The final week of the August transfer window gave new QPR owner Tony Fernandes plenty chance to splash the cash and he didn’t fail to disappoint. There’s no doubt Neil Warnock’s side have strengthened substantially over the last couple of weeks and last season’s Championship winners will approach an upcoming kind run of games with renewed confidence.

Despite the acquisition of Joey Barton and Shaun Wright-Phillips, it’s Adel Taarabt who blinks loudest on our Fantasy radars and as a result, the Moroccan ranks high on the Watchlist. He may have returned just 9 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points so far this season, but Taarabt has been a threat throughout and is a little unlucky not to have picked up more substantial hauls. He’s had more goal attempts than any QPR player- his tally is just one shot less than David Silva- and has also hit the woodwork as well as creating the same number of goal scoring opportunities as the likes of Charlie Adam.

The clincher here is his set-piece duties; Barton’s arrival will give Warnock’s side a quality corner kick taker but Taarabt -priced at 6.5 in FPL- still looks nailed-on for direct free-kicks and penalties and looks likely to offer a greater attacking potential than any of his team mates.

QPR may have scored just one goal so far this campaign but the increase in quality arrivals should make them a different proposition altogether. If Warnock’s new-look side are to beat the drop, they will need to replicate the sort of form that saw them make Loftus Road something of a fortress last season. With four home games in the next six-(NEW, wol, AVL, ful, BLA, CHE)- Fernandes will be hoping his August investment is about to prove dividend.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Taarabt I think. For all SWP's potential his end product has never been massive. His best season was what 5 goals and 5 assists and that was 3 years ago.
Taarabt may be unproven but as the article points out he's at least doing the right things.

        Indeed

I guess, in any case we've yet to see all 3 in the same team, or how they will line up. Warnock stated before in an article i think that Taarabt isn't safe from rotation, even if he's the captain.

Would be interesting to see if SWP takes any corners, and likewise how much of Taarabts Free kick duties, does Barton take.

To be fair, he hasn't exactly played much. Plus, his best season was probably 4 goals 8 assists, and he only played 1752 minutes. Which is 19 whole games.

Thoughts on Aguero vs Dzeko? Obviously Dzeko is cheaper, but I fancy Aguero over him any day of the week (assuming he is starting, of course). Not to mention everyone in the world has Dzeko in their front three...which makes me reluctant, and I can't see him scoring 4 in a game again...just not sure how Tevez is going to fit in the team now and how that will impact Aguero...any opinions are appreciated.
    Thanks

Only 21% last I checked have Dzeko. Still too early to tell. Tevez will certainly have something to say. We have to see how Mancini deploys all 3. I fear that Dzeko will be rotated this week thanks to the heavy international schedule he's endured.

At this point it's still hard to decide. Now that Tevez is back, we'll see who will get the most mins/starts.

My guess is if you don't have one of them (unless you're on WC) it's not the time to bring anyone in. If Dzeko gets more minutes and Aguero is rotated with Tevez, then no doubt Dzeko is better choice. However, I agree with you that Aguero is by far better player than Dzeko. In fantasy terms, for me, maybe it's wiser to spend money on RVP now than on Aguero.

Really want Aguero as a differential now as everybody is going for Dzeko but just can't manage to fit him in with other positions lacking. So it is basically down to the following:

I've got coverage for United, City, Chelsea and currently have Suarez and Walcott to cover Arsenal and Liv.

I'm wondering if Liverpool's fixtures make them not as necessary right now and as such should I bring in RVP and replace Walcott with Jarvis/SWP/Taraabt etc?

zee - you need to be careful how you word your opinions?

you dont know if he is out or not and your opinion that he will likely be out becasue it is an ankle injury is just a hunch on your part.

O'Hara, he's had more shots than Jarvis.

      Hunt is also another option.

Not definite mate, but looking likely to me. Apologies for the confusion.

My problem is that i currently have Nasri/Jarvis who both look doubtful.

I can switch Nasri to Silva but then i am 0.1m short so need to downgrage Jarvis. I might go with O Hara i think.

The thing that makes it worse is im away to Bestival tomorrow so am not gonna have a chance to edit my wildcard team before saturday.

Ok, then I'd do those trades.

Jarvis to flip a coin between Hunt/O'Hara
          and Nasri to Silva

I'm in the same boat, so likely to follow.

So what if he had more shots? They're all from distance and off target which does not favour him under the new bonus point system.

Nani is far more likely to be on the bench than Young at the moment because of their form and the fact that Utd have several other players that can play in Nanis position.

            Park, Giggs, Valencia

Also Welbeck or Rooney could play out there to allow Hernandez/Berbatov in the centre

Valencia is injured. Giggs plays on the left side, but when ever he comes on now he plays in the middle. Park is the only one and he, like giggs, usually comes on and plays in the middle.

And I find it hilarious if you really think welbeck or Rooney would play on the right wing so that Fergie could play Hernandez and Berbaotv up front.

              Giggs?

Giggs is playing CM and sometimes LM, never RW.

Park also threatens Young, and Rooney can also play down the left.

Also mentioning a list of players that could play RW isn't the same as them actually playing there.

My thoughts are that the Valencia threat is significant since he should get game time, and its more of a threat to Nani than Giggs/Park are to Young.

Ilamza, I know that Giggs has been playing centrally recently.

And I agree with your other points and I still maintain that Nani is more at risk of rotatation that Young (at the moment)

Not sure why Leysh finds it so hilarious.

i didnt say hernandez AND berbatov i said OR

SAF could quite easily go with Young, Hernandez and Rooney as his front 3.

Yes, but Giggs doesn't play on the right at all (the only time I can recall is CL final '99) so him playing is on no consequence to Nani.
