The concept of a player being fixture proof in Fantasy football is a much discussed topic around these parts. Wayne Rooney put forward a strong case a few gameweeks back, defying United’s tricky opening to the season with a points tally that left all but Sergio Aguero in his wake. Today, Robin Van Persie perhaps presented even stronger evidence that, when a player has talent and form, no opposition can stand in their way.

Van Persie is certainly a force of nature right now. Seven goals in his last three games have propelled him to the top of every Fantasy manager’s most wanted list. The Dutchman, along with Rooney and Aguero, have all enjoyed devastating spells of form this season. Any Fantasy manager who has failed to catch at least one of them, surely finds themselves floundering.

Ironically, it’s Wayne Rooney who has been hugely overshadowed by Van Persie’s recent returns. Today at Goodison, Rooney dropped alarmingly deep, as Alex Ferguson charged Danny Welback and Javier Hernandez to push on. In Fantasy terms, certainly as far as our own ICT Index is concerned, Rooney suffered his least effective 90 minutes of the season – the numbers are there – our Members can see for themselves.

Van Persie meanwhile, made a mockery of the fixture list which told us that a trip to Chelsea would pose him problems; that perhaps he couldn’t maintain his recent form at Stamford Bridge. Friday night’s decision to go with Van Persie over Sergio Aguero in the Scout Picks wasn’t taken lightly. We suspected that the Chelsea defence would be unable to keep the Dutchman at bay. Nobody could have predicted the havoc he would cause, the delicious end product he would deliver.

In three games, Van Persie has returned 36 Fantasy Premier League points – a tally that will surely increase with bonus points on Monday and perhaps the award of an assist for Theo Walcott’s goal. In contrast, Rooney has produced 5 points over the same three gameweeks. When you throw in the captaincy, that’s a big swing and painful reading for those who held Rooney with faith that his undoubted talent and early season form would see him through.

Conveniently, then, that takes us full circle. While Van Persie has done so much today to prove the theory that, with class and form, the opposition is irrelevant, Rooney’s recent returns present strong evidence of the contrary. The matches against Liverpool, City and Everton looked tough for Rooney- five points is certainly proof of that. Another twist in what is rapidly becoming a fascinating Fantasy season.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

That could still turn out to be sweet if TOT & STO work out. Mata should get 2 BPs i guess.

I've got 40 with VDV (C) & ShawX to come. I removed Mata for Silva last GW. Well, still banking on nani to repay my faith in him next week.

Not that I think he isnt a good pick, but he didnt play well yesterday at all.
Mainly came down to Nani and Sturridge or RVP and Ramsey.

Depends on when he bought those guys, ie. if he's had STaylor since GW1, technically he's a cheapie as he only cost 4.5m back then.

Stoke are one of the best bets for clean sheets, so getting one of their defenders in is probably the go here.

Same with me. I think it's a question of knowing when to cut your cash cows loose, before they start decreasing in price and losing your profit.

Ditched Bos last week and have that option with STaylor if someone cheaper comes along.

      Kompany or Shawx.

But Kompany banned for the QPR game and Shawx away to Bolton after European tie so I'd leave Bosingwa in for next week as he may get some attacking points against Blackburn.

Samba is a pointless pick as you have to hope he scores every week as BLA are incapable of keeping clean sheets.

Walker defies rule number 1 of FPL which is never get a Spuds defender.

Warnock you will want to get rid of by GW12 as Villa's fixtures get nasty from then on for about 2 months solid (check out GW's 14-19 and tell me how many times you will want to play a Villa defender during that spell).

Wilkinson is OK but I'd worry about his long term security in Stoke's defence so I'd be wary of picking someone that you may well have to be looking at replacing in a few GWs time.

Can somebody please reassure me that my team doesn't completely suck....

    28 POINTS from this lot....

    Vorm (Krul)
    Bosingwa Kompany Enrique (Simpson, Briggs)
    N.Dyer Nani VDV Silva (Ramsey)
    Adebayor Sturridge Aguero

my biggest downfall this season has been my timing of my trades, i missed the most-part of the Rooney wave at the start of the year, everytime i've traded in Aguero he's done nothing, and now RVP 🙁
    Very fed up!

Yeah i kinda got stuck with Sturridge as i traded him in last week for the disastrous QPR game.
Last two seasons i've really enjoyed playing FPL, i'd wake up to check the results and usually score well. I finished 1st in all my leagues last two years, this year i'm 140 points behind and every week is just a source of misery!

Thinking just do Kompany->Lescot this weekend?
        Sturridge vs Blackburn
        Aguero vs QPR
        Adebayor vs Fulham

I'd like RVP, but getting him in will be difficult and will cost more points, and if he is in my team he will more than likely break his leg.

Sturridge is still the cheapest way of getting one of Chelsea's attacking players into your team though.

Unless you can afford Mata or Lampard I'd be inclined to keep him. He was unlucky to be denied by an assistant's flag yesterday and I'd expect him to score against a Blackburn side that cannot shut anyone out these days.

Think they are concerned that if they go down they would be left with a huge debt and a lack of attendance, that's what the tour guide said...

Kompany to Lescott or Richards is a sensible pick as they're all pretty much nailed on to start the EPL games now for Man City.

So, he can just keep whichever one of those two he swaps for Kompany.

ramsey doesnt seem worth it, as too many arsenal players get into the mix. I like having 1/2 major contributor from each team such as:
            Arsenal- RVP
            City- Aguero/ Kompany
            Spurs- VDV/Adebayor
            Stoke- Walters
            WBA- Brunt
            Sunderland- Sessegnon

Arsenal or MU looks nice for the next few gameweeks. I'd go for Ramsey cos he's more attacking than Arteta. MU I would've gone for Cleverley but dunno if he's gonna be injured for next week.

