Fantasy Football Scout are pleased to announce the eagerly-awaited return of the Paddy Power Cup. The fifth instalment of the open-to-all free-to-enter cup competition is back, with some fantastic prizes to boot. Your chance to join our previous winners – donnellyc, Jonty, Goonerdave and Ninja_Fit_Saints – in our hall of fame starts now. For full details read on…

What is the Paddy Power Cup?

The Paddy Power Cup is our version of the Fantasy Premier League’s (FPL) Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the Manager with highest in the overall standing will progress.

How do I enter?

As with the Members Paddy Power Cup, entry for the competition is simple, just follow this link and fill out the form as required. A confirmation email will be sent shortly after you’ve submitted your details to acknowledge your entry has been received. Just like the FPL, multiple entries to the Cup are not permitted. Please ensure that you enter your FPL Team Id details correctly, any entries added incorrectly will not be entered into the qualifying round.

This cup is open to Members and Non-Members alike. A seperate Members only Cup will follow early in the New Year.

When does it start?

All entries received before the Gameweek 12 deadline will be entered into the qualifying round. In this first cup competition we will have 1024 qualifiers for the first round – those 1024 managers with the top scores in gameweek 12 will progress to the first round proper which will be played in gameweek 13. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying round will be published around 24-hours after gameweek 12 has been completed and the draw for the first round will then follow.

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each gameweek deadline.

Are there prizes?

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

  • Winner – £150 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
  • Runner-up – £75 worth of free bets. £30 Amazon Voucher
  • 3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £20 Amazon Voucher

Entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 and over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions.

If you’ve yet to register a Paddy Power account, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10.

If you’re going to bet with Paddy Power, always gamble responsibly.

    WC Team 9.0

    Vorm/Krul
    Baines/Walker/Naylor/Wilkinson/Mcauley
    Silva/Bale/Walters/Sessegnon/Allen
    Rvp/Rooney/Dzeko

    Who's missing??

I just think Jagielka at 5.3m is much better value than Baines and that would help your defence / upgrade a midfielder ...

A lot of people on here like Baines but I think the above is a good example of how he cripples your team

I know, that is another option
I would probably do mcauley to Brown aswell, leaving 2.1 to upgrade Allen to eagles and keep VDV instead of Bale?

    Vorm/Given
    Woodgate Kompany Ward (Simpson, Barnett)
    VDV Silva Moses Dyer (Tiote)
    Suarez Rooney RVP

I have two free transfers, what should I do.

Before suarez scored 4 goals with Uraguay and VDV strained his hammy.
I was thinking Suarez out Sturridge in/Bendtner in ................Tiote out Drenthe in

Now I am at a loss, your help would be appreciated!

Suarez at Liverpool < Suarez for Uruaguay
I have worries about Silva though as cant see him back in manchester till Thursday, so will he play on Sat?? I suppose he is a season keeper though?
maybe Given is more of a priority?
Would Westwood in allow Tiote to Drenthe still??

No only .2 in the bank. Plus If i downgraded Given it would be to KRUL as Westwood is only worth a punt for short term.

Is it worth me taking a 4 point hit to replace Nasri with Silva this GW?

I know, SIlva is where I really messed my team up this year. Had him captain the first week vs Swansea and took him out as my first transfer as I thought Yaya would get similar points and free up some cash >_<

Yes. Yes. And yes again. I had Nasri over Silva for weeks and waited, and waited, and waited, always expecting Nas to play after being a bit part CL player. Never happened and I lost maybe 30 points. Eventually did it for a hit and at least I don't worry over the issue anymore.

Probably not, he has a trip to Costa Rica with Spain this week, and then a CL game coming up, so he could be rested / not play the full 90. Not sure about Nasri's injury, though.

His name is being mentioned quite a bit, actually, but at £11.7m, it remains difficult to find space. But quite a few seem to be talking him up on here.

if he didnt have a ban hanging over him I probably would, but at THAT price, it ruins your team

i dont see how having the most consistent fpl player whos hit a nice bit of form can "ruin your team"

as for the ban, with him being the most expensive midfielder its easy to replace him as u can go for anyone

yep, frank is bringing home the bacon for me just now, the problem is, he eats it. :P. As things are I wouldn't change him for the 1 week if he was banned, he would just get benched and brought right back in the following week.

Price, fixtures, form of Silva and VDV, one yellow away from a ban. He'll be a very good pick, though.

I've gone from being delighted with my side and raking the points in to being very worried about the next few weeks. I have 2 newcastle defenders too many, a man u defender who won't play. Ruddy and Vorm and 2 liverpool players.

    Vorm (Ruddy)
J Evans, Enrique, Brown (RTaylor, Simpson)
    Mata, VDV, Silva, Ramsey (Dyer)
    RVP Suarez Ade

Used my free transfer for Brown and still see problems everywhere.

Should I take hits to sort it out or stick?

    Any thoughts/comments would be great

1.Vermaelen and Helguson (helguson on the bench)

    or

2.Jagielka and Bendtner (bendtner on the bench this week, as my midfield is stronger, but he has great fixtures after this week)
    Thanks 🙂

good question. I think some people have an advantage in using their wildcard during this break, while others have been building a 'value' team just for the cup. I for one already took a points hit, which I wouldn't have done knowing this was qualifying week. Can we use a completely new account for the cup then?
