his few goals this season have been deflections off him and despite him scoring two last week he hasn't even come into my thinking with a tough trip to an improving everton.

Murray - Has sunderland and west brom next, arguably two poor sides who can actually defend. Factor in return of Campbell/Chamakh and if he blanks this gw he may not get full mins next week.

Beharino - Has Leicester at home this week (The same Leicester that need to win nearly every game now) and Pearson has stated its going to be gung ho from now on. They conceded 4 at Spurs and the game against wham could have finished 4 each in truth. Beharino is 2nd only to aguero for shots in last few GW's and is on penos, with a trip to palace after that (the same palace side that have kept 1 CS since Pardew took over) he has definitely got potential to bag 1 in both games if not more.

Conclusion : Remy or Beharino but as both will play similar mins over the next 3 weeks it has to be Beharino with penos and 1.5m cheaper!

    Thoughts?

Murray would be my second or third choice. A very safe option compared to Berahino. I just can't say no to a 7.1 mill chelsea striker heading up attack this close to a DGW, even if I have a WC I'd rather get him now before he explodes

            What if Costa returns early?

What if drogba starts one week?

Too risky. 2 che is fine up until dgw when there is more information.

Remy is risky. Murray is the safe option if you are leading this week.

I think it's the opposite. Those leading might feel more impetus to get Remy so as not to miss out (judging by how the tide is turning).. Murray is a good option, but more attractive if you want to close a gap or create some differential.

I don't think he will have it that easy against Sunderland, could even be shut out and West Brom could bore us all to death 😉

Really I'd like to take more risks but I don't feel brave enough with a player I'm not that familiar with!

Any Palace fans on here know how nailed on jedinak will be once he returns this weekend? was thinking of swapping puncheon for him this week as my fifth midfielder so that it leaves me just enough in the bank to bring in ivanovic and Davis for Terry and Guzan.

The fact that Drogba played the full 90 and scored against Man U last time out.....well, I have to say it's making me a little skeptical of doing the old Austin to Remy routine.

So if you still have a WC for GW34, would you bring in either Sturridge or Remy this weekend? Or is there a better striker punt?

The last 3 names in your team sound like it should be a singer on American Idol.

Here, with her new single 'It ain't easy being easy', it's Kelly Upson-Sinclair!!! (Crowd applauds politely)

Yes considered Remy but game time worry.
Studge has blank week after and is s walking injury.
The jury is still out on Gomis.
Probably are the best 3 options though

Did the most bland transfer but possibly a crucial one, Foster > K Davis

Can't trust Panti for this week, Crystal Palace looks dangerous.

What would you do with Foster + Krul ?

I've 1 FT and will probably use it for Austin ---> Remy.

I usually don't take hits, but Foster out for -4 ?

    Playing Bertand definitely.

Would normally go Dawson and Terry, but QPR seem likely to score.

    Which two of:
    Dawson
    Bellerín
    Terry
    Moreno
