There were no new victims over the weekend, and no red cards either, but the Suspension Tightrope sleeps for no man, and, after a flurry of cards, it duly snapped up a glut of unwilling funambulists to head into Gameweek 8.

Villa’s Ciaran Clark, Sunderland centre-half Seb Coates and Leicester left-back Jeffrey Schlupp all survived the week unscathed, though the former pair’s causes were helped by the fact they were both unused subs for respective clashes with Liverpool and Man United.

That trio were joined by four new protagonists, who all picked up their fourth cautions of the season in the Gameweek 7 match ups.

The first couple were served up in an action-packed lunchtime clash at White Hart Lane, as Spurs overcame table toppers City with an energetic display that saw five of their front six players booked once they took the lead in the second-half. Goalscorer Eric Dier and his centre midfield partner Dele Alli took their tallies to four for the season for fouls on Fernandinho and Patrick Roberts respectively. Dier has already been drafted in by over 42,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers since the weekend, making him the fourth more sought-after player of the Gameweek.

Next to don the soft shoes and prepare for an acrobatic stint was Sunderland’s Billy Jones. The right-back is no stranger to these parts, with eight bookings in two of the last three seasons, and at least four cards in all of the last five years, despite his failure to secure a regular role at West Brom or Sunderland in that time. Jones scythed down Memphis Depay to earn himself a first taste of the ’15/16 Tightrope.

Finally, the seventh of the current crop of Tightrope walkers – and perhaps one of the most familiar faces of recent times – was Newcastle’s Jack Colback. The combative midfielder joined the party after a first-half booking picked up for a foul on Loic Remy. Fortunately for Jack, injury interrupted his second-half, so he’ll have to wait until at least next week to see if he can add to his growing collection of cards.

True fans of the Tightrope will be more than aware of Colback’s “previous”. Nurtured under the wing of Lee Cattermole at Sunderland, the ginger-haired battler learned quickly from his mentor, picking up a single card in his debut season, upgrading that to three bookings the next term, then five in ’12/13 and seven in his final season with Cattermole on Wearside. A switch to neighbours Newcastle saw Colback blossom into a full-scale disciplinary menace and, in ’14/15, he duly upped his output to 12 cautions – a total bettered only by former team-mate Cattermole (14) last time out. Four cards in just under 650 minutes this season is no surprise, and puts him high on the list of those expected to fall into a ban in his next outing.

Below those players, there are 16 faces currently sitting on three yellows. Branislav Ivanovic, Jose Fonte, Oriol Romeu, Jonjo Shelvey, Yohan Cabaye and Erik Lamela are the new names, having collected a third caution of the campaign over the last two days.

There are no newly-suspended players so far this week, with only tomorrow’s Hawthorns clash between West Brom and Everton remaining.

Arsenal’s Gabriel is available for selection again, having served a one-match ban in yesterday’s 5-2 win at Leicester. Three players still remain suspended for Gameweek 8. Diego Costa, Kevin Mirallas and Valon Behrami all serve the last of three-bans against Southampton, Liverpool and Bournemouth respectively.

              If Yaya is out for a while, it will be easy choice.
              I think you can wait for City press.

              If you have Aguero and no other Chelsea like me, I'm leaning to sell Yaya.

    Currently stuck perma-playing 2 point wonderboy Ruddy & perma-benching Gomez+Huth, until I WC in Gw11/12. My questionable defense = Ruuddy / Kolarov, Bellerin, Cedric, Gomez, Huth

    Best bet for a hit?
    A) Ruddy/Rudd --> Myhill
    B) Gomez --> Wba/Spurs
    C) Sterling --> KDB
    D) Two of the above for -8

    looking at playing the wildcard.. looking at making the switch from A to B (with CAPS players those I'm bringing in), to both up my team value and also because I feel this is the team to own right now with form and fixtures..

    A) butland / schmeichel
    azpi / kolarov / bellerin / francis / evans
    ozil / yaya / mahrez / ayew / redmond
    martial / aguero / wilson

    B) MYHILL / HOWARD
    azpi / kolarov / bellerin / DIER / MARTIN
    SANCHEZ / DE BRUYNE / mahrez / PAYET / TADIC
    martial / VARDY / SAKHO

    the only issue i currently have is that there are no 'heavy-hitting' attackers in my wildcard team. to counter this, I would downgrade one of sanchez or kdb (depending on form obviously). let me know your thoughts on this and if you'd make any further changes.

      So if Kun scores well against Newcastle you are happy to still go without him? You are gtg if thats the case,if you would desperately want him back and take a hit to do it? Definitely not worth it imo

    I know this is a very ambiguous question but what is everyones thoughts regarding KBD when Silva returns this week? What position and game time will he get?

      I doubt he will be dropped after his performances. His space might be a little intetwined with silva but I assume he will still be effective, hard to know until they both play though.

    Some help here please would be appreciated. I'm pooped as to what to do.

    Boruc, McCarthy
    Kolorov, Zouma, Evans, Janmaat, Morgan
    Sanchez, Hazard, Yaya, Mahrez, Westwood
    Aguero, Gomis, Wilson

    1ft 0itb

      from what I heard Wilson should be out for quite a long time, thus this should be your priority
      Get diouf or sakho or vardy

        Yeah this is the problem I have 0itb so only have 5.6 so can't afford any of them. I have not taken a hit yet this season either and would rather not. This leaves me with Ighalo, Bojan and Ayoze as options

          I don't know abt gomis but i remember someone talking abt an injury he had ?
          check that out, u can transfer the both out for 2 of the 3 I mentioned

            He just came off at HT because he was playing poor is what I heard. Even doing them two out for a hit I still couldn't afford 2 of those 3

              then either get ighalo, Or downgrade a midfielder to Payet or mane for example.
              lots of people are going with ighalo, u might wanna give him a try if u dont want to change any mids nor get a hit

          Its early in the season, the new folk will come to terms with how the DZ is supposed to function in due course. Others will fall away as the season goes as well so it will get less busy. I find midweek is the best time to post

            Nice man! Studying there now?

            Good thanks, was sitting at 40K with WC in hand prior to this week, this week was a bit of a shocker though with no Alexis, not around the 100K mark. You?

              Aye, studying & working 🙂

              😯 Holy hell Nick, that's a great rank man! I'm sure getting Alexis is no problem now though, right? I've been on a downward spiral since I sold Sakho + Mane for Wilson & Ayew 😆 Gone from 500k to 900k

                Nice 🙂

                Haha thanks mate. Starting with Mahrez certainly helped, as did sticking with Mane and getting Payet in GW2.

                Haha unlucky, I had a shocker similar to that two weeks ago. Sold Sakho before mci to Gomis (EVE), couldn't ignore his form. Sakho goes on to get two goals in two and gomis gets three FPL points in two games and a couple of nice price drops to go with it 😀

                  Great call on Mahrez, I remember you advocating him in the summer. Fantastic moves, goes to show how getting on early season bandwagons is a great tactic.

                  Ooof, that's bad luck, 'tis the season I guess 😉

                    Haha thanks mate. I was so close for going Fabregas + Chadli over Hazard + Mahrez to start with too, which would have been disastrous haha.

                    Indeed, not every trannie can be a good one!

                As for getting Alexis, I might have to go without as my midfield is currently:

                KdB, Payet, Mahrez, Mane, Fletcher. Don't want to sell any of them, really!
