Years ago, this site was but a small, intimate little affair with a sprightly host and never to be forgotten posters, with names like Necromancer, Puffin Boy and Yer Dad. On those pages, in a dark recess, lived a precious little list entitled the “Suspension Tightrope”, where the poor and damned were outed and their misdemeanors listed for all to see.

As this site has grown and grown, inevitably some of the old favourites were left behind, to be replaced by new shiny and fancy widgets. The “tightrope” found itself discarded – names like Ferguson, Keane, Vieira, Reo-Coker, Palacios, no longer had their name in lights.

Now however, it’s time to roll back the years.

For ScoutCast listeners, this wont be so much of a shock, but for anyone who failed to tune in to Mark and Granville’s dulcet tones earlier in the week, let me introduce myself. I’m Anorak and I’ve been resurrecting the Suspension Tightrope over the last year or so. Now the time has finally come to bring it back to the Fantasy Football Scout homepage. Next week we’ll see the widget return in the sidebar – for now, you’ll have to make do with my first round-up.

Saturday’s update sees no fewer than 22 yellows dished out across the games, with two of those combining into an unfortunate red for our first name on the ban list this weekend – Blackburn’s David Dunn. A pair of yellows means a one-match ban to be served in Gameweek 13. Joining him for a one week soiree on the suspension list, we have QPR’s Joey Barton and the Wolves pair of Stephen Hunt and Jamie O’Hara ; all three picked up their fifth yellows of the season today. That quartet replace Blackburn’s Jason Lowe and Seb Larsson of Sunderland who have both served their Gameweek 12 punishment; the FA charge for Antolin Alcaraz means he remains out of the picture.

Banned players for Gameweek 13: David Dunn, Joey Barton, Antolin Alcaraz, Stephen Hunt, Jamie O’Hara

As a couple of names move off the tightrope, they are immediately replaced. First up, fresh from his action packed afternoon is Ryan Shawcross, he picked up his fourth in the 3-2 defeat to QPR. Joining him with the same card count is Lee Cattermole. Two names who are no stranger to suspension tightrope.

Current Suspension Tightrope : Gabby Agbonlahor, Frank Lampard, John Terry, Brede Hangeland, Steve Sidwell, Gareth Barry, Ryan Shawcross, Glen Whelan, Lee Cattermole, Richard Stearman.

We’ll round things up again following Monday’s game, as Gameweek 12 concludes.

    Opinions please:

    A) Rooney -> Hernandez
    B) Rooney -> Hernandez, Kompany -> Baines
    C) Rooney -> Klasnic, Ramsey -> Lampard
    D) Rooney -> Helguson, Dyer -> Lampard

C and D assume no yellow for Lampard today.

    Best option?

Trouble is I've stuck with Rooney for ages now, and he's starting to seem like a waste of his hefty cost. I know what you're saying about fixtures though, which is why Hernandez tempts me.

If you had captained VDV I would say you might have a chance but having Silva as captain really messes up your chances. I reckon you will need 50-60+ to qualify.

Ye I'm sure I won't be qualifying but wondering if anyone managed to score well without RVP. I think qualifying will be more like 40-50.

Back top of my mini league yesterday, so i'm keeping faith in exactly the same team next GW, which is as follows:

    Vorm
    NTaylor Kompany Jones
    Walters Ramsey VDV Silva
    RVP Adebayor Bendtner

    Krul, STaylor, Dyer, Ward.

Makes sense to save the transfer right?

    Good morning, ladies and gentlemen.

    A) Adebayor and Ba

    B) Hernandez and Helguson

The second option looks a little better on paper, but Utd aren’t scoring many and QPR have the worst fixtures out of the 4. Also my rival has Adebayor, and Ba has scored 8 in his last 7.

    Any thoughts?

Like Sturridge. It's fools gold if you think you're getting A grade coverage.

Whatever you do, don't sell him for Fulham at home.

Actually, the 6m options have gone a bit quiet again. Walters and Larsson the only tempters at the moment.

Already done Given > Vorm this week as I wanted to avoid the drop.

    Plan for next 3 weeks:

    GW14: Mata > Silva
    GW15: Begovic > Krul
    GW16: Bendtner > Sturridge

    Thoughts?

Starting to wonder how to get a Utd attacking player in.

I could do an Ade to Hernandez switch next week to give me:

    Vorm
    Jones Brown Warnock
    VDV Silva Ramsey Dyer
    RVP Aguero Chico

    (Krul, Simmo, Ward, Moses)

    Seem a good move?

      Maybe.
Adebayor is a tricky one. When the team is set up with VDV in support, then Ade is acting as the pivot bringing others into play (VDV, Bale and Lennon especially). That obviously leaves a hungry Defoe on the bench.

The doubt for VDV's hamstring means that is possible Defoe could even get a start on Monday, in which case Adebayor's goal threat increases significantly in my view.

51 Points with VDV, Mata, Ade and Mata to play.

    Sitting at 19,946 overall.
    3.1 in the bank

    Current Team
    Vorm(Krul)
Brown, Shawcross, R Taylor (Simpson, Enrique)
    Walters, VDV, Mata, Silva (Dyer)
    RVP, Adebayor, Crouch

    2 FT

I think this team will be fine for next week saving me another transfer.

Can anyone offer any suggestions on improvements.
I like Silva's hard fixtures because it means he gets minutes and is most likely to set up/score.
I have the option of getting Aguero in for Ade but I see no benefit when the fixtures are so difficult.

Mata is not shining because Chelsea have not been as consistent as previous seasons.

Anyone got an idea. Stoke I see as my weakness but Crouch has been doing well and Shawcross what a guy concedes 3 but makes the day by scoring!

Lose Crouch, as you basically have two Stoke strikers. The other is on pens.
maybe to Sturridge (see later), or somebody for the following week and play Dyer

when you say 'I think this team will be fine for next week saving me another transfer' - you do realise you can only have 1 additional free transfer saved at any time? meaning if you have 2 free transfers this week, you wont get an extra one if you don't make a transfers

From an Australian perspective, if he doesn't get chopped now, they might make the Australia vs India series like a farewell sort of thing for Ricky. Personally, I'd like to see him get a proper farewell like we gave to Warnie, Pidge and Gilly

yeah, normally the person bumming him up has him in their team, and the person dissing him doesn't. He wasn't too bad in all fairness. Not sure he's on for Baps though . I thought he handled Sinclair pretty well considering how fast Sinclair is.

A couple of queries folks re QPR. Clint Hill who played full game yesterday doesn't seem to be listed on transfer page. Also the team sheet seemed to indicate Traore playing in midfield, what formation did thay play?

He's on the second page of QPR players! I'd guess that Traore was playing on the left wing, brings back memories of him at Portsmouth when he was a great FPL shout for a while, at 4.0 and playing on the wing.

    How's this for a 8-pt hit dream team? 😀

Given > Ruddy; ShawX > Caulker; Gabby > Helguson; Sinclair > Lamps

Eventually after Nani > Johnson & Studge > Roo, gives me Jafa's Supa Dupa 5:
    Vorm
    Caulker Brown Wilko
    VDV Silva Lamps Johnson
    RVP Roo Helguson
Subs – Ruddy, Moses, Enrique, Simpson.

Oh right, there definitely used to be two pages of QPR players, because they had so many, and Hill was on the second page because he had the lowest total score after getting sent off against Bolton.

I can see Hill on my transfer screen....

Even if he is playing in midfield, 5.5 is a helluva lot for a QPR defender.

It works for and against us though. There have been many times where a player has moved to a bigger club, and carried the price tag from the 'lesser' club, making him a bargain. Just like Enrique this year.