Strictly lookin at next week though, I'd gamble on one of the Man City midfielders not named Silva and Nasri. Maybe Milner.

Assisted or scored 5 times in his last 5 and was unlucky not to get an assist or 2 yesterday, at 6.5 and with those fixtures he has I think he is well worth it.
Him and RVP will easily be our main contributors..more so than Aguero for City for example..

If you have a wildcard now would be a good time to use it.

Your defence needs sorting out (your last 3 defs noted are a disaster area) and you could do with sorting out your MF too.

You don't need both VdV and Aebayor, one is enough and you have no Man Utd or Chelsea attacking cover.

Well tbh, most cheap def. are disastrous most of the times. Im happy with my mids other than arteta, and adebayor AND vdv are both on form right now so dont see the reason why not to keep both.

I recently switched in Aguero for Rooney this week, not sure whether to switch back.

Adn chelsea have too many people that can contribute/score such as lamp, ramires, mata, sturridge, anelka+torres(at times) etc..

Not all cheap defenders are disastrous. One of your expensive ones is though and at least get cheapies who play.

Why double up on Wolves defence?

You have 1 big hitter in MF and, in most of our opinions on here, going without Silva this season is the equivalent of FPL suicide.

End of the day its your team and you pick who you want but why come here asking people for advice and then, when you get an honest appraisal of your team, turn around and start defending every player you have?

If you're happy with it then just go and waste more points transferring Aguero back in for Rooney, only to change your mind again midweek again for all I care.

Play Simpson instead of Naylor-wouldn't want to double up on Swansea defence at Anfield unless I had to. (At the moment I have to as Kompany is suspended and my only other choice is McAuley, who faces a rampant Arsenal).

ur killing urself with having fox in ur midfield, no contribution. Would get rid of one of the big 3 and get 2 players that are solid for their team such as:

          Walters

well my logic at the time of fox's transfer was that he made many key passes for norwich and tot he would constantly bring in some assist points. will keep him for 1 more week and see how he plays then imma ship him out with the 2 saved transfers. thanks for the advice there 😀

It does work I guess, bit unsure about Hern tho. Will he play every week? I put him in a couple weeks ago, got some points then ditched him, so was kind of lucky with the timings I guess. Try not to knee jerk. I have Suarez, and he is due to go on a run as he hasn't yet. Dont be put off by his GW12/13 fixtures, people worries about RVP and look what happened!!!

Morning guys, need some advice. Had a good week this week (58) but I need a longer term strategy to sure up my midfield:

    Vorm (Hennessey)
    Enrique-Kompany-Simpson-ShawX-DeLaet
    Mata-VDV-B.Johnson-N.Dyer-Anderson
    Aguero-RVP-Suarez

I'm unsure whether it is necessary to have ManU coverage (Nani-Young-Roon) and I really need to oust Anderson and N.Dyer. I'm thinking of getting rid of Kompany - I think defensive returns are not there this year to be honest

Any help guys! Cheers in advance

i think city will retain their fair share of clean sheets, hold on to kompany. Also, not to keen on mata, id rather have silva tbh city have been on fire and everything goes through him. Also might want to consider nani for gw11 as united might have a blow out vs sunderland.

So hard to juggle the cash tho. Hmmmmm. I'm happy to hand on to Mata for now, as you say re Silva, everything Chelsea do goes through him. I need Nani. Can't get him to GW12 tho only 1 freebie this week. But then who to ditch! May need to ditch Mata afterall. Anderson and Mata >> Nani and ....?

I've gotten a lot of points from defence since I started so that's not entirely true. It's just hard to get the right mix. Think MU coverage is necessary but for midfield maybe a Wolves or Stoke midfielder if you don't want Anderson.

Only if Woodgate plays though, which is a doubt.

Tons of variables makes it either an easy win for you are a narrow victory for me.

Which are the best two defenders to have with three cheap ones for long term. I don't want to keep making transfers in defence. My team ATM is

    Vorm Given
    Bosingwa Enrique Shawcross Naylor Simpson
    Silva VDV Ramsey MPetrov BJohnson
    Sturridge RVP Rooney

My original plan was Enrique out for 4m defender (probably Wilkinson or McAuley)
and 2 weeks later Shawcross out for Kompany or Richards

But now I am thinking maybe lose Bosingwa after the Blackburn game and keep 1 of Enrique or Shawcross with Kompany or Richards.

I would really appreciate some advice

I think Kompany, ShawX and Enrique is a good mix. All are nailed on, should keep a fair amount of CS, Enrique will drop in with the odd assist (got a cracking left foot) with Komps and ShawX nodding the odd set piece home too.

I was gonna drop to 3 cheap ones though and re-invest a bit of cash in the front line. Maybe if I get in Wilklinson for Bosingwa and then Shawcross out for Kompany.

Looking forwards to the next weekend and thinking of two possible areas for improvement.

1: upgrade Bendtner to Sturridge >>> But Bendtner will have a good run from Gw12-14
2: trade De Laet for Wilkinson >>> But Stoke will have Europa game in mid-week
3: no trade .. is this the best set i can have from my 15 players?

    Krul (EVE)
Simpson (EVE) - Richards (qpr) - Naylor (liv)
VDV (ful) - Mata (bla) - Nani (SUN) - Silva (qpr)
RVP (WBA) - Adebayor (ful) - Bendtner (mun)

Sub: Vorm (liv) , N.Dyer (liv) , Brown (mun) , De Laet (avl)

I have to find away of getting Bendy in after the united game , good fixtures and decent form.

RVP and Ade are unsellable so looks like Sturridge may have to be sold after week 11.

He does seem to be sacrificed if anything is going wrong for chelsea where as Bendy gets the full 90 most games and with good form and good fixtures from week 12 I hope its a good move.
