Once again it’s time for us to cast an eye over the Sky Sports game. As always, we assess the recent run of Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, bonus point beneficiaries, the transfer trends, the watchlist and a look at the Scout team and our future plans.

Gameweek 37 Man of the Match Awards

Listed below are the players that caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters from last week’s fixtures achieving the Man of the Match award (worth an additional five points).

FixtureMoTM
Southampton vs TottenhamGraziano Pelle
Burnley vs LeicesterWes Morgan
Crystal Palace vs HullDame N’Doye
Newcastle vs SwanseaNelson Oliveira
QPR vs West HamAdrian
Stoke vs SunderlandCharlie Adam
West Brom vs LiverpoolBoaz Myhill
Man City vs Aston VillaChristian Benteke
Everton vs Man UnitedJames McCarthy
Arsenal vs ChelseaJohn Terry
Hull vs LiverpoolMichael Dawson
Leicester vs ChelseaWillian

A massive week for differentials, with only Graziano Pelle having any significant ownership (9.5%). Our Watchlist tips last week – Charlie Adam, Christian Benteke and John Terry – all came in with MoTM performances to reward anyone who took our advice. James McCarthy picked up his fourth MoTM award and seems to be quite a favorite of the Sky reporters – possibly one to watch out for next season if given a kinder price.

Last week we also talked up Marc Albrighton and Jamie Vardy as possible differentials ahead of Leicester’s double and both duly delivered with 13 points and 12 points respectively.

Gameweek 37 Bonus Points

Five goalkeepers managed to pick up saves bonus this week. Steve Harper was the biggest earner with two clean sheets to add to his save bonus, meaning he picked up 16 points. QPR’s Robert Green is the busiest keeper in the league, having racked up 28 bonus points over the season.

In defence, six players grabbed bonus, six for tackles and one for passes completed – Swansea full-back Angel Rangel was the man to collect both and gains four additional points. Pablo Zabaleta is still leading the way for defenders with 24 bonus points.

In midfield, there were 26 beneficiaries in total: 16 for tackling and 15 for passes. A few players manage to pick up both, whilst the stand out option was Liverpool’s Emre Can, who earned passing bonus twice and tackling once across his two fixtures – a nice additional six points for the makeshift defender. Chelsea duo Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic are the game’s overall highest bonus earners with 46 extra points.

Fantasy Football Scout members can access all information regarding bonus points using player stats and clicking the Sky Sports tab.

The Transfer Trends

Top Transfers Out

NameTeamValue% of Managers
PelleSouthampton7.44.2%
HuttonAston Villa3.83.8%
SanchezArsenal9.52.8%
FabregasChelsea8.62.7%
CostaChelsea9.52.5%

Graziano Pelle is a strange one as the Italian has recently returned to form and looks a decent option for the run-in. Diego Costa remains out, whilst Alan Hutton is still doubtful going in to the weekend. Alexis Sanchez and Cesc Fabregas also have decent fixtures ahead and perhaps have been shipped by those Fantasy managers needing to find some differential options in order to climb the leader boards.

Top Transfers In

NameTeamValue% of Managers
KaneTottenham6.76.3%
AgueroMan City9.85%
CoutinhoLiverpool7.54.3%
SilvaMan City8.73.4%
Sung-YuengSwansea53.1%

Harry Kane and Sergio Aguero are again the top forwards drafted in as they clash this weekend at White Hart Lane. Philippe Coutinho and David Silva are the pricier midfield options of choice this week ,whilst Ki Sung-Yeung continues to be the favored budget choice – despite dropping out of the Swansea XI last week.

We have some important transfer data to keep an eye on as the season comes to an end. Currently, the average amount of transfers remaining in the top 1000 players is 2.777, whilst the top 100 have 2.54 and finally the top 10 have 2.9.

Top Five Captains Picked

CostaChelsea9.513.6%
RooneyMan United9.49.9%
HazardChelsea8.98.1%

Again this really highlights the amount of dead teams in the Sky game with only Wayne Rooney set for a Saturday fixture after recovering from a knee problem.

Watchlist

Here I aim to highlight a few differential players with sub-6% ownership that I think could be good options in the coming weeks to help you climb the rankings. These will be looked at in three specific price brackets to cater for our available budget. These names evolve with fixtures and form and offer Fantasy managers a nudge in hopefully the right direction.

Notes
I’m edging ever closer to the elusive top 100 and am just 20 places away now. With five transfers remaining I should be able to do it with a little bit of luck. I used two transfers this week; one of which was swapping out Joleon Lescott (who earned a clean sheet) to Jeffrey Schlupp, who didn’t feature due to injury – that was a real kick in the teeth but the Leicester man has now recovered for the run-in. The other transfer in was Philippe Coutinho, who, despite being the best Liverpool player on the pitch against Hull, ended up with only passing bonus – similarly to Schlupp, he now has the fixtures to make amends and hopefully it will work out in the long run. This week I’m going to look at Arsenal assets, targeting their Monday night match in order to gain the extra player over the week.

Captain Plan
On Saturday, I’m locked into Philippe Coutinho for his home tie against QPR. Although Liverpool’s form has been dire, I still think the little Brazilian can pick something up here and to be honest it’s still the stand out match up from Saturday’s fixtures.

For Sunday, I’ll be swapping to Harry Kane, who plays Man City at home. Although this is a tough fixture and Eden Hazard is at home to Crystal Palace on the same day, going with a Tottenham player sets you up for the following week, where they play on Saturday, whereas Chelsea don’t feature until Sunday afternoon.

There is also a Monday night showdown to contend with, where in-form Hull take on Arsenal at the KC Stadium. Unfortunately the Gunners don’t play again until the following Monday, so unless you are flush with transfers to adjust the armband, it looks like one to avoid from a captaincy perspective.

