There were no new victims over the weekend, and no red cards either, but the Suspension Tightrope sleeps for no man, and, after a flurry of cards, it duly snapped up a glut of unwilling funambulists to head into Gameweek 8.

Villa’s Ciaran Clark, Sunderland centre-half Seb Coates and Leicester left-back Jeffrey Schlupp all survived the week unscathed, though the former pair’s causes were helped by the fact they were both unused subs for respective clashes with Liverpool and Man United.

That trio were joined by four new protagonists, who all picked up their fourth cautions of the season in the Gameweek 7 match ups.

The first couple were served up in an action-packed lunchtime clash at White Hart Lane, as Spurs overcame table toppers City with an energetic display that saw five of their front six players booked once they took the lead in the second-half. Goalscorer Eric Dier and his centre midfield partner Dele Alli took their tallies to four for the season for fouls on Fernandinho and Patrick Roberts respectively. Dier has already been drafted in by over 42,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers since the weekend, making him the fourth more sought-after player of the Gameweek.

Next to don the soft shoes and prepare for an acrobatic stint was Sunderland’s Billy Jones. The right-back is no stranger to these parts, with eight bookings in two of the last three seasons, and at least four cards in all of the last five years, despite his failure to secure a regular role at West Brom or Sunderland in that time. Jones scythed down Memphis Depay to earn himself a first taste of the ’15/16 Tightrope.

Finally, the seventh of the current crop of Tightrope walkers – and perhaps one of the most familiar faces of recent times – was Newcastle’s Jack Colback. The combative midfielder joined the party after a first-half booking picked up for a foul on Loic Remy. Fortunately for Jack, injury interrupted his second-half, so he’ll have to wait until at least next week to see if he can add to his growing collection of cards.

True fans of the Tightrope will be more than aware of Colback’s “previous”. Nurtured under the wing of Lee Cattermole at Sunderland, the ginger-haired battler learned quickly from his mentor, picking up a single card in his debut season, upgrading that to three bookings the next term, then five in ’12/13 and seven in his final season with Cattermole on Wearside. A switch to neighbours Newcastle saw Colback blossom into a full-scale disciplinary menace and, in ’14/15, he duly upped his output to 12 cautions – a total bettered only by former team-mate Cattermole (14) last time out. Four cards in just under 650 minutes this season is no surprise, and puts him high on the list of those expected to fall into a ban in his next outing.

Below those players, there are 16 faces currently sitting on three yellows. Branislav Ivanovic, Jose Fonte, Oriol Romeu, Jonjo Shelvey, Yohan Cabaye and Erik Lamela are the new names, having collected a third caution of the campaign over the last two days.

There are no newly-suspended players so far this week, with only tomorrow’s Hawthorns clash between West Brom and Everton remaining.

Arsenal’s Gabriel is available for selection again, having served a one-match ban in yesterday’s 5-2 win at Leicester. Three players still remain suspended for Gameweek 8. Diego Costa, Kevin Mirallas and Valon Behrami all serve the last of three-bans against Southampton, Liverpool and Bournemouth respectively.

A -4 would give me this.
    Gomis - Sturridge
    Ayew -> 4.3
    McCartney -> Hennesey.

    Myhill - Hennesey
    Sagna - Darmian - Dawson - Richards - Martin
    Sanchez - Yaya - Payet - Mahrez- 4.3
    Aguero - Sturridge - Diouf.

That's not too bad is it?

Sakho-mon Vs Vardy-ola, AKA, Doubling up on Leicester VS Doubling up on West Ham (since most already of us have Mahrez and Payet)

    - Form: Both played well this gw, Vardy had more chances but sakho made very good runs.
    - Fixtures:
Vardy: nor, sot, CPL, wba, WAT, new
Sakho: sun, cpl, CHE, wat, EVE, tot

so both with only 2 home games in the next 6, if we subtract the common CPL and WAT matches, we get:
    Vardy: nor, sot, wba, new
Sakho: sun, CHE , EVE, tot

Sakho has sunderland next which is a huge plus for him, but Vardy's fixtures look a bit better overall, but again west ham beat arsenal, liv and city...

    - Price: Not really a difference, just 0.2

So it all comes down mostly to which team will keep pushing forward, which team will continue to have high spirits and work for a decent position instead of where they finished last season, which team will have more motivation and not tire down and take the games lightly.
West ham on paper should be the bigger club and finish in a higher position, esp. since they spent big on payet and are looking to finish top 4(too ambitious imo), but Rannieri's Leicester and their beautiful football can change the paper calculations.
Overall, Leicester have been more consistent than West ham, but the hammers have been way better against the big clubs.
Sorry for making this too long, waiting to hear your opinions.

