The fourth round draw for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power, has been made today as promised, and can be viewed right here. Don’t get used to the luxury of almost two days notice however, as the next three gameweek’s are in quick succession. Survive that and your into the quarter-finals…

A look at round four first though, and first out of the hat is the tie between King Eric and Roger, with the latter holding a slender four point lead overall.

Last weeks top-scorer, and 62nd in the world, Ann_der_roo has top 4k opponent the Mozmeister. Ann_der_roo will be hoping to avoid going the way of our previous top-scorers, who have both already bitten the dust.

FFS Cup I champ donnellyc (sitting a modest 180k in the world) will once again be thanking the stars with a seemingly easy tie against 519,175th overall Manif.

Scout representative Granville will also be confident in winning his tie against Chris81, who is perhaps lucky to still be in the tournament after two red arrows on the bounce.

Elsewhere, Mark’s conqueror tippmann is still going strong and he faces livnal, Soup or Man has a tricky away tie against camdiggy, and Spooney takes on the infamous bill badger.

All ties to be played over GW11. As always the top-scorer in the round will receive a free £25 bet courtesy of sponsors Paddy Power.

Good luck to all 64 fantasy managers battling it out this weekend.

Sorry if some people disagree but i'm gonna put it out there.
Gareth Bale has had 3 good games (2 in the Champions league and 1 in the premier league) Why are some people on the telly dubbing him the best LM in the world? Yes, i agree he was top notch v Iter Milan in the two game and against Stoke but what else has he done?

I think he has the potential to be the best LM in the world, but I agree, it is slightly sensational to be labeling him "the best" just yet

Because they deal in hyperbole. Saying he's top 5 or 10 leftsided players on current form isn't good enough, you're either the best ever or useless.

However, saying he's had 3 good games is underselling him in a similar fashion...

I suppose like everyone else i'm in a bit of bother this wknd, my team
    foster (al habsi)
    Coleman simpson mummy (gohouri, jara)
    fabregas VDV nasri nani (Malouda)
    drogba varney berbatov

    what should i do
    - jara, malouda and prob nani def out
    - gohouri hasnt played in 3 games so dunno if he's fit
    - dont feel like selling nani and malouda given they are only goin to be out 1 game more than likely (lose money trying to get them bak)

    so
a)what changes should i make to maximise no's on pitch
b)what are chances of VDV and fab featuring at wknd

    cheers

I have a pretty clear opinion but what are people's thoughts on which is the better option going forward. Much appreciated.

    A) Malouda / Nasri / Berbatov / Alex

    or

    B) Fabregas / Arteta / Tevez / Simpson

Value is the only question here, if you are not losing much then do it otherwise won't be worth it with two extra transfers on him when he'll certainly be back for the city game and he has proven to be fixture proof.

Fair point; 2 transfers down alrite, and i like that 'fixture proof', which he is. A review is needed. I may well stick tranferwise this GW and through JoseE into the mix. The 2 freebies come Monday could be invaluable. Also, defences do seem to be settling down abit; could be worth pumping a few extra quid in there...

As an Arsenal fan this sickens me. His worst injuries usually come from him playing for Holland. Wenger is being very careful with him, and the dutch coach is willing to risk him despite it being a friendly and RVP being injury-prone (understatement of the year!!)

Keith, I found a draft of my post in my email. Hope this is useful:

At the start of the season, there were quite a few posts about teams that rotate home/away fixtures- very useful for deciding which pair of keepers to choose, and I'm coming back to the principle now. While checking the upcoming fixtures, I discovered to my horror that all of my planned defenders would be playing away in GW11 and all at home in GW12. This can't be ideal- I'd be fielding no homers in one week and having to bench one or two the next. So I took a look at when the home/away fixture groupings change, and found this...each week, when Group A is at home, Group B is away (and vice versa).

    GW11-14
Group A: ARS BIR BLA BLP BOL FUL LIV MUN SUN WBA
Group B: AVL CHE EVE MCY NEW STK TOT WHM WIG WOL

    GW15-18
Group A: AVL BOL EVE FUL MUN NEW STK TOT WHM WOL
Group B: ARS BIR BLA BLP CHE LIV MCY SUN WBA WIG

    GW19-24
Group A: ARS AVL BLA BLP BOL EVE FUL MUN NEW WOL
Group B: BIR CHE LIV MCY STK SUN TOT WBA WHM WIG

    GW25-28
Group A: ARS BIR BLA BLP BOL FUL LIV MUN SUN WBA
Group B: AVL CHE EVE MCY NEW STK TOT WHM WIG WOL

    GW29-30
Group A: ARS BIR BLP BOL FUL LIV MCY NEW WHM WOL
Group B: AVL BLA CHE EVE MUN STK SUN TOT WBA WIG

GW31-34 (careful here- the reversed Wigan v Blackpool fixture from earlier in the season occurs in GW33)
Group A: ARS BIR EVE FUL MCY NEW STK WBA WHM WIG
Group B: AVL BLA BLP BOL CHE LIV MUN SUN TOT WOL