The Fantasy Football Scout League

Once again, we’re running our own Fantasy Football Scout League this season and are currently topping the Private League rankings. With a £1,000 prize to the winner, you’d be mad not to get involved. To join, visit Sky Sports Fantasy Football and key in League Name: FFScout, League Code: 8009000.

The Fantasy Football Club

This Friday The Fantasy Football Club show, where you can catch Fenners and Merse at 18:30 SkySports One HD where they will be discussing the upcoming week’s Fantasy Football, chatting to Saints legend Matt Le Tissier and asking him for his #One2Eleven.

    Current team:

    Myhill
    Terry/Ivanovic/Skrtel
    Downing/Hazard/Sanchez/Herrera/Henderson
    Aguero/Kane

    (Bertrand/Bellerin/Murray/Hamer)

Chasing a 12 point lead. I have already made 2 transfers (-4) to facilitate bringing in Sanchez (hence having Herrera in there). The leader of my mini-league has 4.2 ITB which I'm 90% certain will be used to bring Sanchez back into his side.
Would it be wise to do Murray>Vardy for an extra -4, and then play Vardy over Herrera?

      • 13 Years

A 12 point lead is nothing, don't take the hit, but I'd play Murray over Herrera.

Don't really know what to do this week, here's my team:

    Davis
    Ivanovic, Terry, Koscielny, Morgan, Skrtel
    Hazard (v), Sterling
    Vardy, Benteke, Agüero (c)

    Pantilimon, Coutinho, Cambiasso, Grealish

I have 1 FT and £0.4m in the bank.

Should I make any transfers or change my subs/formation?

I would play coutinho over Morgan or maybe koscielny.

Use free transfer for sterling to Ramsey to get an attacking arsenal player in.

Or save the free transfer, hope sterling does well and arsenal not so well attackingly and use 2 frees next week to shift Liverpool players and bring in some arsenal players then

I feel I'm very much treading water in SKY where last year I had the right captains and transfers, this year the last few weeks have been grim.
I shared captaincies between Hazard (2) and Silva the last couple of weeks. Safe bets just a week or two before they failed in style.

I'm now on Hazard again (both teams) and the only swap this week would be to Arsenal on Monday who then don't play again until the 11th the following Monday.

I'm trying to work out the best way to use a transfer or two to get back to the right captaincy days.

Any help or suggestion happily considered at this stage. I feel a top 200 finish potential slipping away unless I get it right soon.

Could be a brilliant move if Giroud blanks and is then rested in the other match. I don't think any of the Arsenal players in themselves are essential, it will be a bit of a lottery who gets points and they could all be on similar totals

I'm going without. I think it depends on your situation...

I've sealed all my leagues and even giroud capt for anyone won't catch me (unless he gets 75 points?!!). I think it's risky going without him if you're chasing or preserving a small gap and you're leagues are tight.

Well, it was a waste of transfer, but you couldnt know he wouldnt play in the dgw. Bad luck i guess.

Really hard call, but I guess Henderson since you have Sterling as Liverpool cover v QPR

    Whats the priority here?

    Myhill
    JT, Skrtel, Kos
    Hazard (C), Sterling, Silva, Siggy
    Aguero, Kane, Vardy

    Foster Schlupp, Cork, PvA

1 ft, 5.6 itb. Considering bringing in Panti for Foster but it seems a waste...other alternatives are Vardy out for Giroud or one of the mids out for Ozil/Sanchez.

Save, get Sanchez and Giroud next week for Sterling and Kane/Vardy

Is there talk of Haz being rested and that is why a lot are captaining Aguero?

VERY unlikely Hazard gets rested on what is their potentially title winning game. Aguero is more likely to guess less minutes as he usually gets subbed off 70mins in when they're winning

Not heard any talk of that, I'm just going with Aguero because I think he'll outscore Hazard.

I think it's one of those where they both score a similar amount. As long as it's double digits.

What do you reckon will be the final top 6 in the Premier League?

    I think:

    Chelsea
    Arsenal
    City
    United
    Liverpool
    Southampton

I got a split vote on this earlier in the week, so I hope it is okay to ask one final time. Start:

    A) Cambiasso (NEW)
    B) N'Doye (ARS)

    Leaning towards Cambiasso. Thank you!

Anyone been following Ramseys price rise development today?

I was kinda hoping to save my FT, and get him in after the Hull game. Doesn't look like I can take that route if his price goes up. He'll definitely be 8.7 by monday night, and if I'm getting him before the Hull game, i might as well have him play for me.

    1 FT: Cambiasso -> Ramsey.
    Vardy demoted to the bench.
    Decent move?

        This week yes. DGW undecided.
Will keep Vardy for now, if that's what you're getting at.

Was thinking that if you do Cambiasso --> Ramsey you probably are going to get a hard time getting Giroud, due to cash bound up in midfield....

I wouldnt be comfortable going into the dgw without Giroud.

            Good point, thanks.
If I do Cambiasso -> Ramsey, I'd have to sell Aguero for Giroud. Have to say I'm not too scared about going without.

Just thinking slightly longer term... I would want to retain Kane for week 37. Also, he could be charged up going for the golden boot and therefore could score against a city defence who are poor and missing yaya.

    Good to go or . . . . . . .

    Mignolet
    Cresswell Bellerin Bertrand Ivan
    Hazard (C) Sterling Mata Silva
    Aguero (VC) Kane

    Davis/Janmaat/Murray/Bolasie

    (1) Murray and Bolasie to Giroud and Albrighton
    (2) Murray to Vardy and next week trade Vardy/Kane (keep best performer from this weekend) to Giroud
    (3) Silva to Ramsey