Payet for me is the best West Ham FPL player to have.

Anybody else considering rotating Pelle & Ighalo in a 3-5-2?
Pelle seems to score all his points at home while Watford and Ighalo appear to be much more likely to score away from home.

Over the next 9 weeks the rotation would give you:
    Pelle: LEI BOU STO VIL
Ighalo: bou sto lei vil sun

They don't have a creative force in the side.

Either a fleet footed winger or no.10 or a metronome type centre midfielder.

They won't have enough ball in games, the won't be in the final third much or penalty box relative to other sides. And when they are it won't be quality play.

If that is the case I will just get Vardy and play him every week. Watford have scored 2 away at Everton & 2 away at Newcastle, and blanked away to Man City. I haven't watched any of these games, but is that down to their ability to counter attack well?

It would mean downgrading one of my mids. Eg Sanchez to Pedro or Ayew to Hoolahan. It would be much simpler for me to just swap Wilson to Vardy & play him every week. Still.... those fixtures do tempt me.

Fantrax draft league that starts each season during 2nd international break about to start this Sunday after the games.

20 team "man's league" with 3 divisions. Now filling spots for 3rd division. Promotion and relegation between divisions as well as a Champion's League are in the format.

This is a "slow draft" to accommodate everyone around the world joining, and draft typically takes up about 10 days of the international break.

Active managers who will continue to use free agency and trading throughout the season are sought.

How does this work regarding player prices and squad values?

      1. Heels_Over_Head
        • 12 Years
        10 years, 3 months ago

There are no player prices. Each player can only be owned by one manager. Different type of game.

        For example

Firstguy picks Aguero. No one else can own Aguero. Aguero is his for the season unless he trades him with another manager.

Secondguy picks Hazard. Same as above.

Last season's winner of the 1st division picked Kane in the 11th round with the last draft pick.

Last season's second place finisher in 2nd division got Kane as a free agent two weeks after the draft (free agents are the pool of players not owned by any manager).

Anyway, send me your email and I'll get you the invitation from Fantrax later today, within 12 hours.

    B. Yaya --- Hoolahan and save 3.1 mln

    or maybe no hit

    C. Gestede
    D. Ighalo
    E. Jerome (total punt)

Coutinho got me points all right, but no way Iam holding out on KDB with those fixtures.

Form and fixtures are an issue here. Got to keep the faith in Aguero surely.

      Not yet convinced with Pool.
Anybody can score against that Villa defence right now.

If they convince me, I'd go with both.

It's not about Pool anymore, its about man himself, his movement and skill create chances on them own

Decided to activate my Wildcard, a couple of changes made thanks to suggestions from the guys on here:

    Myhill / Gomes
    Kolarov / Bellerin / Dier / Williams / Francis
    Sanchez / Mata / Payet / Mahrez / Westwood
    Aguero / Pelle / Vardy

    Look ok?

    Cheers

Yeah I know, I see what you mean but I feel a little extra spent in defence is worth it in the long run.

none on my head right now, but u'd want to look for fixtures where ur defense is week without francis, this will tell u that u want a defender with good fuxtures on gw's x,y and z so it's easy then to choose that 5th defender.
I wouldn't sweat on it though as u already have bellerin and koralov and u'd want to play them almost every match because of their offensive play and goal scoring/assist abilities

Having Vardy and Mahrez is a bit too much IMO.

Maybe Vardy to Sakho and buy other inform Midprice MF like Ayew to replace Payet

Plus Sinclair/Hoolahan offer a better threat as a 5th MF, if you have the extra 5.0

I disagree, whenever Leicester scores you can expect one of them to be involved, if not both

V & M is a false double up. M is a tactical due to ownership & V is the form forward.

    Pedro + Gomis ->> Mata + Pelle

Do it before price drop of Gomis and price rise for Mata ?

Fixtures are not easy, but they have form and highly involved in the attacks.
Pedro & Gomis actually have better fixtures, but they haven't consistently delivered.

    Front 8 now:
    Pedro - Yaya* - Mahrez - Sanchez - Payet
    Gomis - Aguero - Vardy

Is Joe Gomez certain to go down 0.1 this week?

Which one should I take out with my 1 FT?

    A) Gomez
    B) Gomis

I'm thinking the one who is not playing but Gomis is dropping fast