    GW35-38
Group A: ARS BIR BLA BLP CHE LIV MCY SUN WBA WIG
Group B: AVL BOL EVE FUL MUN NEW STK TOT WHM WOL

So how is this useful? Say you play 3 defenders each week (most of us do), and you have one big team, undroppable defender, then that leaves you 4 slots to fill. You then choose two defenders from group A and two from group B for each of the periods, leaving you with two home defenders and one big name to field each week. This means that you only have to consider any transfers in your defence when you approach a new period (suspensions and injuries notwithstanding, of course).

Now this doesn't mean you need to make 4 transfers in defence for each period...if you want to keep hold of Elmo, for example, then he will be one of your Group A in GW11-14, one of Group B in GW15-18 and so on. Once you start removing clubs you aren't interested in (maybe the defenders are too expensive or clean sheets too unpredictable) you can go back to the ticker and see how many of the home fixtures of each club left is actually attractive during that period.

Frankiefernandez likes this! Did you research that yourself from the fixtures? If so, good work! Might nab this for my own use 🙂

Of course, it's not foolproof - this week, for example, my Liverpool and West Brom defenders are both at home, which in theory should be good, but Liverpool play Chelsea and Jara is suspended (and they're playing Man City).

Yeah, it was quite easy to do. I just put the fixtures in excel and put a 1 in a column next to every team who played at home in a certain week and sorted in order. Then you can easily see the two groups and how long before they change. And you do need to check fixtures...but it's quite useful to see the fixtures broken up into chunks.

90 mins away in Europe midweek. Manc derby away next midweek.
It is not often SAF starts Berb 3 games in a week.

Considering he is pretty much our main striker by default and fergie doesn't really have any other option but to play them both against wolves but he may be taken off early though. But I definitely see starting all the games by default, obviously!

Yeah, fergie got that wrong and went for the far more 'penetrative' Macheda then which was a big mistake he wud've learned from that by now and just go with berbs and chico upfront.

Sorry to have to throw this out again...

    Ferguson (BIR) for a consistent 2/3 - 5/6 pts a week
    or
Barton for his potential threat with assists and an odd goal

The position in my team will have either one feature as first sub mainly (although with injuries now they may play more of a role)..

I am leaning towards Barton although his collection of yellows means he's due a suspension soon...

Perhaps Ferguson at home to the Hammers (BPs!) and then to Barton later as he has Arsenal next...

Well..Bolton at home...Elmander better away it seems...
      Yakubu at Blackpool...hmmm...good potential...
Bent at home to Stoke after the hiding they received...and they are better at home...and he seems to still knick goals against any ol' opponent...

I'd say Bent...with Elmander a close second...but you could tell that by how long my comments were for each...haha...

Baines (Everton)...hmmm...has set piece duty, clean sheet potential and previously noted been just as good as Cashley but short on clean sheets early on...he is a very choose-able choice...Between him and Bent...Dempsey a long-shot I reckon...Arshavin not consistent yet...and rotation risk...

Bent by a whisker as he has penalty duties too...no wait...Baines by a whisker..wait..um...dang! it's between those 2...my head just popped!

Hahah. Bent or Bains. It's tough, bains has a great run of games coming up vs teams that they should draw with or beat.

Bent, on the other hand, has stoke this week and tottenham next week. He destroyed tottenham last year and he should still be fired up to play them again this year, after he missed two penalties but scored 2 goals last time

            going to go bent..thanks!

Yes. He will be rested and ready to push on for the 2nd half of the season.
      Only problems are:
      * He is expensive ( a legacy of last season's form)
      * He missed his last penalty (Drog will now snatch the ball off him if the ref gives a pen)

I am thinking to switch Malouda and a defender ( Alcaraz or Mummy ) and buying in Arteta and a def ( mummy = A.Cole or Acaraz = Terry or Vidic ( +0.4 in bank to do Chamack > Bent or something else). Team should be linked.
