Sunday is a low-key affair this Gameweek, with Newcastleโ€™s home tie against Norwich City serving as the solitary fixture for Fantasy managers to absorb. The Magpies โ€“ who were systematically dismantled by Man City last time out โ€“ are still in pursuit of their maiden victory this campaign, while the Canaries recorded just one win in their last six outings.

The Toon are floundering in all facets of the game this term, yet a paucity of goal threat remains their most glaring deficiency: Newcastle rank rock bottom for goals (six), attempts (67), shots inside the box (38) and shot on target (23). Theyโ€™ve improved a little over the last three Gameweeks, though, bagging four goals and placing in the middle of the pack for shots on target (14).

Alex Neilโ€™s men scored in all but one fixture through the first eight Gameweeks, but their rearguard has been penetrated with ease of late: Norwich have conceded a whopping 13 more shots inside the box (65) and two more big chances (15) than any team since Gameweek 4. Moreover, theyโ€™re one of three sides not to register a single shut-out, which bodes well for Newcastleโ€™s attacking prospects.

My first email to fpl , I only asked about Sagna but got answers to all 3 debatable points decision

    FYI all

Please find below an answer to your query relating to the awarding points for this current set of fixtures (GW9).

    1. OPTA, who provide us with all our stats, have decided that Cédric, the Southampton defender, played 59 minutes against Leicester before being substituted, meaning that he was not eligible for the clean sheet bonus, as he did not play 60 minutes. This won't now be changed.

    2. Pelle has not been awarded an assist for Southampton's second goal in the same game. This is because after Pelle's header hit the post, van Dijk then hit the woodwork himself, before scoring from the rebound. If van Dijk had scored directly after the first rebound then an assist would have been awarded to Pelle, but the fact that van Dijk hit the post himself before he scored meant that Pelle's effort was no longer a direct assist.

    3. In Manchester City's game against Bournemouth, Sagna has not been awarded an assist for City's second goal, based on this section from the rules: 'If an opposing player touches the ball after the final pass before a goal is scored, significantly altering the intended destination of the ball, then no assist is awarded.' As the Bournemouth goalkeeper spilt the ball, this counted as a 'significant' alteration of the movement of the ball, before the goal was scored.

I still think my Sagna assist should be given as keeper spilt the ball because it was a tricky good cross and he never had control of it , but cest la vie

Basically a few of us start in GW2 and try to catch all the GW1 starters before the end of the season. If at any update one of the hunters is ahead of them they get removed from the league. The winners are the people who are ahead at GW38.
I only got around 100 people to play this year but will try to get more interested next year. This is my team this week ๐Ÿ™‚

Right I am losing serious ground on the leaders of my mini league, its time for a wildcard

Some transfers I am considering are:

Mahrez to Cabaye (purely because similar price and concerned about Mahrez's minutes)
    Hazard to Sanchez (pretty standard)
Kolarov to bellerin (frees up a little bit of money and Kol is injured, albeit not for very long)

Also, I have Ozil and don't want to get rid because of his constant assists but think it may be a place used better elsewhere if I am going to have Sanchez.

My defence is going to have a total change around, Huth gotta go, O'Shea gotta go!

Depending on the Mahrez situation, Wij, Barkley & a Palace mid could all make a good case as a 4/5th mid.

Wij, better immediate fixtures - (STK, bou, LEI, cry, LIV, tot, AVL, EVE)

Barkley, long tem - (SUN, whm, AVL, bou, CRY, nor, LEI, new, STK, TOT)

Palace, Gw13 onward - (SUN, NEW, eve, SOU, stk, bou, SWA, CHE, avl)

    Pretty good prospects here IMO.

If I've got the money I'll be having a look but it could be Wanyama calling

That's also a better long term move as it eases your team's structure transition from sans-Aguero to pro-Aguero. Yet, I'd still be 2 FT's away when the time comes, but then again perhaps it'd be better to give Aguero a week extra. Rarely does he show that killer instinct immidiately following an injury
