The final week of the August transfer window gave new QPR owner Tony Fernandes plenty chance to splash the cash and he didn’t fail to disappoint. There’s no doubt Neil Warnock’s side have strengthened substantially over the last couple of weeks and last season’s Championship winners will approach an upcoming kind run of games with renewed confidence.

Despite the acquisition of Joey Barton and Shaun Wright-Phillips, it’s Adel Taarabt who blinks loudest on our Fantasy radars and as a result, the Moroccan ranks high on the Watchlist. He may have returned just 9 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points so far this season, but Taarabt has been a threat throughout and is a little unlucky not to have picked up more substantial hauls. He’s had more goal attempts than any QPR player- his tally is just one shot less than David Silva- and has also hit the woodwork as well as creating the same number of goal scoring opportunities as the likes of Charlie Adam.

The clincher here is his set-piece duties; Barton’s arrival will give Warnock’s side a quality corner kick taker but Taarabt -priced at 6.5 in FPL- still looks nailed-on for direct free-kicks and penalties and looks likely to offer a greater attacking potential than any of his team mates.

QPR may have scored just one goal so far this campaign but the increase in quality arrivals should make them a different proposition altogether. If Warnock’s new-look side are to beat the drop, they will need to replicate the sort of form that saw them make Loftus Road something of a fortress last season. With four home games in the next six-(NEW, wol, AVL, ful, BLA, CHE)- Fernandes will be hoping his August investment is about to prove dividend.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Make or break gameweek wildcard - that means you have gone for risky options or you went for a sensible approach in which case 50-60 points a week?

Posted this on last page but don't think you will have seen it.

You need to utilise your full squad and have rotating keepers and defenders on different match days so you can sub one out in place of another – no use posting your first XI.

As we all know , Fernando Torres is totally incapable of scoring in a barrel load of fannies. Having said that, every dog has it'd day and you just wouldn't put it past the toad to bag a couple at the weekend. Sods Law I think they call it.

Does anyone else think that Odemwingie is worth a punt against Norwich if he is healthy? Seems worth the roll of the dice for this weekend and with WBs fixtures, he could be a good longterm option aswell.

If you are just starting out and as result have to pay 9.7 for Suarez, I would say switch him out for Dzeko, atleast for 4GWs until Liverpools fixtures get better. You could also downgrade shawcross to woodgate to save some extra coin. That should give you an extra 1.3 to upgrade either Cabaye or Dyer.

This is going to be quite a long one, so feel free to reply 'tl;dr'. 😛

On WC, and got the usual Rooney, RVP, Dzeko, Walcott, etc etc. But decided to have a little think about going in a different direction and spread the Rooney/RVP wealth out a bit (I doubt I'll actually go for it, but just thinking out loud for a moment).

    Bego - Hennessey
    Bosingwa - Shawcross - Ward - Simpson - Taylor
    Young - Silva - Walcott - Arteta - Dyer
    Suarez - Dzeko - Adebayor

Offensively it would be the obvious 7 starting with Dyer as back up incase someone gets dropped/rested. Young, Silva & Walcott should be long term, but the current Arteta spot being transferred to whoever has decent fixtures.

Defensively it would be Bosingwa every week, plus doubling up and rotating Stoke and Wolves. Stoke are going to be solid again, most likely, and Wolves have thus far looked a lot better this season and I do fancy them to be pretty hard to break down. Added to this a Swansea & Newcastle defender rotating each week. Rotations are below, and I think they're pretty good.

    Stoke/Wolves rotation:
LIV/TOT, QPR, MUN, NEW/swa, FUL, SWA, NEW, WIG, QPR, BLA, SUN, TOT, STK/wol, NOR, AVL, WIG, CHE/bla.

    Newcastle/Swansea rotation:
qpr, WBA, BLA, STK, TOT/nor, WIG, BOL, EVE, MUN/mcy, AVL, CHE/bla, FUL/nor, SWA, WBA, QPR, TOT, MUN/avl, QPR.

It would require quite the set of balls to ignore Rooney & RVP, but Suarez, Dzeko & Adebayor (I think) will all score plenty of goals, and they should be brilliant value at £2.5M - £4M less than the big two. As I said, I'll probably bottle it and just end up going for a team similar to the bog standard FFS team. But, just putting a different idea out there and wonder what people think about it?

You've got an excellent front 7, but you're going to have a tricky captaincy choice most weeks, and you'll probably get it wrong (ie not pick the highest scoring one) more often than not, just because you're so spoiled for choice and there's no stand-out player.

With Rooney and RVP you can captain one or the other in almost any game.

Yeah, the captain choices would be very hit and miss no doubt, and captains are such a big part of this game and that's the biggest problem I see in the plan.

Considering you're happy with the NEW/SWA rotation, Vorm/Krul makes a lot more sense than Bego/Hennessay (1.0 saving)

That saving can upgrade your defenders to get Johnson over Ward, or STaylor over Simpson.

Or you could get Petrov for Dyer, or get a 9.5 for Walcott.

      Overall I like the concept.

Me I'm going the complete opposite and looking at ways to bring in both RvP and Rooney for a team that looks like:

      Schwarzer/Vorm
      Kompany/Bosingwa/de Laet/Olsson/Ward
      (Silva or Young)/Hoolahan/Brunt/O'Hara/Petrov
      RvP/Rooney/Suarez

      Your take on that one?

Nice. It's pretty similar to what I'm probably going to go for. As I said, I'll no doubt bottle it and get Rooney & RVP.

I'd definitely go Silva over Young, seeing as you have Rooney already and no other City attackers. Plus Nasri's broken his hand (or something like that) so Silva's place should be assured for a few weeks before rotation inevitably kicks in.

Is Hoolahan definitely going to start every game? Looks like Norwich may be rotating quite a bit.

All in all, I do like it.

Any Norwich City fans on here?

I'm interested in picking Bradley Johnson for my team, but I have slight doubts about his selection. Is he likely to play nearly every game now? I noticed that he was missing from the first game of the season. If he continues to play and takes the corners he seems like a good prospect at 4.5m. I already have N. Dyer and need another 4.5m midfielder for my bench.

Looks like he'll be keeping his place for the forseeable future. I'm a Leeds fan and reckon he isn't a bad shout for 4.5. He's no goal machine but he'll chip in with 1 or 2 as well as picking up a few bookings but the fact that he's been taking some corners and indirect freekicks looks good for the price.

What are people's thought about taking an 8 points hit, even if theres no injury problem on the team? Is it never worth it? Just thought I'd get some differentials early in the season and while I'm still in a pretty good position (trailing leader by 12). Cheers.

Well are the players you bring in likely to outscore the ones you already have by 4 points? If you're confident then go for it but it's not something I'd do without it being necessary.

Rooney and Taarbs. Two pen takers and bonus point magnets, plus no rotation risks for either.

          Rooney trumps all anyway.

I'm playing the fixtures with my current WC team and would like to know if Kompany,Silva,Dzeko and Arteta,RVP is too much coverage from only 2 teams? I also have Young for Man U coverage, so I'm thinking its alright.

    Thoughts??

No such thing as 'too much coverage'. Both teams have good fixtures, chase them.

No point being right about the fixtures and missing out on the player that scores because you chose Silva over Dzeko.

That said, I'm not sure that Arteta will perform despite the fixtures.

Taarabt feels like this year's Kolarov - high potential to make fantasy waves, but also the possibility to do diddly squat.

The scout's wholehearted and unconditional support doesn't help matters, but we all know what Kolarov provided those faithful few that had him for 38-weeks last season.

I am debating between Taarby and SWP, having had the Moroccan since that start of the year and currently on my WC. It is a tough choice given Warnock's comments on SWP's free-role and the opportunity to finally fulfill his potential as arguably QPR's best player.

Having seen a few of SWP's performances in the pre-season and that all-mighty, thunderous goal he scored he has got the stuff. He also could be in for the assists should Taarby take-off

We also don't know for certain that Taarby is going to stay on pens and FKs.

I am at a loss, however I will let you know what I decide since whichever player I don't choose will go on to a hat-trick at the weekend.

To complete my reshuffled wildcard to fit in RVP and Rooney (NO suarez):

    A) Vorm, O Hara

    B) Begovic, Dyer + 0.5 in bank

    Other GK is Given. Thanks

The possible injury to Jarvis has seriously thrown a spanner in the works of my team! I really dont want to get rid of him. Ok I know if he does have an injury then his price will drop but I could always get him back in a few weeks.

So currently he sells for me for 6.1m and I have 1.2m in the bank so a grand total of 7.3m to spend ... BUT... I have Ferguson and Long! I am on my WC this week so any ideas?

Hmm Arteta 5th in the Captain poll. Do people think he'll have an immediate impact? He's never been a great goalscoring midfielder, but then he may flourish around better players.

    What are people's thoughts?

I could never bring myself to captain young Theo!

I'm looking at Lampard > Arteta so that I have some Arsenal cover, but reluctant to ditch Lamps just yet and besides I don't think Arteta or even Arsenal will score big this weekend.

Takes a brave man to say that with Swansea at home!

Theo is still the better bet. Per minute hes been the best fantasy player last season. Id never captain Arteta unless he gets Pen duty.

So to conclude get Van Persie!!! 😀

      a. Petrov's fixtures are kind, and Adebayor will start and should notch a few with the likes of Lennon, Bale and Modric assisting him.

Meireles is not a nailed on starter, and Holt plays for Norwich.

Bolton play Man U, Chelsea, and Arsenal in the next 4, so not that kind! But I see what you mean about upcoming fixtures.

Is Petrov nailed on, or do their new signings change things? (Kakuta, N'Gog)

Ahh for some reason I had it in mind Bolton's fixtures were good! Well Petrov's started the season well - 3 assists and played the full 90 in all 3 games. Coyle may have just brought in those players to bolster his squad but I'd still say Petrov is a sure-fire starter.
